@Johnny Chimpo True, but the stones live are just unbearable to me. And I listen to them all day long every day. Weird. I went to see them in 1981 "Tatoo You" tour and I sh't you not, I walked out. There was the Clash, Police, and some other bands.

It’s weird how a song can trigger such detailed memories. I was probably 4-5 years old, but I remember my dad showed me this song, and cranking the volume in his 69 Buick… I would do anything to listen to this song again with my dad. 🙏

What are you talking about? Hang Fire was a hit in the US! It peaked at #20 on the singles chart. It looks to me, and most sane people that it got its rating right there.
The Stones don’t play it much so maybe that is why you seem to think it is “underrated.” It is properly rated, it was moderately popular and it no longer is.🤷🏽‍♀️
Oh and I agree with your opinion, everything except the underrated part. It is cool to love a thing that most people don’t.

Mick is one of my favorite lead vocalists. not for his out and out "range", which did improve over the years, but it just seemed like his "delivery" was always exactly what each song called for. ...and his "presence" was always so oddly entertaining.

    LYRICS
In the sweet old country where I come from
    Nobody ever works
    Yeah nothing gets done
We hang fire, we hang fire
You know marrying money is a full time job
    I don't need the aggravation
    I'm a lazy slob
I hang fire, I hang fire
Hang fire, put it on the wire baby
Hang fire, hang fire put it on the wire baby, go ahead
    Hang fire
    We've got nothing to eat
    We got nowhere to work
    Nothing to drink
    We just lost our shirts
    I'm on the dole
    We ain't for hire
    Say what the hell
Say what the hell, hang fire
Hang fire, hang fire, hang fire, put it on the wire, baby
Hang fire, hang fire, hang fire, hang fire
Hang fire, hang fire, put it on the wire, baby
    Doo doo doo
    Doo doo doo
    Doo doo doo
    Doo doo
    Doo doo doo
    Doo doo doo
    Doo doo doo
Doo doo, hang fire, hang fire, hang fire

Doo doo doo, hang fire, hang fire, put it on the wire, baby
    Doo doo
    Doo doo doo
    Doo doo doo
    Doo doo doo

Yeah ten thousand dollars, go have some fun
Put it all on at a hundred to one
Hang fire, hang fire, hang fire, put it on the wire, baby
    Doo doo
Doo doo, hang fire, hang fire put it on the wire
Hang fire, hang fire, hang fire, hang fire

I love how they're fighting off laughter, keith having to turn his head to charlie, and then mick on a close up. they're pro's, they brought the shenigan's as their formula...people that don't get mick must only take him at first glance and not realize the underlying beautiful manipulator he can be. also a beacon for all music and a chameleon, just so much great material to research.
