“The World Government doesn’t want freedom” - The way Pudgey caught on to one of the biggest theme of the story, in the first few minutes, is truly amazing
I mean this isn’t the definition of world government? And depends what you considered freedom, doing piracy for you is freedom? So yeah all world government wouldn’t let. No one is true free, all government have rules this isn’t the whole catch 😂, is just what it is a government
I didn't stop smiling when I watched it myself. Felt some other emotions later, as I'm sure they will too, but the raw sincerity and optimism at the core of this show is beautiful.
Mackenyu, the actor who plays Zoro, really has swords skills, because he has done other live action anime adaptation (like R. Kenshin) plus he is used to martial arts because of his late father, who was also a famous actor and martial artist in Japan. In terms of sword and fighting scenes, he's perfect for Zoro.
I'm really nitpicking here, i love the actor and he is extremely impressive in terms of swordplay and solemn charisma, but he's too smart. Zoro can be really dramatically dumb as much as surpisingly perceptive and we haven't seen the former side yet.
Watch the anime. Honestly I used to hate on One Piece just because it was the biggest one I didn't watch. But it is substantially better than it's 2 direct peers. One Piece is my favorite anime ever now.
Such a good live action adaptation. I thought all episodes were great and I just love the actors doing the characters justice. I can’t wait to see you do all of this season.
If they were smart, every casting director on the planet would be finding out who these actors' agents are. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of this show (already been renewed for a second season and I think they have plans for at least five), but I'm also going to be checking on their IMDb pages for many years to come, seeing what else they're going to appear in.
So well that Eiichiro Oda himself said that Iñaki was born to play Luffy & he had the straw hat placed on his head by him & Luffy’s Japanese voice Mayumi Tanaka.
Pretty much from his first second on screen, I was totally sold, and I really knew nothing about this manga/anime and went into the live action essentially blind. But wow, he's got so much charisma and a pathological enthusiasm and optimism.
@@fakecubed pathological enthusiasm is spot on. i heard from honest trailers he roped the crew in becoming his with toxic positivity and that's on point too :) If they keep up and deliver Alabasta, the next and first big narrative arc of the story where we'll see more of MR 7's Baroque Works, it's gonna blow everyone's mind like litteraly nothing ever did before... I ain't even exaggerating. Budget will need to be tripled though.
@@Eniril1 The show has a massive budget already. Netflix is all in on this. I hope the next five seasons are at least as good as the first one. Their intention is to do six seasons covering roughly half of the existing source material. Because every script must be approved by Eiichiro Oda, they can't formally renew it for the full run yet, but as long as they keep him happy with how they adapt his work it'll definitely be happening and I think Netflix will spend whatever it takes. This is meant to be their new flagship series, the company is actually profitable now, and it's winning them lots of accolades.
@@fakecubed Well i thank you for the patience of putting this treasure trove of informations at my disposal, sadly i knew most of it already ^^ I'm a lifelong fan, i tend to jump on any news. There are ELEVEN SAGAS. Even A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) is 50 hours shorter to read with 5 books ranging increasingly from 700 to a 1000 pages. So East Blue being by far the easiest to turn into live action, and the material becoming increasingly hard to adapt, (already a hundredfold by Alabasta's beginning, and especially with Oda's watchful laser gaze domineering from above) 4 times the budget is actually on the low end of what would be requiered, especially if they keep up building real sets and ships with that level of fidelity. Post-production alone is gonna take most of that cake. The first season took them 2 years and 118 million dollars to produce... And they couldn't fit it all. And it was the baby steps. I genuinely love watching new One Piece watchers. As a real fan, it makes me more excited to see people enjoy such an amazing story. I also enjoy knowing your questions and the answer to the questions you haven’t even asked. Can you hear them 🎶??
Yeah if you watched One Piece as a kid on tv, then you probably watched the horrible version of it which was heavily censored. Like they literally censored guys smoking cigarettes as sucking on lollipops. Hope this leads you guys to watch the actually anime in full. Love the live action, but it leaves a lot out, and changes much just because of the budget they had.
Realistically, the only way to watch One Piece is subbed. It's not Dragon Ball Z, the Japanese dub is just leagues better, Colleen Clinkenbeard is just not Luffy.
It’s wonderful to be able to watch something with you guys. It’s been a long time. Your channel has grown so much. You must be incredibly pleased. Congratulations. I am intrigued by this show after the first episode, we’ll have to see how it goes.
