One thing people neglect to mention when comparing P3FES and P3P is that in P3FES, you can actually use any weapon instead of just swords (except for Aigis' guns and Koromaru's knives- which is funny, because those are the two weapons Joker uses in Persona 5).
And thats a big feature, coz weapons drop randomly so i can switch to the best drop anytime
It always bugged me that in P3P, a certain character who becomes unavailable for play due to plot reasons is still in the game, and their weapons are still in the game too - but now no one can use those weapons because they took away the protagonist's ability to use them! So every time I'd get a high-level weapon of that type in a chest, I'd remember that no one can use it. A small detail, but an annoying oversight.

I've had an extra $21.60 (price + tax) sitting in my account since they announced the releases for them on the Switch. Definitely going with P4G! Thanks for highlighting all the details of both releases! Now I'm even MORE excited for it! (and it releases a couple days before my birthday too!)
P4G is clearly the best option here, hope we also get P3 FES Remake or Remaster on a later date.

The good thing about P3P is that there is also still rumors going around about a Persona 3 Remake being made, so if that’s true then at least we have that coming and hopefully THAT will be the DEFINITIVE edition of P3
Man I'm actually looking forward to these days speeding by to the 19th. I bought P4 Golden on Steam over a year or so ago but always had issues trying to play it on my laptop plus issues using a controller for it. So ended up being a waste of Money. Now I can experience it on a bigger screen with my Xbox controller for FREE! (Game pass) and this will be my first time ever playing P3. I've heard so much about it over the years
if you love or had a great time with the atmosphere and story of p4/p5 then dont expect to be incredibly hooked with p3. p3 have a much more darker tone and more serious approach than the latter in the series. friendships doesnt exist here not until very late in the story. there is some comedic moments, but it will get overshadowed by the seriousness of the game.
but if you can hang yourself throught the earlier stages of the game, then you will be rewarded with a greatest story in the persona series. atleast imo.
What is really funny is that I am in the last buildup in Persona 5 right now... where you spend time waiting for days to go by before you send out the calling card. Art imitating life and all.
i had similar issues tryna play on steam. you should’ve gotten a refund! also hope you enjoy p3! i recently finished it and there’s many features i wish made it into p5 (difficulty, breaking/reversing social links etc)

If you still want to fix your PC game, look for the settings and set Rendering Scale to 100%, also you can use a PS4 controller on your PC.
You know... It really does seem like only Atlus is still able to pull off that traditional JRPG thing nowadays. Even Final Fantasy has abandoned that setup. Heck, Pokemon is even wandering away from the idea of turn based battles somewhat. But Persona just does it so so so well...
Are you like trying to avoid mentioning Dragon Quest on purpose? Because that’s literally the most traditional JRPG you can get
to be fair, dragon quest is far more of a traditional rpg than persona but both are great turn based games

@The Unbeheld the problem I have with dragon quest comes down to grinding. Persona requires that as well but in persona it kinda doesn't feel like grinding whereas with dragon quest it does. No slam against dragon quest - it's great and a really wonderful set of games. It's just I prefer the way persona implements the mechanics of a jrpg slightly more is all. Still... give me a choice of DQ or something like modern final fantasy and I'll choose DQ. It's just in a face off between DQ and persona I'll choose persona.

Persona 4 is my favorite Persona game out of the main series. Persona 5 Royal made Persona 5 even better for me and is a really close second to P4 for me. For me, P3 has the best story, P4 has the best cast, and P5 has the best gameplay. I have yet to play P2, which I heard is really great story-wise. I sadly couldn't get into the original Persona.

+ it's an extended version of the game
+ you control your party members
+you get to roam about in a "open wotld" sandbox like in p5

@monomon0645 I do have a ps3 but I don't have enough space to put it out of storage I have ps5, xbox series x, switch and the steam deck literally got no space left but if I recall correctly I think they said in this version of p3p you can control your party members not sure if it's true tho.
Sry i made a mistake portable you can control party members and fes they control themselves (but the ai is alright)
These came out on PS2 and are in my collection. But, I will be buying these to play on my PS5. LOVE both of these games!!!

Currently playing persona 4 Golden on my vita. Such an awesome game. Both of these games are worth more.
Still have mine on vita, had p3 on ps2 and never played p3p, so I'm going with that. P4golden is so good vita I don't need it on ps4.

Picking up both and playing P3P first! Honestly I prefer the story to Persona 3 to 4 but they are both great games!
100% getting both. P3P was my first persona game so it has a very special place in my heart. i've been wanting to replay it for years now so i'm super excited for this!!! and getting to replay P4G on the PS5 is going to be super nice!!!
As I work now and have the money it is nice to be able to get all of the games I heard about and couldn't afford. Real trick is getting the time to play all of them as I have sunk 40+ hours barely into 5 Royal and barely scratched it.
Still for my ever growing backlog of games it feels nice kind of compared to when I was only able to have one or two games until my birthday/christmas
I've done a 101 hours and only caught up to the opening interrogation. Loving ever minute of it.

