@@brosnshows As for the overall rating, clearly below 8, I will give it 7.5 if I'm not in a good mood, and probably 7.9 if I'm in a good mood, and one of the causes of that rating is the lack of fighting skills and short-time fighting scenes like in the anime, and a very average CGI for fighting scenes. As for the plot and story, easily above 9, I will give it 9.15 for most, but overall, One Piece built its hype because of a good fighting scene, after all.

Yeah i feel the same i would give it a 7.5 out 10 not as good as the anime and manga but it comes close i wish the fight scenes were a longer tho but story is enjoyable honestly waaay better compare to the live action of cowboy bebop and death note 🙂
i also heard they have three season planned with netflix. we’re hoping to get the all the crew before season 3 ends. if netflix ever plan to get s4
I love how they were able to capture the soul of the story. Things change a bit but the essence remains the same. Definitely got me in my feels.
as someone who wasn't a fan of the original anime or manga and only started getting into OP after the LA, I'm so happy that original fans of the work love it too like 😭😭😭

I love this! I watched ep 1,2,3. It was much better than expectation and I teared up a bit since can't believe I get to watch OPLA. Never thought this day will come. Really hope more seasons to come.

not sure if anyone mentioned this but zoro's actor mackenyu is actually trained in martial arts and did all of the stunts himself! he also acted in a bunch of other live action adaptations like rurouni kenshin so he already has experience with sword fighting (HIGHLY recommend that one if you haven't seen it already) and tokyo ghoul as well, man is a huge anime nerd and really does justice to the characters he plays

I'm a new fan and the fact literally all long time OP fans have LOVED this show praising how good it is makes me so happy. For me this was the best and most quality show I have watched in a long time 10/10 for me honestly🔥 the story of course but also the production value for this is absolutely mindblowing. We don't get productions like this anymore, not even in movies because it's easier and cheaper to just turn everything into a CGI massacre than take the actual time and money to build complicated sets like they did here or in movie series like Harry Potter for example.
I swear I really want to watch the anime now but RIP my university stuff and social life If I'm tempted to binge over a 1000 eps😂..

Like you I'm a new fan, I discovered OP with the live action and I absolutely love it! And so I've started the anime journey! But yeah, I have to admit, it did affect my "university stuff" - as, in my case, I'm a teacher and I have papers waiting for me to grade them for the last two weeks 😅

I've never seen or read any "One Piece" stuff before watching this, but I recognized one of my favorite actors Michael Dorman (Joe Pickett) as Gold D Roger! No spoiling please but I do hope I see more of him in some flashbacks!
Oh yes you will see much more of him.. BUT ONLY IN TINY TID BIT FLASHBACKS THAT WILL LEAVE YOU WANTING MORE

I'm super happy and super love the first episode. After seeing the trailers, I knew I'm gonna love it. The actors bond and chemistry actually so good. Oda did so great casting these wonderful actors. You see how much passion and hard work they put on this.
So as the people who participated making this live action. They did so great. This literally exceeded my expectations 🙌

If this had been a flop, think how many people would have said "we knew it couldn't be done with that show! " we have been vindicated and I can't wait to see what other shows get done with this level of quality ❤😊
If you think about it, the live action gives us more than the same 50 ep of the anime since each one is 15/20 mins and book ended with recap and some episodes are just repetition of flashbacks (you know it 😂) this gave us all of that story and lots to theorize about in the equivalent of 24 episodes.
Just so sad we have to wait for season 2…

I never got past episode 200 of one piece back in like 2008. I’ve been meaning to start it all over again and catch up but I never have the time. The live action has really made me want to make time for it tho. I love the cast, how they’ve been doing things, and your excitement watching this really makes me wanna try and watch the anime.

As a HUGE OP fan I LOVED episode 1. I’m watching a new ep every week to keep things interesting but I’m loving the little liberties they’re taking and honestly I prefer some of them to the actual anime and manga. Like Nami being a competent fighter before getting her Clima-Tact staff or Luffy and Nami meeting in Shell Town.
Glad they left out certain things too but wish they gave it 10 episodes
I love the beginning arcs, they’re what got me loving One Piece.

I was so excited about this show and they did not disappoint. I love it so much that i was crying and laughing and jumping up and down. And im 34, so thats not as easy as it used to be.
My only complaint is when Zoro calls himself a pirate hunter. In the manga he didn't pick the name or ever call himself that. But i dont care. This is still so good!