Hello guys~ One Piece live action is one of my favourite shows of 2024. Other than being fun & enjoyable, I'm also thankful that the series has introduced me to so many good reactors and reviewers such as you guys. Enjoy the journey!
The Bugdet was huge btw, andd Luffys' charm is that he is not a perfect MC, and needs a crew to help him achieve what he wants, but also helping others achieve that as well and like any great MC they easily attract strong willed people like Zoro. Great Reaction
Welcome to the crew! Naruto would tell you are gonna love Luffy 😁🏴☠ One Piece will scratch your Naruto itch, they both are goofy but they both have that edge under the surface. One Piece does get super dark pretty often and is upsetting in many arcs, similar to how Naruto progressively gets darker as it goes on, but always has its back and forth with being goofy too.
One Piece does start a bit lighthearted (if you don't take into consideration some characters background, they're not lighthearted) but the show gets more darker and more complex as it is built.
I had no experience when I started the live action so I am biased towards it, but it strikes a perfect balance between serious and silly and creating characters you really care about.
One Piece is the best anime of all time ... as a guy who watched the "Big Three" and the whole DB franchise with some good animes like AOT, One Piece is outclassing every anime maybe bc i am a long time fan of this series and it gives me feelings, live lessons and joy that i didnt get from the other animes ... Its just one of a kind
Love your reaction! :D I’ve been a fan of one piece for around 10 years and tbh the “goofiness” of one piece is like just a package. Package of an absolute deep and serious story. Like the author once said that if he didn’t insert comedy so much, the story would get very heavy and tragic, and he didn’t want that. Can’t wait for more of your videos! :3 the first ep of live action was really nice. Glad you like it! I think the casting is just amazing!
Oh this is really exciting. I basically watched this show myself on a complete lark after hearing a couple people say it was good and that the live action anime curse was finally broken, but had no idea really what it was about. I vaguely was aware of the character Luffy, at least how he's drawn for the manga/anime, and that there's over a thousand episodes of the anime, but that was it. Pretty much the instant Luffy first appears on screen, I was sold. He's so sincere, and the show is so sincere. The people making this left all the modern day cynical garbage behind, and just did their best to bring this manga/anime to life, fully embracing all the wacky elements of it, and also fully embracing the heart of it: the positivity and optimism.
After seeing the live action version, I started watching the anime to see how much they had cut out from the first story arc. That was two and a half months ago, and I'm already a third of the way through the series. I tried watching it when I remarried, as my now ex-wife was a fan, but she would watch it when I was at work, making it too hard to follow. I'm surprised at how much emotion is packed into some episodes, which would have me legitimately tearing up. That the same episode would also have me laughing loud enough to scare the dog is a testament to the writing, though I won't deny wishing each episode wastes a quarter of its runtime with it's theme and recap.
first i fell in love with you and your got adventure and now you are covering my childhood fave live act. :3 looking forward - you are an admirable couple
I started to get into anime fairly recently and One Piece was a series I wasn't going to touch because it was too long, but I watched the live action as a way to give it a shot and was hooked on the world and wanted more. I gave the anime a shot but didn't really like it, so I tried the manga (my first manga ever) and blasted through it in a couple months. I think no matter how you continue you guys are in for a fun journey.
As someone who watched dbz and Naruto as my first shounen anime...one piece is my favorite anime...its just something about it that gives me joy and then sadness and recently in manga depression....please oda ..enough...lets go back to the present...
I started watching the anime after watching the live-action, so still an early fan. But my goodness, One Piece is so earnestly wholesome sometimes *THE SHOW DESERVES A HUG.*
Omg so excited that you will be doing this. I think you will love it, as take for example me, who isn't at all anime fan, but this was my favorite series in general of this year without a doubt.
The best part of one piece is that it can satisfy the casual viewer and the hard-core viewer as well. Its a goofy adventure on the surface and if thats all you want from the series you can enjoy it, but there's soooo much drama and depth to the characters and world to dive Into for those who want that as well.
