I'm just now learning this and I felt dumb, it certainly makes the Knight more combat capable.
Yes this is a feature for all magic vocations and even some bow ones. Yellow-star skills need a second bar charged as opposed to base-level skills. You can get red-star skills (like high bolide) with certain items (assuming you've already learned to Yellow version)
Bro your channel is awesome. I've always loved dragons dogma, but I had no idea just how ignorant I was of some the games systems. I've learned so much from your videos, especially the class schematics, and the guides on how to get your new playthroughs running quicker. DD is an amazing game, and im really grateful for the amount of work you put into all these videos. I don't think there's a single one where I didn't learn something. I'm amazed that you were able to make me love this game more than I did already. I hope one day we get a DD2, or DDO in the west or he'll even a DD remake/remaster with all the intended content like the moon. Ty again for the work.
If your playing on PC do yourself a favor and head to the nexus and mod the game. So many good quality of life changes there. Example - change the cast speed buff from articulacy to something meaningful. Or make bolide not waste 80% of it's shots on dirt. My all time favorite is to mod out or increase your carry capacity and reduce stamina use while running.
So i have a question for everyone here. What is with the sudden popularity skyrocket of this game? I have been playing Dragons Dogma since like 2012 and am curious as to why its just now getting popular
The Switch release was recent, so youtube has pushing Dogma content, and then additionally there is an Anime in the works, which may have drawn attention.
@@Nihil0.0 oh! Ok! Neat im glad to see this game finally getting the attention in deserves now only if dragons dogma online would go NA that would be even better
Surprised sixfold-bolt isnt on this tbh. That skill has evaded all reason for me. Sometimes it absolutely shreds an enemy and sometimes it deals almost or literally 0 damage to the same type of enemy. I am absolutely clueless why that is.
The tracer bolt may hit a weak point, but the actual darts that home in on it may hit tougher parts. It's a very finicky ability, but not hard to understand once you notice what's happening.
I don't know if that Splitter no fall damage was patched out on the PS4 version or if I need to have a lighter character, but that absolutely will not work for me. I've tried it multiple times in multiple locations including Duskmoon Tower. And no I'm not jumping first.
I wonder if DD ever got a second one, would you make content for that? I know you have been making content for a game that has been out since 2012 but the amount of time you have put in this game I wonder if you would do the same for the second one?
If the sequel is along the same as this dogma and does not deviate too much into what dogma online was, yes. I would love this sequel, with updated and newer vocations, but the mechanics changed quite a bit in online and I do not care for it. It was mostly the defense thresholds and weapons needed to be absolutely on par to damage. Here I can go and fight Daimon with Criteria and Shortbow, that can not happen in dogma online. Also the whole stamina defense thing was stupid, rather than knockdown and stagger. And just the mmo aspect. God I hate mmo's
@@Nihil0.0 I agree. As I get older and play these older rpg's compared to now and the mmo's have definitely made me realize that I dislike those game mechanics. Idk if capcom had anything to do with the online version but I would believe they would make a better version of the first and just add and change a little bit. I mean the game doesn't really have to many complaints imo so I am sure they would do good with the game. Sorry for the long response and loving the content. Hope to see you make DD2 content in my feed in the future.
@@Nihil0.0 also I love using mystic knight. But one thing that is false is when i use great cannon it won't take on the effect of ice with altice. Instead I always have to use frost trance to make them the element. Do you know why?
The element is applied, it's there, just the visual is not. But Almace still freezes and Eden's Warden still burns ruclips.net/video/ttpAtgT-Lkk/видео.html
i noticed that when fighting that wind dragon right before daimon, if i used grand bolide the dragon would get hit more often, i don't know if i was being really lucky or if it lands more hits because the dragon has a big hurtbox
I believe it's because dragons have multiple target locations like chimera do. ie; You only get things like dragon horns or great dragon alula if you target specific parts of the dragon.
Still doesn't explain why Blearing and Silentium are melee PBAoE. It's...dumb. We are not talking the MK, but a simple Mage, what's he doing running in the front lines? And no, I can't edit it with that fantastic dinput.dll hook mod. They'd actually be quite satisfying to use for CC if they actually had range... Regardless, thanks for this video. edit: Maybe do a vid on the balance of skills / augments? Would love to hear your thoughts.