I already played golden on my vita but had been googling about a P3 remake on occasion for years, so I already decided on buying 3 as soon as it was announced. I love Persona and liked the movies, but never played the game. Am excited to play as a girl being a female player myself

Im so excited for this and the best part for both games, is the games can be streamed ENTIRELY on Twitch if your using the Console Broadcast feature. And since i got a PS5 and heard that news, im planning to get on that console instead of the Switch

The only thing that annoyed me with the difference between P3FES and P3P was that the Fusion Spells became Items. I mean, the entire point of maxing out the Star Arcana was to get Helel so you could cast Armageddon on The Reaper.
The big one for me is the lack of overworld. I understand having to do that for PSP, but this version is on systems that can easily handle it.
Already playing p3 and loving it. One of my favourite games of all time. And it's been quite a few years since I last played. So it's good to be back.

Just finished persona 4 golden on the Steam Deck. I played persona 5 Royal on PS5. I have a series X now too and I have game pass but I plan on playing part 3 on Steak Deck as well because these games lend themselves really well to portable play. I haven’t played 3 but 4 and 5 are some of my favorite games and I can’t wait to get into 3

No doubt I'll be getting both I've only started playing them for the first time and I did so by hunting down a palystation TV off Amazon so it will be nice to play it on my PS4 that's for sure

A game costs $29 each here in Australia but since I love both I'm buying both. Haven't played them since my early college days (2009). I'm so excited!

The bundle should have been $29.99 out the gate. Most newcomers may have impulse bought it at that price, but as it stands. A majority will just ignore or skip over P3, since P4G is considered the better game and only $20 bucks alone... 🤷

Was hoping for a playasia physical like chrono cross.
Having played P3 FES and P3P multiple times, I think I'll only go with P4 golden because it's been years since I replayed persona 4.
In 2023 if you're trying to play p3 which I would highly reccomend for any fans of Persona in general get P3 portable. You're not missing anything important from p3 FES and just for the full party control alone portable is a more user friendly experience. I'd suggest just watching a story video to learn what happens in The Answer
The bundle is 38 and some change, with tax probably about 39, so you save a dollar.
Based on what you've said about portable, and the rumor, I think I'll just go golden and buy portable later if there's a sell later.

I played persona 5 and Royal a lot and i wanted to tried the others persona games and I will definitely buy 3 and 4 any tips before I start?
I'm looking forward to playing P3P and will be playing on a Steam Deck, so playing something streamlined and portable friendly sounds great. I wish though that they'd figured out a way to bring just the epilogue over. Hard to not feel some FOMO knowing I'm not really playing the "complete game."
I'm going to get both I may even throw in the P4 Arena game for £57.69 currently on PSN for three games I haven't played at all for a franchise that I fell in love with when I played P5 it's a no brainer

I have persona three portable on Vita already (download the PSP game), and I'm still trying to see why I would buy the switch version. Like, if they interjected additional scenes and brought back anime cutscenes, on top of the HD graphics I would consider it.

Played both this year and they are 100% worth
Picked up P4G last year on Steam, but haven't played much yet. Only for far enough to meet Teddy. I got P5R when it came to Steam. I'm now 150 hours in, still on 1st playthrough. I'll definitely go back and give P4G more time after that and pick up P3P as well.
P4G is really great and gets much better. The beginning is a bit slow, but I promise is does get much better! The characters are some of the best in the series imo!
I think personally they're not releasing P3 FES because there's definitely a remake in the works, or at least a high-profile remaster kind of like they did with SMT III: Nocturne.
Or because this was much easier. P3P is already formatted for a wide screen and I have heard FES's code is a mess. Instead of changing anything they can just emulate PSP and call it a day.
Totally picked up both. I loved both of these years ago and to ha e them back again will be great!
Love when they price the games fairly like this, now royal on switch on the otherhand, i feel like should've got a little cut maybe. Dropping for $60 at once is steep.
To be fair Royal always goes on sale for 40 and even 30 in some cases.