35:21 As some other commenters have said, Luffy is 17, Nami is 18, and Zoro is 19. The actors are 20, 30, and 27 respectively (Zoro's actor, Mackenyu, actually turned 27 two weeks ago)
LET HER COOK!! I love hearing her theories. I know you didn’t get far in the series so im looking foreard to hearing all the new theories from the both of you. She actually is onto a lot of fun nuances in the series when she says stuff like “that Marine guy looks like he doesn’t want people out something”
I watched the live action right when it came out, ended up getting absolutely obsessed with one piece, and now I'm on episode 650 in the anime.. stay safe out there
36:42 the thing about denji as a character is that he just wanted to live a normal life and be a teenager cause he never got to experience that, he had an abusive childhood then had to work as a kid to survive when all he wanted was to live, that's why theres an emphasis about him just wanting simple pleasures in life like eating jam toast, enjoying a bath, being able to kiss girls etc. he doesn't have grand motivations but I wouldn't call him shallow or without depth, it only seems that way but if you delve deep to the themes of chainsaw man you'll realize how denji's journey to have real connections like family and a home is very central to it. the manga actually has a reputation for subverting the usual shonen main character tropes, I understand why most who watch anime wouldn't be into that sort of mc though
Awesome seeing you react to this. Never knew anything about this before I watched it and loved it a lot. Second season starts in 2 days and I can't wait.
Thing is i love the live action even more They are being completely loyal and respectful to the anime and manga while also somehow doing their own version of everything Buggy is absolutely an awesome character in the live action even compared to the anime and manga IMHO I dont know how they managed to nail the perfect balance between anime and credibility in this show but they somehow managed to do it, this is anime adapted into live action done right
Have a moderator guys (if not already)!! One piece community is positively huge!! There might be some spoilers, disagreement/agreement spoilers because I want you guys to have the sole opinion that you guys always talk with!! Fan theories, speculatios make a series special!! As an op fan ... I loved this adaptation very much!
man this live action was so cool just because i found so many other react channel with pretty awesome people joining the adventure. Hope you guys Like OP as much as us OP fans
I absolutely love yall accents! Btw when i saw the trailer i didn't think this show was gonna be that great and i never watched the anime except one time as a kid for the first episode but i really enjoyed this show. 5-8 are my favorites!
A note on power in one piece: devil fruits are one method of gaining power(s), but not the only. Some people are just ridiculously strong or fast. There is a power system called haki that pretty much all of the most powerful people use, but won't be explained at all in the live action (too early in the story).
I always find it funny when people react to the live action and think it's gorier than expected. There's so much gore and blood in anime, but because it's not "real" or live, it doesn't hit as hard. Great reaction, love this show!
Think of this as an alternate universe to the anime. There is stuff outside of the first 44 episodes that gets pulled into the show. Certain things are compressed and consolidated, certain things follow the manga, and certain characters not featured in the manga/anime at this point of the story get more screentime in order to write a show that suits a live action format for modern audiences.
hi and very happy to start the show! first thing “we watch heavier things and it will be cool to watch a fun adventure” laughing in a onepiece. Spartan, you must have watched the TV series that was borrowed in English, and the same version came to Brazil, and they censored a lot of things, so it's something more serious. This season is perfect but the anime is so worth it! One more interesting thing, Garp the old man at the end, he's Lenidas' coolest Spartan in the movie The 300, the man who gets impaled and kills 3 with his spear 😂
as a hint for naruto/dragon ball fans, the bounty is the authors way how how powerful each person is, it shows how much of a threat the world gov considers them to be. so the bigger the bounty the more powerful they are. hence why the bounty sheet for each new character.
I like how the showrunners tackled the approach to OnePiece by showing brutality in Ep1. For so long, OP has been seen as "childish", and shrugged off, only those who entered know how it is. And the showrunners went, ok, lets show this other side of OP, then swipe the rug from audience with the Charming Luffy.
Definitely a strong first episode. Sets the tone and some of the main characters, it's entertaining and has good comedy. The show starts very goofy and will always find time to be but it does get more serious and emotional later. It sure is the best LA anime adaptation I've seen, even though that's not really saying much with the history they have.
really excited for Season 2, its been months since I've seen OPLA but still amaze when watching reaction videos to this. really proud of the adaptation and hopefully u guys get inspired to watch the anime or read the manga because One Piece is just so great.
there is a therapist on youtube who breaks down each character and luffy from her has great emotional intelligence. not a bright spark but he reads people really well.
Anime Luffy has depth, he might come across totally different than LA Luffy, when it comes to savage nature. Luffy has layers, but he will say what he feels like.

Because of the live action, I am now watching the anime and trying to catch up. Been enjoying it so far. Thanks for the reaction.
yessssssss.. how do you guys know what to watch next. spot on since i started this journey of GOT with you guys, you guys are watching the best shows
Welcome aboard to the most epic and emotional adventure!! :)
Awesome seeing you react to this. Never knew anything about this before I watched it and loved it a lot. Second season starts in 2 days and I can't wait.
