The actor who plays Zoro has an actual background in martial arts, and was trained by his father who is famous Japanese actor, Sonny Chiba who you may also remember from Kill Bill vol.1 as the man who gave Uma Thurman the katana that she uses. Mackenyu who plays Zoro is also very popular in Japan, and has played in numerous films like Rurouni Kenshin: The Final, and many more

I've now watched the first two episodes; I had never seen the anime, but I am IN LOVE with this show!! It is so refreshing and both totally silly but also at times surprisingly dark and serious - just a perfect mix so far! Makes me want to watch the anime too...
27:26 It was 3 episodes of anime (But this is one hour while anime episode is around 25 minutes). Live action skipped some incidents and merged many. For example, here Nami joins the crew in the Marine HQ. In the anime, they never meet here. She just stole the map and leave. It took a lot of effort from Luffy to make her join later. Also, Koby had a bigger role in the anime episodes and Lufy helps Koby to join the Navy. So a lot of smaller events like that are merged probably might be to speed up the episodes.
That was so fun seeing your blind reaction, it took me back 2 decades ago to when I first started this journey and was shocked to learn Luffy was a rubber-man. I hopw you continue reacting because there are several points I'm really curious to see your take on.

Fun fact: Mackenyu, the actor for Roronoa Zoro was previously acted in Rurouni Kenshin live action as the final villain. So you can trust his katana skill in One Piece.
I find it funny that Jaby was wearing a shirt with a fox holding a knife in its mouth because the character with the swords Zoro also does it and Zorro in spanish means Fox. It was destiny which means Jaby has to wear that shirt in every reaction now.😂

As a fan of the manga and anime, it is AWESOME to not only see a a version of One Piece with its own take that isn’t just adapting the source material 1:1, but also see new fans who aren’t into the series.
I watched this series when I came out in America but didn't really get to far cause life, so I don't know if they did it right but. Damn this makes me so happy that I wanna watch the anime to compare.
One Piece as a story is one of the greatest pieces of fiction ever written. Every single question that you have right now will be answered in the future arcs (of the anime or manga). For example if something is mentioned in episode 200 will be fully explained 500 episodes later. The scale of world-building that Oda did is incredible.
After putting it off for so long, I started watching anime after the first few live action trailers were dropped earlier this year. I’m about 230 episodes in, just starting the water seven arc, and even though there are some things about the anime that I don’t like, I get the hype, and it is a really good anime. I’m not going to say whether I think the manga, anime, or the live action is “better”, especially since I don’t have the history and nostalgia other one piece fans have for the show. However, this is the best live action adaptation of an anime I’ve seen ever. The first season covers probably the first 60 to 70 episodes of the series and I think that Netflix did a pretty great job at condensing so much story in such a fun and digestible way. I’m also really enjoying some of the creative changes that Netflix’s production made to the plot and some of the character relationships, specifically the relationship between Luffy and Koby. Probably my favorite change of the series tbh. I’m glad that you guys like it and I’m really hoping that season two come sooner than later!