27:46 You’re thinking of flip flops. Sandals don’t fall off that easy. And there’s a reason why Luffy wears sandals. It’s because it symbolizes freedom to wear open shoes instead of closed toe shoes, which restricts the feet. But it’s a change that we can live with, since it was due to safety rules.
Sandals are not allowed on Netflix sets due to safety regulations so thats probably the biggest reason nobody wears them

After watching all eight episodes I give it 8.5 out of ten. I really love it! It's amazing. Definitely better than what I expected.

great reaction you guys! I'll admit the show is faring a bit better for me now when i've seen a proper episode, i kept my expectations low during the trailers and wasn't fully convinced they'd ever manage to make a good live action adaptation of any anime.
But with this i think they will either set a solid standard fo what future adaptations need to aim for and thus help the whole industry of live action adaptations finally make it up to par. or it'll just stay the clear superior adaptation above all else. either or it means One Piece live action is great ^^

Over here in Australia we walk through the worst kind of bush with sandals.
Snakes, venomous fish with spines that can pierce boots, spiders, ants the size of your finger, venomous plants with nerve toxin, and it gets so hot that the roads melt.

@@brosnshows the reason that sandals are better in tropics is due to a lot of reasons. Fungal infections being one. Feet sweat.
The next is that things like to hide into your boots. You don’t want to shove your foot in a scorpion, snake or spider nest.
Next is that while your walking through brush things can get inside your shoes, and you suddenly have to spend two minutes taking off your shoe. While a pair of thongs might not offer much protection, you can brush off the threat.
That’s such a good point never thought about it like that, coming from Florida I just rocked no shoes for most of my life haha you get used to it

The mad lads actually did it. Live-action One Piece actually works. I cannot believe Tomorrow Studios brought this wacky world to life in such a believable way. This really puts the Cowboy Bebop and Death Note adaptations to complete shame. Those 2 series were comparably much easier to adapt compared to One Piece, yet they both hilariously failed.
The creators of Cowboy Bepop and Death Note on Netflix should be ashamedddddddd

It's weird, I knew nothing about One Piece.....yet I was a big Ranma 1/2 fan almost 30 years ago. I should have known but didn't. I watched a reaction compilation video of it and immediately knew they did the source material correct. I'm now pseudo-obsessed with the show. It makes me feel.........."joy"? I have no urge to try to be a critic......I don't know how this happens.

@@brosnshows yeh, i read something about it. They mixed it. The original is "Monkī Dī Rufi" and you can spoke that with L or R. „Ruhfi“ and „Luhfi“. And by the way, Zorro is in germany Lorenor Zorro and in english Roronoa Zoro.
But i dont undersand why Ruffy? Luhfi/Ruhfi like Goofey ok. Ruffy? Its ok for me, i was 10 it the aninmee cames out.
We can barely hear the actual show. You guys are like twice as loud as the show itself. We should be able to hear it more. Other than that, great reaction. I subscribed.

So luffy doesn't wear sandals in the live action because, I shit you not, it is a Netflix Safety Rule that nobody is allowed to wear sandals on set. Weird that they couldn't make even a single exception, but I'm not too butthurt about no sandals so idm ig

But for me, I think Luffy suits Nami the best and vice versa. Cause their personality traits opposite of each other, it compliments each others weaknesses.
Also, Luffy is the first that value & acknowledging Nami's talent without trying to control/use her like Arlong. And he left his most valuable treasure the 'straw hat' to her when she asked for his help 🥲🥲🥲 dawwww

I really hope they don’t, I just think there’s things in the story that can just be what happened and they don’t have to rooted in PC culture or attacked because they happen. Obviously that gets hard for the time skip 🍈🍈 with Nami lol but I just think it would be fine to swap the actress to stay with what was canon and not have it be political about it at all?
She's already much smaller than she was in the original design, pretty reasonably sized. They get across her monstrous nature from her sheer brutality rather than her looks. I can see them maybe having the actress drop maybe 30 lbs if they even go that route at all, or they could just focus on the "smooth" aspect more than anything else

Man, your audio is terrible for the show, you can barely hear the dialogue at all and no one wants to depend of close caption. Also, you keep talking about what’s going to happen before it’s revealed, some of us are just seeing this for the first time and did not watch the anime, so there’s that.
You shouldn’t be coming here to watch these episodes for the first time anyway, you should support the release of the show on Netflix and watch the full episodes there. We appreciate the feedback on audio, passing copyright on RUclips is hard, there are some mistakes in elevated show audio in this episode that we have acknowledged but this was edited from 4am to 6am the day it was released and when you’re moving quick, mistakes happen, thanks for stopping by and watching. I’ve been watching reactions with people who have no clue of one piece and it’s been really entertaining to see their side ( my sister is a huge fan and I’ve basically seen the anime from how season 1 goes before the live action came out, so it was a good place where I left off).
It’s been though a very refreshing view to see people who are fans of the show and seeing how excited and happy you are with the show! 🥹🤣
