- I've recently been playing through Persona 4 Golden on the Playstation Vita, the updated version of the massively successful JRPG created by Atlas. This game alone is hands down a good enough reason to buy a PlayStation Vita in 2020!

Very exciting with the new rumours of it coming to PC. If it’s true it will definitely make the game a much more attainable purchase!! Also just gonna delete any “this didn’t age well” comments lol
i swear to god that better be true because Persona 4 Golden is one of my favourite games of all time (along with the Yakuza series) i instantly fell in love with the characters, they are fantastic and the relationship building is so well done and the story keeps you gripped from start to finish :)

I JUST bought a Vita like a week ago in order to play through Golden again, because I got the urge to revisit it after finishing Royal. I have mixed feelings about these rumors.
P4G being on PC is awesome, but the Vita still has the advantage of being a handheld console.
We’ll see if a Switch port comes soon.
With Steam Remote Play you can play this in your (Android) phone right now (blame Apple for not allowing game streaming over internet apps on their app store), but I still agree with Switch port because having your PC always turned on even when you're out is wasteful

Couldn't agree more. I loved P4 on the PS2, so P4G was a natural pick up on the Vita. Adored it. Absolutely adored it. Comfortably in my top 5 list for favourite games, and I agree about having better characters than P5. Yes, P5 had better combat and better dungeons but it was missing that little something that made you still think about the characters when you weren't playing. Oh, and I may be alone, but I prefer P4Gs soundtrack too.
I think, its because in 4 you Play in the mind of your frinds, and in 5 you See the mind of the -bad guys- so in 4 you feel a stronger Bond.
I would Love to Play 4 golden in 5 Royal engine :)

i want to play it for the story but I got spoiled on who the killer is so idk if I'll enjoy it. Do you think knowing the spoiler will detract my experience?
Idk, that ending in p5r had me thinking about to for awhile. Much better final villain than vanilla p5
P4G has much more events with the whole squad. Also P4G has MUCH more consistant pacing and writing (*cough* Okumura palace, Haru's intorduction, Morgana's side arc, Kaneshiro *cough*). In P4G you immidiately have something to work towards, i.e solving the mystery, while in P5 it's more like riding the wave until you fall. P5 also had some... questionable... confidant stories (mainly Makoto, which is a shame since she is most complex and best written character, but her confidant sucks so much) while almost every P4G social link story was very interesting and well written. Now, P5 does have superior dungeons and combat, amazing artstyle and better OST in my opinion, but P4G just has that charm and atmosphere that will stay with you forever. Keep in mind that I haven't played Royal yet (I don't have PS4) so I'm not sure how many problems it fixes and how good the new content is.
Finally someone acknowledged that you can buy P3 on the PS3...

In Europe isn't the case, u can only play P3Fes on Ps3 and when I bought a Vita was in the end cycle, so no luck getting the PlayStation TV. And most likely, those that complain about P4 not being in Ps3, are from Europe. Most likely.

I'm still a true Vita believer since day 1. It's still my favorite handheld. (Put hundreds of hours into my Switch thanks to BotW and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but purely as a handheld the Switch feels like a massive downgrade to the Vita)
I own three Vitas in total. A fat launch one, which is still my favorite, a Slim 2000 model, which I now use for hacking and a PSTV, which is mostly my P4G dongle for the TV to play Golden with friends or my wife.
Getting the fat 1000 model over the slim 2000 one was absolutely the right decision for P4G in particular. It's not that the Slim model is always the worst one. It is better in almost every regard, except for the screen. But even the screen of the Slim model is very good. It feels better in quality than the Switch screen for example. So in most cases, the slim model is the better one overall. However, P4G is a special case, because of the many yellow UI elements. The original Vitas OLED screen make the game look so glorious. It's something you can't really appreciate if you only look at footage of the game on a non-OLED screen. So it's a very special problem, but old fat 1000 Vita was the very best platform for Persona 4 Golden.
PS Vita is the best handheld out there. It's gorgeous, feels good in the hands, has cool features. But Sony fucked it up bad. They killed the Vita with their poor decisions. Too bad, really. I love mine and still use it a lot these days...
You need to mod your vita. It's another world.
I have officially bought this game for the 3rd time!
Also finding a Aussie PS2 copy of Persona 4 was a pain for me back in the day when it was released. I remember I didn't pre-order (because I didn't think i needed to because it was just released) and went to my local gamestore and they literally only had 2 copies - both reserved.
Also picking up a copy of Person 3 FES was a pain because a picked up Person 3 on a whim and loved it so had to get FES.