Question nils. Why do mage and sorcerer pawns cast in front of enemies like dragons instead of casting behind them. Is it because of their script or do they have to be taught how to?
Because you are. They have to be in the screen (in a sense) they need to reset to your side on occasion, and this puts them close to you. Sometimes yes, even if you are far they will place them selves in the front, and that would likely be because the center of the screen is the target, and they need to be in the screen for you to see them (or at least the program says so)
@@Nihil0.0 ok ill take that into consideration. Cus I was wondering why they would always do that. How are you enjoying your vacation i hope its been going well?
I find perfect block best for Garm, or Enhanced response with a follow up to the rear of Windmill. But I still choose Antler toss over Windmill, much more versatility
Playing as the Ranger Vocation right now. I doubt I'll use Great Gamble. Tenfold arrow along with Crippling Arrow and Spiral Arrow seem to OP, but I'd probably use Gamble on things like Grigori or Daimon. 7:17 Yeah I wouldnt climb around there if I was you.
I love Crippling arrow. That's my most favorite skill in the entire game, which is sad because I don't like Ranger much. A Strider version would have been great.
@@Nihil0.0 Its useful for targeting weak spots though. I just got done with the Catacombs and I'm surprised that skeletons die fast with Sixfold flurry. At least the catacombs are good for ranking your vocation up.
@@silverthefox6151 arrows count as blunt damage, so they're exceedingly useful against skeletons. I like fearful din a whole hell of a lot. It's a great crowd control skill, though unless you have high stagger/knockdown on hard mode, it's a tad less useful. Though not by much. Still, the key to that skill is absolutely maximizing stagger and knockdown. It helps with tenfold and even the regular shots too. I'm pretty sure the highest a ranger can achieve is 808 stagger/758 knockdown, which is up there in top tier warrior territory. It's fun seeing garm go flying from single shots to the head. 😁
I still don't understand Rangers Great Gamble skill, I have 5038 stamina with a master ring and virtuoso ring, bow is Dragon's Glaze with damage 1115 but you/he said the bow or bow damage doesn't matter but I only take away two health dots and a half bar from the prisoner gore cyclops's health bar. Is it because of the bracket number in front of my stamina? ST: 5038 (4558) I didn't take any potions, just used the rings to bring the stamina up like the mans did in this video so why?
Nvm, I killed the gore cyclops in front of the other one. I guess my arrow hit the top part of his head and that didn't count as hitting his weak point and instead counted as hitting the backside of the head? Either that or I was just far enough away that the damage fallout from arrow range mitigated some of the damage
How do you create so many different characters? Do you use a save manager or just create a separate account each time you want to make a new character?
Some skills I often used but didn't fully understand until years later:

Great gamble means that it's a chance to get high damage, or low damage. It's like a lottery ticket. You win or you lose.
The Magic Archer skills can be confusing to use as well like how Great Ward Arrow and Magic Rebalancer work as well.
That's a well-earned subscribe from me. Thanks, man.
2:16 dang thats in dmc5 O_O
Same development team.👍
I play a Changeling names Nihil in DnD sessions with my friends. Well met fellow Nihil!
Have you ever tried talking without pausing between every couple of words?
Really well done video, Thanks!
Thanks Mike. I appreciate it
Great video and lots of informative commenters
a guardian of this labyrinth perhaps
Great Sacrifice is powerful and all but the inconvenience of losing a pawn when I still need one is just...
for those unaware you can come on and out and mosnters will always respawn in the boos room to farm RC
high knowledge on chymera being 3 npc in 1
If your playing on PC do yourself a favor and head to the nexus and mod the game.
Great contents! Thanks man
Thanks KYY
I main MK and its good to see it on here lol never used demons wrath but now i think i might start
i got a switch just because this game came out lol, i put soooooo much hours on the pc version
Now I learned thanks, . . . I never knew why I always got a fall damage using that Skull Splitter on that spot 😂😂😂
how do you get grand bolide? I'm lvl 10 sorc and only have high bolide. also your casting time is insanely fast, how do you do that
You can get rings from cursed gear in bitter black when uncursed. Sometimes the ring will be a skill ring that boots a skill to level 3 when equipped
Imagine if the highest bolide was enough to destroy an entire solar system lmao, or at least the sun
I've finally found my long lost brother... #NihilFamily
Yep, there's a few of us out there
I just started playing DDDA and YT shows me this... I really don't see me fighting those big chonker as a FIghter/Mystic Knight xD
just bought this game and I have no idea what any of this is or the stuff mentioned in the comics but thank you anyway I'm sure I will in time.
