I used to have 3 core PRS Tremonti. Probably best guitars I ever owned. Had to sell them for fertility treatments. Our son is totally worth it though. I haven't been able to get another core, but I have an SE and it's DARN close to the American. One day I'll get another one, until then, I'll keep rockin that Tremonti SE.

@@minisurfbanana Thanks man, and congrats on your boy!!! AMS sells them on a 12 payment plan, so that's how I was able to get the SE. Even then pickups are really good, which I did not expect.

@@ericbrewerguitar1499 I sold I think 7 in all. It KILLED me. It paid for pretty much all of the treatments, and thank GOD that the last one we did led to my boy. After that, it would have been IVF, and I would have had to sell a kidney on the black market or something 🤣
I'm still really happy with my SE's though. My son is about to turn 2 and likes to play (and by that I mean smack the strings on the fingerboard) guitar with his dad. I seldom think of them now.

I have been a Les Paul fan since I was 14. I still want one but last last year I really started looking at the PRS guitars and I really like how they sound. I comparison I think the Les Pauls low end frequency is pretty dominate. Whereas the PRS guitars have a more balanced tone and the articulation of the strings is more defined. That is what has sold me on the PRS line. Congrats on the new axe. It looks great and sounds amazing.

I stepped into the PRS world with an SE Standard single cut. Then a Zach Myers for that semi-hollow sound and feel. All this time, my local dealer had an Emerald Green Tremonti 10 top with a stoptail bridge. Well I loved the feel of the stoptail on the Standard and Zach Myers, so I played, fell in love with and bought the Tremonti. It IS the most amazing guitar I've ever played and owned. My LP Custom Shop R10 doesn't come close. I'm right there with you when you say you like old style brought current (or new). Old car, new engine, electronics, etc... I've always been that way. My next PRS will be a Strat Killer 408. Just have to find one now! Great review!

The Tremonti pickups were influenced by Mark's Les Paul that he used before the PRS. The bridge pickup is a triple ceramic magnet design like the Gibson 498T. I am lucky enough to own a Korean made Tremonti SE. It has the best of everything: Tremonti humbuckers that can be coil split, PRS tuners, wood binding, rosewood fretboard and a finish to die for. After owning it for just a little while, I happily traded away my '83 Les Paul Standard. This instrument is everything you wish your LP is! And honestly, I don't know whether I like playing it more or just looking at it in the stand. Good luck finding a Korean now but I hear the newer ones are pretty good. This guitar is just amazing.