@@dante19890 But at the time, before the steam release that was the hurtle people had to get over, of course you have to talk about that, there is no point doing a review of this game if you don't mention the cost of getting into it and if that cost is worthwhile, it would be an entirely purposeless review if you don't acknowledge that information and discuss it. Thats the thing that has stopped lots of people from getting the game is because of the cost of getting the console with it, proven by how many more people played it on steam. You can't create a review in a vacuum and expect it to hold any meaning or purpose for anyone.
still playing this on ps vita, good to play on lockdown. I one shot Shadow Kanji's dungeon in one day, and its not even new game plus lol
I just grabbed a used vita for p4g and it was pretty expensive ($200) these days. Still I think it will be worth it.
Never played a Persona game nor do I have any knowledge about the series, but the updated version is on sale on Steam right now (15 Euros), so I decided to give it a shot, hopefully it will live up to the hype. (It's way too long ago a JRPG sucked me in, to be exact it was Skies of Arcadia, and it will always be one of the greatest gaming memories of my life).
Got a vita exclusively for p4, and I've been fucking loving it. I dont think I've ever related to characters more than I have these guys.

And since u have a Vita, try P3P the femc route. And yes, for me P3, is my least favorite Persona game, but I get why people like the story and crew, and like a certain FF game lol, it needs an HD remake and some tweaks mechanic wise and gameplay wise, but not storywise, and fix Torturous lol and December month is the most boring month of the game. And like femc route, include social link with all SEES members and also include the femc, I like Kasumi, because she reminds me of the femc. And Ps lol, I like Marie lol.

i havent watched the video but i assume the algorithms recommended this to me because i LITERALLY just bought a used PS Vita just for P4G and P3P.
Really sad that the one must have reason that still existed for the Vita is no longer the case, but I'm happy that the game is on PC. If it doesn't come out on the Switch I'd still buy a Vita to play it since I like the portability, but this was my main excuse for getting one in the future. Guess the Vita really is a console just for portable versions of games I'd play elsewhere now, that was the main reason I wanted it in the first place anyways.

Originally I saw persona 5 had amazing reviews and it looked amazing, however I had a dislike for JRPGS because of the final fantasy series, I just disliked everything about it, mainly the combat being boring, so it made me stray away from the genre, but then I saw persona 5 on sale December 2019 for $10 so I figured why not try it, and the startup got me interested, the battle system ended up getting me hooked, and then the story got me to continuously stay interested, I have been playing P4G for a while now and I’m addicted to it, its just as much fun as persona 5 was to me, I feel that I do like persona 5 more simply for the fact it got me into the series, however otherwise I love them all the same and god that music is amazing. Once I beat royal I’m going to move on to P3FES, as of current I have every persona game except 1 and 2, and yes I do plan on trying them out once I can get my hands on them
I can’t recommend recommend this series enough
Also depending on the type of person you are you might want to start from P3FES
people will like to see improvements in a series over time and if you don’t see that some people will be uninterested in continuing on, so as a warning in P3FES from the few hours I’ve played you’ll just see downgrades from persona 5.

I’m glad I got the vita for Easter 2 years ago, i never used it until I found out about the persona series, so yeah
Also my vita is currently a persona music player because other than P5 the music isn’t on sale anywhere so... I’m ashamed, I pirated some persona music, it’s on my vita and whenever I feel like listening to that music I just turn it on.
God I want to play PS4G and PS3FES but my vita broke and now doesn't charge properly and hasn't turned on in years.
Persona 5 was my favorite game of all time, until I beat Royal recently. I feel quite annoyed that I'm missing out on the others due to the console gaps...

I want to play this game, I saw a play through a while ago, and I want to play it myself. Also Rise, best girl, I like her character for the fact that her character is some what fictional but also remains realistic. It’s next to impossible for a girl your age, that is an ex idol, that also goes to the same school as you to be real. But the problems she has are problems people like her would most likely have in real life.

I like P5 but i honestly love P4 more since like its topics and problems are something i think is more grounded and relatable (for a teen and adachi like adults too) in my opinion.
I love the setting, characters, music, and battle the only little prob is the autogenerated dungeon but i dont think it affected mt gampelay as much tbh)

I know I'm commenting this late on the video, but instead of buying a ps vita then you could buy a ps tv which is around 20 bucks on amazon and you can play all ps vita games on your tv with a dualshock 3 or 4
How funny that a few months later Persona 4 Golden came to PC.
Very frustrating from a video angle cause I put weeks of work into this video and its kinda no longer relevant but as a consumer and a fan of the series its amazing to finally see the game with some crisper visuals
My only regret with this gem is uninstalling it to make room a few years back... I lost ALL my Personas and progress.
P4's characters having dungeons is, I agree, one of the reasons P4 is better than P5.
Also I found myself much more interested in playing P3 after playing P4A. The cast of P3 is more interesting there IMO and it earns them some grace that carries over when you play the original P3. At least it did for me.

played persona 3 4 and 5 only . if i rank them p4>p5>p3 the only reason why persona 5 is that good its bec. it was a recent game , the music and the game play is better but when it comes the characters , story , fun momments and the ending? p4 is the best its not even close