Just found this vid after asking about fall damage with helm splitter on another video. I feel so dumb!
No worries. Many have asked about that trick
I'm not sure about the PS4 or XB1 or Switch. That would suck if it were changed. That would be a silly thing to "fix"
@@Nihil0.0 Actually I guess it was weight. I made my character lighter and now it works.
Good to hear. I've been telling everyone as far as I know it works on all platforms.
Maelstorm them all
you and another pawn casting maelstorm will do quite a mess to anything anywhere, except a few types of enemies
But Almace still freezes and Eden's Warden still burns
ruclips.net/video/ttpAtgT-Lkk/видео.html
You think we'll ever get a sequel to DD?
yeah, I think so. And it's good to read from you Minato, even if you're not first
@@Nihil0.0 I keep up with all your vids I just don't always have something to say is all
Dragon's dogma 2 is a thing now
i noticed that when fighting that wind dragon right before daimon, if i used grand bolide the dragon would get hit more often, i don't know if i was being really lucky or if it lands more hits because the dragon has a big hurtbox
I believe it's because dragons have multiple target locations like chimera do. ie; You only get things like dragon horns or great dragon alula if you target specific parts of the dragon.
The second sacrifice tried to run.
Please help!!! My skull splitter doesn’t work! Can’t spin and also can’t dodge roll! Any ideas????
Still doesn't explain why Blearing and Silentium are melee PBAoE. It's...dumb. We are not talking the MK, but a simple Mage, what's he doing running in the front lines? And no, I can't edit it with that fantastic dinput.dll hook mod. They'd actually be quite satisfying to use for CC if they actually had range...
Regardless, thanks for this video.
edit: Maybe do a vid on the balance of skills / augments? Would love to hear your thoughts.
Dude, just go miasma with according effect archistaff
way simpler and better
Nice vid. Could you please guide me in which situation intimate Gambit or windmill is useful. Can I use intimate Gambit in place of tusk toss?
Intimate is good for small enemies, but not larger. Windmill is great with charging force hatchet or when an enemy is knocked down.
@@Nihil0.0 yep I noticed we don't get the staggered animation with big enemies. Windmill work well with garms.
I find perfect block best for Garm, or Enhanced response with a follow up to the rear of Windmill. But I still choose Antler toss over Windmill, much more versatility
@@Nihil0.0 windmill is just slash. Basically kisses on ground on sword .
you failed to point out that grand bolide took off almost 2 life bars on that elder ogre, while regular barely fell short of taking off 1 bar
10:21 Do you bring the fiend luring insecse with you for the elder ogre to spawn????
Actually I think 4 meteors hit the ogre, the 4th one connected when he was doing his drop kick, but still point well taken.
Never knew that about bolide.
Bolide looks so cool even though the skill absolutely sucks.
You must be the king of manipulating youtube algorithms. 100k views for DD? I salute you.
His content is simply that good.
How?
The 6000?
It'❤svery old video and I can't picked up,all though it it looks mastif 😅
You are an impressive sort.
Good thing I never upgraded my Pawn past 1st level of Bolide
I still don't understand Rangers Great Gamble skill, I have 5038 stamina with a master ring and virtuoso ring, bow is Dragon's Glaze with damage 1115 but you/he said the bow or bow damage doesn't matter but I only take away two health dots and a half bar from the prisoner gore cyclops's health bar.
Is it because of the bracket number in front of my stamina?
ST: 5038 (4558)
I didn't take any potions, just used the rings to bring the stamina up like the mans did in this video so why?
Nvm, I killed the gore cyclops in front of the other one. I guess my arrow hit the top part of his head and that didn't count as hitting his weak point and instead counted as hitting the backside of the head? Either that or I was just far enough away that the damage fallout from arrow range mitigated some of the damage
How do you create so many different characters? Do you use a save manager or just create a separate account each time you want to make a new character?
I dont get how bolide could be confusing if you read its description it's pretty clear what it does it's a higher level fire spell.
Yes, but it only hits 2 meteors per target, making it a waste on rooms that arent full of things.