Your opinions, and people like you who have no prior reference on the One Piece series, are very important in expanding the IP's reach. I like that both of you picked up on the fact that this is an adaptation that is faithful (sometimes to a fault) to the series' roots as a manga.
They made luffy a little nicer here. When coby tells him his tragic backstory of how he got captured by pirates, luffy calls him stupid and a coward and then proceeds to tell him that he hates him with an innocent laughter. It’s not luffy being mean or a bully, just him being straight forward.
Watching you guys reaction to this makes me remember my first time watching One Piece, I was sucked in by the character and the world too. This adaptation is faithful and they nail the cast, who said you need big actors to sell a show, just cast someone perfect for the role.
There's a fan project called "One Pace" that re-edits the anime series to bring it closer in line to the manga and removes all the filler. Removes a bit over 50% of the total time. Although there will be some changes regardless, I've read the show is an adaptation of the manga and not the anime.
The episode covered the first 7 chapters (4 episodes in the anime), but it also took a few scenes from later chapters and moved them up to bring Nami into the crew earlier. And you're right, in the manga, Koby did play a much larger role and got a lot of character development, which was off screened here. There were a lot of scenes that were cut, but they got most of the important scenes. A lot of scenes were changed to be slightly more realistic and take less time. A lot of scenes were actually multiple scenes from the manga combined together. And most of the Nami scenes are original, since she wasn't a big part of the story at this point in the manga. It's pretty impressive how much information they were able to condense into one episode. They also changed the plot slightly to give the episodes better continuity through all the cut content, but I felt the changes were well thought out and made sense. The characters are definitely faithful to their manga counterparts in spirit. I think this show has been really good at knowing when to change things and when to stay faithful.
As a LONG time One Piece fan (almost 20 years and counting) I am delighted with how they did it 😁👍 A lot cut and changed like it has to be, but the heart is there and it's as faithful as they could make it, which is all I really needed. *I'm loving it so far, and if this live action entices anyone who hasn't watched or read One Piece yet, know that the original is also amazing and, for me, one of the greatest stories ever told.* One Piece is genuinely one of the things I love the most and I love seeing people enjoy it, hence why I watch so many reactions to it 😍

It's my first time watching OnePiece as well, and i'm actually enjoying it. I just started the animated series and it's not all bad. But i will be watching the live action version a bit more.
i heard one piece EVERYWHERE but never wanted to read its manga or watch the anime. main reason was the episodes reached 1000+ and it quite a lot to sit and catching up. luckily there’s live action and ‘hmm why not’ and as first timer, i enjoyed every single episodes. now i wanna watch the whole anime, i’m in love already 😂
The reason why I think it worked so well, it's because the anime it's bizarre and goofy most of the time, the world is very crazy and creative... SO you kinda accept the live action to have these "goofy" things and moments. Imagine translating Attack on Titan: is SUPER serious. If you have one wrong non-realistic thing the fans gonna get pissed. Not with One Piece =) I'm loving it. They did a great job!
Per Luffy and Nami falling out the window. Luffy is essentially rubber, so of course he's going to cushion Nami and falling like that does nothing to him.