I've already got P4G on Steam.
I was looking at the bundle on the eshop and it is priced at $69.95 AUD. 5 cents more than if I bought the games seperatly.
I say that but I was only getting P3P on the switch to complete the holy trinity of consoles with persona games. (I have P5R on PS4)

For the price tag 20 is amazing. Especially compared to other aaa games that are coming out or have dropped recently. I know these games are old but still!
My money is betting they went with p3p because they’re working on a P3 remake and changing up the extra chapter to lead into P6. I think 6 will involve 3,4 and 5 in some way.
They all technically are linked in some way in the same universe. There are little Easter Eggs in the later games from the earlier games. For example, in P4G, the story about the Pink Alligator that Nanako reads during one of the S-Links is the book that Akinari from P3 wrote... Also if you check the TV at a certain point in Cafe LeBlanch, I believe Yukari is mentioned on the news, and she's either an idol or an actress at that point.
@@anthonymurano3018 yep there are posters of Rise in P5, Sayoko is also mentioned when Takemi calls the hospital. They’re years apart but I think a game like Q with all 3 teams could be really fun.

my first exposure to Persona was playing as Joker in Smash on my friend's Switch. I've been hesitant to drop $60 on P5 just bc idk if I'm gonna like it so I'm excited for P4 to come out on Switch so I can just kinda ease my way into the fandom
Just my experience, but P5 Royal is the best game I've ever played so I would say it was worth it

Played Persona 4 on PS2 and loved it. Love Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal. Never played P3. Torn if I should by this so perfect for me that this video showed up.
il definitly play 3 again. I played the original 3 on the psX ones, a pirated copy, i have to buy it at least to compensate. Also i never got to play fes or the female route so this is gonna be great, i dont even remember many of the things on the game.

I originally didn't care about P3P just because it's a portable version so not for me, although i have game pass so i can visit it and i am willingly to wait for the FES or the non portable version to release sometime, but going to play P4G :D

So excited I no longer have to play it on my tiny ps vita screen. I do wish they used the opportunity to create a p3 definitive addition with all the stuff they had to cut out of p3p to make it work on the weaker hardware. Would have been a great opportunity
That P3P announcement just seems weirder the more I hear about it. I mean why go to the effort of rescaling the resolution and using hi-res graphics only to relegate non-dungeon navigation to a rudimentary cursor and all social links to character portraits, which P3P only did because UMD space (2.8GB) and PSP aspect ratio. Atlus also could have made an upscale of P3FES and added an optional female route for The Journey. Regardless it seems like Atlus putting in extra work to make the worst possible version of a game with two "definitive" editions, both of which are divisive among fans.
I'm waiting for the sale... so I can buy it both :)

I played through p3FES until the final boss because I wasn’t high enough level and I was sick of dealing with the dungeon so I just quit playing it

It would have been nice if they reinstated the anime cut scenes into this version of P3P. Again another element missing from the portable version.

Persona 3 Portable on PSP sells for about $100 for a physical copy. It is on the PS Vita store digitally, if that still works.
Personally I'm only gonna get P4G, mainly because I got P3FES for PS2 a little bit before the ports were announced for modern consoles. So I already have a version of P3 to play through.
Never got to play 4 so excited about getting to play it for only $20
Personally, Persona 3 Portable really is the definitive edition so far.
-no more excess walking just to get to a certain area during the day
-less loading time cuz they cut out the excess walking parts and, although this one is actually a bummer, the anime cutscenes
-it doesn't have The Answer cuz it barely contributed anything with regards to the story of the MC
-female MC is a nice-to-have for a different experience
-you can manually control your allies' actions
There isnt actually any "definitive" version for p3. FES has so many features that was removed from p3p:
> Selectable weapons. mc can use 2handSw, fist, bow, bludgeon and spear not just 1handSw. allowing for more flexibility.
> Junpei's re patra(or re patra in general) actually matters. in FES, when you or your opponent gets knocked down, it will skip its turn by getting back up. a lot different from 4 and 5 where it wont eat your turn (unless you got hit twice). this mechanics was entirely removed from the game and got replaced by p4's mech. because the mechanic can be either really helpful, or be your biggest problem. i lovee this mech. this differentiate p3 from others in the series. sadly people with skill issue deem this as "bad design" so atlus replace this.
> Bunch of useful equipments in shop. effects of equips in shops are not static like on portable. there, the effects are random which is extremely valuable in early stages in the game. useful effects such as: resist element(to cover weakness), crit up(to fish one mores and dizzy) stats up or inflict ailment(some tartarus bosses are vulnerable to ailments.

tldr: there is no definitive version of p3. both version have pros and cons that you will miss out if you only play the other versions.

@@stargazeeriuu1549 the Persona series starting from 3 was meant to be accessible by everyone which is why they opt to make some gameplay changes. Sure, it may all boil down to skill issues, but that's why Persona is easier than the mainline SMT games.
@@zxserenade thats not entirely my point tho, there is just way too many features that was cut from vanilla and fes that makes portable looks incomplete.
and also, persona is definitely not easier than mainlines. as someone who already playd both of them, id say its the same. people seem to underestimate persona's difficulty.

Watched this video after buying both games for Switch and thought this will be some kind of bashing against the video like you often find.
But instead it says you don´t do anything wrong bye buying them.
But i allready desided to buy them with the first mentioning that they are comming because i played the PS2 Versions of both before and loved them.
