    I like how you take the time to discuss older models like this and the ZT0095. Everyone else keeps racing to be the first to post about the latest and greatest. That's all good, but many older models still merit discussion about things like long term usage, their relevancy compared to newer similar products, and potential upgrades and iteration development. Speaking particularly to your reviews of the ZT0095 and 940, as you imply both have been around for a while yet both still hold their own. Keep up the good work!

    Awesome video. Lately I’ve grown tired everyone’s quick drive by reviews and no new vids on the classics. It’s refreshing to hear you share your actual prolonged experience with the 940. Keep it up Mr. Complex.

    I just got delivery of mine today (08/19/2023). I love it. It came perfectly centered with no play and no rock. It still doesn't want to drop but I'm going to treat this the same way I did with my Mini Grip. It haven't touched the pivot screw and I did not add oil. I just let it break-in naturally. Doing the same with this. First impressions are extremely positive.

    Beautiful knife. I found mine at the base of a cliff far off of the trail while rock climbing. I took it apart and fixed some stripped screws, sanded the rust springs shiny, sharpened it, and now I carry it everyday. Very corrosion resistant, I found it in a bad state. If only the idiot before me didn’t ruin the blade finish sharpening it the wrong way.

    Thanks for the channel. I'm new to the knife community and recently bought my 940-2. I know it is dated and perhaps even antiquated, but I am a big fan of this knife. I was able to nab it new for $155. I think it is a classic and stands up to time test amazingly well. Mine is dead on centered and felt broken in from the get go. I also own a 945 Mini Osborne - Green alu scales and it is nice also, but not as fun bc of my XL hand glove size. I will own a 940-1 one day when I can grab it for $220 or so. Thanks for reviewing this "old standard". MC's doing so just proves its validity it todays world. I own a Hinderer Jurassic Tri-Way, 2 ProTech's, 3 Giant Mouse Ace's, other more contemporary Benchmade's and so on, and will always have a 940 in my stash. Thanks again and keep em comin MC .

    I just received this BM 940 knife today 05/17/2019 and it is absolutely beautiful with the green aluminum scales and purple back spacer with the fantastic axis lock deployment is very smooth and it is extremely razor sharp this is my 3rd BM and not my last. :-)

    If you own this knife and the assisted opening is a bit tight- take a micro screwdriver or allen wrench and loosen the black nut above the axis lock just a tad to adjust to your desired play.

    The only thing I didn't like was that mine came rather dull. Fairly quick fix and I'll eventually re-profile it later on. But I agree with your assessment which is similar to that of most reviewers. It's a very fidget fun knife that has great utility after a resharpening session. Maybe a slight hollow grind would have been nice. The Rat2 and the Vanguard Dukes are more slicey and just as capable in EDU (every day use) as the 904-2 from my experience. But this stays longer in rotation because of the axis lock fidget fun factor.

    I couldn’t stand the green barrel spacers so I soaked them in a product called Whink rust stain remover. About 5-10 minutes and all the anno was stripped. Much classier look IMO

    • @ReX-Ray
      @ReX-Ray 5 лет назад +2

      Wow, that’s a great idea. I have been wanting one for a while, but the green barrel spacers just don’t set well with me. Great, you just cost me $200.00 + the Whink 🤨. Thanks. I wonder if paint stripper would work too.

  • @joekhan994

    The production of the 940-2 seems a lot less professional and precise than the normal version. The action can vary a lot and the g10 scale can have finishing issues quite often. Not mentioning the noise of the axis lock bar rubbing on the blade. Handled four of them and turned back to the original eventually which worked perfectly, just personal experience.

    Since I can get it at my local PX for 139 I’m considering this, the griptillian, or the bugout for my first benchmade. Tough decision though. I do love my delica but wish it was larger

    • @havoc1zero
      @havoc1zero 2 года назад

      Did you decide yet? If not, I’d recommend the aluminum handle 940 or the full size griptilian in 20cv and g10 handles. I have both and neither has disappointed. I’ve also used both on deployments to Afghanistan and both thrived there. They are definitely hard use knives. The bugout I do not own so I can’t speak on it.

    • @fireemblemistrash75
      @fireemblemistrash75 2 года назад

      Dont get the bugout. Personally I find it so so. The handles definitely are a weakpoint. They are most certainly not bad, hell no, but the weight is so off because the blade is the only thing that weighs anything

      @@metal_complex I recently bought one and just got it (being from overseas) and I really like it. The QC on it was perfect, the action is probably the best I had compared to all the 940s I have handled out of the box. And I like the looks of it. But I got a soft spot for BMs 940 line, so I am quite biased :P

    Cool shape but too long for my taste; I prefer 3'" or under due to being in NY allot. Gotta stick to my svord peasant mini. I already have a slim shorter knife already; I do not need a long slim one. Great knife but laws are a pain sometimes.