Thing is i love the live action even more
They are being completely loyal and respectful to the anime and manga while also somehow doing their own version of everything
Buggy is absolutely an awesome character in the live action even compared to the anime and manga IMHO
I dont know how they managed to nail the perfect balance between anime and credibility in this show but they somehow managed to do it, this is anime adapted into live action done right
OMGGG IT'S HERE I LOVE YOU GUYS 😭
I was so pleasantly surprised that they actually pulled this off
Yayyyyyy! Finallyyyyyy! It IS your reaction, guys, I've been waiting to see all along! Thanks so much! Diving in!
I was waiting for this!!! So excited for this as I am a Naruto and One piece fan!!
Love that yall watching this
OH FINALLY!!! I'm so glad you guys are watching it ❤
man this live action was so cool just because i found so many other react channel with pretty awesome people joining the adventure. Hope you guys Like OP as much as us OP fans
I absolutely love yall accents! Btw when i saw the trailer i didn't think this show was gonna be that great and i never watched the anime except one time as a kid for the first episode but i really enjoyed this show. 5-8 are my favorites!
Always fun when people say one piece is lighthearted, especially after the recent 10 chapters.
“The World Government doesn’t want freedom”... core element of this whole story
I want you guys to watch the whole one piece anime just so i can add your tears to my fine collection
Finallyyyyyy been hoping you guys would jump on this. Good job requesters 💪💪💪💪
I’m so happy you are reacting to this!
Whats great about One Piece is that it gives me a chance to revisit all the reaction channels that I watched way back during The Last of Us series. :)
duuuude, thats meee ahahahahah
I always love to see naruto fans watch one piece and love it like naruto oe even more , I recommend you to watch the breathtaking world of one piece
Of course Spartan immediately compares himself to Zorro and says they're on the same level :p It never fails when there's a strong, cool character.
as a hint for naruto/dragon ball fans, the bounty is the authors way how how powerful each person is, it shows how much of a threat the world gov considers them to be. so the bigger the bounty the more powerful they are. hence why the bounty sheet for each new character.
Finally, been asking for months for this!
4:50 ugh wow. You got an observation there. One Piece themes always spinning around freedom, especially for the MC, Luffy.
Haven't commented in a long time. I do hope you guys enjoy the series
really excited for Season 2, its been months since I've seen OPLA but still amaze when watching reaction videos to this. really proud of the adaptation and hopefully u guys get inspired to watch the anime or read the manga because One Piece is just so great.
After this, please watch the anime. Even in your own time just watch the first 10 episodes and I know Pudgey atleast will be hooked.
The dude loves Naruto and Goku, no way he won't be hooked on Luffy as well.
@@robbiemedica2652 fr, he's gon see a person in help and think Luffy gonna give a damn like Naruto😂
@@robbiemedica2652 I was kinda aiming for the most emotional target, but I agree both of them will be hooked
Finally! I was wondering when will you guys start this :D
Awesome reaction! Hope you enjoy the show. Question, Spartan where did you get that shirt? I really love it! Thanks in advance.
Culture Kings!
YES OMG I'M SO GLAD YOU GUYS ARE WATCHING ONE PIECE
there is a therapist on youtube who breaks down each character and luffy from her has great emotional intelligence. not a bright spark but he reads people really well.
Buggy actor is Jeff Ward who was in Agent of Shield
That Buggy intro is probably one of the most iconic intros to any anime character ever!
Yay I've been waiting for this! Glad you've started this journey
If you guys end up starting the anime, I'll absolutely join up on the Patreon.
7:52 I like that you felt the need to blur that out when it's clearly just a can of tomato sauce thats been dumped on the floor 😆
its for the YT algorithm not to flag it, we of course don't care
DING, DING, DING!!!! Pudgey got the essence of Luffy right away!
I’ve been watching the anime for the first time and they’ve made it to the Grand Line. It’s so good. Violent and bloody too
Anime Luffy has depth, he might come across totally different than LA Luffy, when it comes to savage nature. Luffy has layers, but he will say what he feels like.
Definitely recommend watching the anime
21:58 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 when you told her she wouldn't make the cut i died
Glad we got this!
I WAS WAITING FOR U GUYS TO THIS
"That's not what I was expecting!" Yeah, that's gonna keep happening haha
I notice whenever she moves or gestures or fixes her hair she watches herself in the monitor
mackenryu who plays pirate hunter zoro played a villain role on one of the rorouni kenshin movies
