      I just built a 7800x3d with g.skill ddr5-6000 30-40-40-96 (2 x 32gb). EXPO would cause no boot, but manually setting the speed and timings and also 1.35v on the memory and now it's solid at those settings.

    Speed does not matter a lot but timings do make a bit difference. In some games that to not fit in the L3 benefit a lot from lower latency dram and tweaked subtimings. Faster infinity fabric clocks also help to improve the gaming performance. With new biosses 2167MHz works more easy. Undervolting the soc helps for stability (start with - 1.100-1.150v.

    I was wondering if bigger ram sticks could give an issue as well? I was considering 96GB that could be needed in some of my cases but not sure if compatibility-wise with the 7800x3D would be good, if some problems could appear with any other CPU or motherboards, as now I could take "slower" ram but more of it while not having much downside regarding ram speed for the 7800x3D.
    TL;DR : Should I consider 96GB instead of 64GB for the 7800x3D w/ Asus 650E-I (Mini ITX) board, as ram speed shouldn't matter in this case and just give me more ram without visible downsides?

    Same thing was said on the 5800x3d. Went from 3200c16 2x8 16gb oloy to gskill 3200c14 4x8 32gb. Every game I play got a 10-15% uplift in .1 and 1% lows with 8% boost to average fps.
    Now the gskills tuned to 3733c14-14-14-14-28 on 4x8 using a gigabyte x570. Raised the performance overall on the 5800x3d another 6%. And .1&1% lows within 15% of average fps now. Super stable.

    The thing is that RAM faster than 6000MT/s could actually be bad for chiplet design CPUs. Since the infinity fabric and the memory speed matching would be faster than having way faster memory. 6000 lets both the InfFabric and Memory even out at 3000. Anything faster and the InfFabric may not have enough to keep up, literally. It will start to go down! So, 6000 is 100% the fastest.

    The faster ram is only good for iGPU.. my third pc was i7 2600K, this cpu has HD 3000 iGPU. This was an office grade pc with the slowest RAM you can get. So i bought 2133MHz 32GB for 90€, realising that the motherboard only support up to 1866MHz so the RAM was set to highest that mobo can support. But The actuall FPS boost in-game was huge, jumping from 15-25fps to 27-40fps, almost double, just only with faster ram..
    the new 890m radeon iGPU will require the most fastest DDR5 ram for the best experience. But it kinda sucks because that almost 100mb of 3d cache is really helping a lot. If they make an APU with 890m and 100 3D cache, im selling my two main pc's and i go straight withou any dedicated gpus...

    people at microcenter said using a non amd expo on my 7800x3d could lead to instability issues if I enable the OC like whatever you call it, the expo mode, ohcp or dhop, you know what I'm trying to say.
    They specifically didn't recommended it. Because originally I was going to get the Tforce delta 6000 cl30 in white but they only had it for xmp and said it wouldn't work well.

    • @PCBuilderChannel
      @PCBuilderChannel  7 месяцев назад +1

      Whoever you talked to didn't know what they were talking about, they just read some BS marketing from AMD. But if you feel more comfortable, the EXPO timing kits aren't that much more. The G. Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB kits run about $20 more and have the EXPO timings.

    • @Snafu2346
      @Snafu2346 7 месяцев назад

      @@PCBuilderChannel Yeah I wasn't sure. They said that Expo RAM was "Specifically tuned" or designed for AMD. I tried to order some EXPO gskill on Amazon but the white RAM in 6000 cl30 was backordered. (it was a mess on Amazon).
      I tried asking a Tforce rep on Amazon (I'm not sure if its an actual Tforce vendor or whomever it is). They said it depends on my MOBO. Its an MSI B650 Edge. But I never got a response. So I honestly wasn't too sure. I do notice that a lot of Manufacturers be it Corsair, Tforce, Gskill do have EXPO variants. I think Tforce expo's are called (alpha) or I notice a little (a) on their kits.
      I assumed all to be true.
      I was doing a White Build around a Phanteks G500A and just wanted some white RAM. I ended up getting the only white RAM they had at Microcenter which was some gskill 6400 cl32. Its all they had. I drove all the way back to MicroCen which is about an hour away, also to get my discount on my 7800x3d as I got it for 350 and it dropped to 340 which they refunded.
      Still the gskill white 6400 was about 30 dollars more than the Tforce Delta white 6000 cl30 that i had originally wanted.
      I appreciate the feedback.
