A FEW IMPORTANT NOTES:
1: At the end I said cooling is not required. I went off script here, I meant to say "additional cooling". Any fans your CPU or case comes with are most certainly required.
2: A GPU is technically a component within the Graphics card (CPU is to Computer as GPU is to Graphics card) but if you're thinking about building a computer the terms are used interchangably. Every graphics card comes with a GPU inside of it and they are often referred to as GPU because that is the defining characteristic of a graphics card.
3: Solid State Drives are the same thing as hard drives, just with less space and faster speed due to the lack of spinning disks.
4: A GPU is technically not an essential part of a computer. You can boot without it. But to do almost anything desktop computers are good for, you will need a grahpics card.
A brief explanation of what each component in a home PC does. Кино
Ah so the RAM is your inventory slots and the Hard Drive is your Chest, thanks minecraft
And SSD's are shulker box
I was thinking the exact same thing lol
No, your RAM is your hotbar and your Hard Drive is your inventory.
Hotbar is cpu cache
Well said
FINALLY a video that actually helps beginners and not assuming we already know all this!
Very true Haha
Just watched someone else and I was like what the fxck is he talking about 😂
I have this problem watching people like Linus.

Motherboard is your heart
CPU is your brain
Hard drive is your long-term memory
Ram is your short-term memory
Psu is your stomach
GPU is your eyes
Thermal paste is Incognito

"You can think of it as an extremely advanced AC adapter"
Me: "What is an AC adapter!?"
Your phone's charger.
Anything’s charger
It is ana acronym that refers to the Alternate Current (energy).
To make more context you have to know that out from your socket comes Direct Current (see videos that explain what Direct Current and Alternate Current are). What the Power Supply in you PC does is converting this Direct Current (or DC) in Alternate Current (AC), so your computer doesn't fry and distributes the energy throughout the entire components.
@@0918only lmao ac = anything charger
YESSS OMG
I have to say, Sir. These videos have been so informative, I can't stop watching them. I was raised around computers, Dad has built every computer he has ever owned. Because of that I built my first at age 14. Joined the Army, put the computer knowledge to the side to seven this Nation. However, 10 years ago I was given a TBI (traumatic brain injury) which depletes my short-term memory and hinders my very old memories. These videos awoken that side my dormant brain. It feels so good to begin to remember that which was dormant in my brain. Thank So much!
I just started my journey for IT Solutions Apprenticeship. And first lesson was on Computer Components, and you explained it so much better and in less time. And someone in comments improved it a bit further. Than you so much

Dude I’ve watched like 50 different vids on trying to know which part does what on my new pc and this video legit helped out more than anything thank you so much!!!
A good example I think is that the hard drive can be seen as the basement, where there’s lots of storage but it takes long to get. But the Ram can be seen as a closet where it’s faster but less storage.

Your explanation of them is easier, thanks
And the CPU is the person who lives there and is deciding what they need so they go back and forth moving things around

*SHORT SUMMARY:*
PC is made up of 7 main parts:
Case - Holds everything together.
Motherboard - Connects all the parts to each other.
Power supply - Gives everything power.
CPU - Tells the other parts what to do and when to do it.
Hard Drive - Stores programs and data.
RAM - Allows you to use those programs and view that data.
Graphics Card - Lets you see everything.
Well put! I was initially going to say your CPU explanation is too simplified, but the more I think about it pretty much everything the CPU does can more or less fit into that explanation.
About the graphics what kind of games can you play on it and when do you know if you need a upgrade for it?
Some cpus have intergrated graphics which can render simple 2d scenarios like docs. However the graphics card can render parts in editing software or gaming. The cpu just processes what everything does
physicks_ytッ If u are willing to learn, don’t learn from comments. Bitwit is a great RUclips channel which explained it. Essentially the graphics card renders all the images on the screen. For more intense gaming or editing you need a good graphics card(1050 ti or Obove probably) and a cpu which doesn’t bottleneck. Bottlenecking is when one part prevents another parts full potential
H3Vtux does the graphic card help you get higher fps?
Just what I've been looking for, a quick overview with pictures. Thank you, kind sir!
Hard-drive = Minecraft inventory.
RAM = Minecraft hotbar.

Haha, teaching life hacks. Just use someone else's video to teach for you.
Honestly though, that sounds effective, an edited video makes it easier to concise long information more directly and in less time. And if someone has questions, you could use the extra to answer them. Making more use of the time period

This was honestly so helpful and amazingly explained. I'm currently looking for a new computer for college, and this video helped me understand alot about them before buying. Great work!
Thank you so much for this, I didn’t realise how long I have taken PCs for granted and when I finally began looking up more about what goes on behind the scenes I find this very helpful video introducing me to this fascinating way that computers work.
Okay, I’m 4 years late but…How pleasurable was that? Straight to the point, didn’t talk a lot of crap about things that’s irrelevant. Extremely informative. I have to subscribe to this channel.
Finally a video that's starts at the VERY beginning. Really helpful and not patronizing, thank you
This was amazing man 2 years old but gave me the fundamentals of the different PC parts thank you so much
This is very well done and straight forward. Recently, I was discussing hardware requirements for Microsoft Teams with my 5th grade class. I was forced, of course, to use terms like CPU, RAM, etc., but many of the children hadn't learned this vocabulary. Take pride in knowing that your explanations are so straight-forward that all of my students understood basic computer parts and their functions by the end of your video--that's quite the accomplishment! Thanks.
I learned a lot from this short video about computers, thank you I subbed right after finishing
This is one of the video we call "a gem". Nice and clean explanation.
I usually don't comment but this was by far the best simple explanation of how a computer works that I have ever seen, of course it just covers the basics but a lot of people want to know just that. Great work.

Five years later and this is still the best video. For showing my friends. What I'm talking about with computers.
For those who don't understand the true role of the GPU/Graphics Card I'll tell you a thing:
So to better understand the true role of the GPU just imagine a person that has eye problems:
This person would see the world around very VERY blury and unclear _alone_ without glasses; *Just like a motherboard ALONE without a GPU when projecting graphics on the screen; very blury and impossible to read.*
Now imagine if this person would start wearing glasses. This person would see the world around VERY clear and 'colorful' _together_ WITH glasses; *Just like the same Motherboard TOGETHER **_WITH_** the Graphics Card this time; projecting everything clear now!*
So basically the GPU is like "glasses"...
And, yeah... I hope you understood! :)))
Interesting explanation, thanks!