I was really worried when they first announced that they will be making live action. I thought it was going to be a disaster
Where can you watch the one piece anime from?
Crunchyroll@@ayz322
I know it's not quite possible but I wish we could get a second season next year
😂seriously how long are Netflix gonna adapt the story because so far they have scratched the surface
THEY COVERED 65 EPISODES OF ONE PIECE
Why isn't it possible it's a success tho
@@ernestmaturan1389 There is a strike. Even if there isn't, they can't go from preproduction to release in one year.
@@denzelrobert they pretty much have covered episodes 1-65 in one season. When it comes to the anime, they add more filler than what's in the manga.
I'm so happy newcomers are loving this series! ❤
Mackenyu (Zoro’s actor) said he did have to hold a real sword in his mouth and it hurt his jaws pretty bad.
If you ever get the chance, you should look up a clip of Helmeppo. The mouth on the actor is more spot on than new fans will understand 😂
I can say they actually casted the entire cast for this SO well.
They should get him some kinda attachable mouth piece to out on to the sword. Because he's gonna be doing this for years. Lol.
that zorro third sword in his mouth was iconic surely for OG fans..i hope they can show good amount of fight choreography from him as he did in the anime series,he was bad ass with that third sword, please react more❤
I'm only about halfway through the season, but I'm really enjoying the show so far. It's just a lot of fun.
These are positive, wonderful characters in a fun & insane world. It's intermixed with serious/grounded and touching moments. Sooo uplifting...(what this world could use right now)...plus it just gets better!
This was a happy surprise to see both of you watching One Piece glad you’re enjoying it
I'll admit I clicked this video hoping you were fans of the series already, but I think I am more satisfied watching newbies watch it because this adaption was made. for. you. It's not just for us fans, it's a great gift to us, but it's to help you guys join our crew. Glad you enjoyed it, loved your reactions, looking forward to more. ❤️
This is way better than the live action version of Death Note. Can't wait to see the rest of the episodes. Awesome reaction you two. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Jabys shirt foreshadowing how the third sword is going to be used.😂😂
Wow! Didn't expect you to be diving into OnePiece ! Hope you enjoy it 🙌🏼
Wow Congratz on the 405K subscribers.
Oh wow, I didn't even think about the "Too tall" was for the outfit, nice catch.
That was so fun seeing your blind reaction, it took me back 2 decades ago to when I first started this journey and was shocked to learn Luffy was a rubber-man. I hopw you continue reacting because there are several points I'm really curious to see your take on.
Wow I seriously wasn't expecting you guys to react to this. Since you guys didn't react to the trailers I thought you weren't interested in it.
I'm so glad this adaptation is bringing in new viewers such as yourself.
Hope you guys check out the anime after this cuz it is amazing and I'm sure you guys are gonna love it.
Fun fact: Mackenyu, the actor for Roronoa Zoro was previously acted in Rurouni Kenshin live action as the final villain. So you can trust his katana skill in One Piece.
Never been more excited to watch a reaction from you two. :D
Zoro actually calls out his moves in the anime/manga. I was surprised at how he never calls them out in the live action
CAN NOT WAIT TO WATCH ALL THE EPISODES WITH YOU
I find it funny that Jaby was wearing a shirt with a fox holding a knife in its mouth because the character with the swords Zoro also does it and Zorro in spanish means Fox. It was destiny which means Jaby has to wear that shirt in every reaction now.😂
Broooo I noticed that too and I hate there aren't a lot of comment about this, this was a canon event, IT WAS MEANT TO HAPPEN!
As OP fan boy
- This series started in 1997 ( manga).
- S1 n S2 will just build up for the story
- This story not only finding Onepiece.
I am really excited to see your blind reactions to get a sense of how the show translates for new fans!!
the fox on Jaby's shirt is holding a sword with it's mouth😂😂😂
i highly expect this channel to react this series and then, here you are!! thanks to you guys
i appreciate that Netflix decide to do this in the same way as manga. when you respect the original and the fans now you can see the outcome, its impressive.
Yeeeees I’m so excited to see new people getting into this show! As a long time fan, this show bringing in new fans is already a bigger success than I could have ever dreamed.
Hope you guys enjoy the little bit of one piece you do get in this show cause it would be impossible to make an series on the longest TV show ever with over a thousand episodes 😅 it's literally like the modern day equivalent of the Odyssey but there's a reason why it's one of the most beloved anime of all time it's truly something special
Jabby even got that fox t shirt with knife in the mouth lol that's where the 3rd sword go haha
This show was magical. The casting and sets were stellar
Ok I'm subscribing for the rest of this reaction series! Can't wait for the next episod
As a fan of the manga and anime, it is AWESOME to not only see a a version of One Piece with its own take that isn’t just adapting the source material 1:1, but also see new fans who aren’t into the series.
Jaby, Zoro is just built different 🤣🤣
I watched this series when I came out in America but didn't really get to far cause life, so I don't know if they did it right but. Damn this makes me so happy that I wanna watch the anime to compare.
never thought you would react to this!!
So happy you liked the first episode. Looking forward for more of your reactions.
Yo! i'm always watching your MCU reaction and im glad you started your one piece journey!!! you are now a nakama!
This covers about ~100 out of ~1000 chapters, 4 arcs so they do quite a lot with this tv adaptation
Jaby's fox hound is also carrying sword in its mouth... coincidence with Zoro's third sword reveal! :D
I dont know how I can express my love for one piece. Its my no 1 anime of all time and I am so glad they made this show and its actually good. I love one piece man.
Welcome to the journey guys!!!! . . . As a huge fan of the manga and anime, I am glad to say, I loved the live action too. it exceeded expectations. . . .
IMO the best anime live action since Rurouni Kenshin !!! As a super fan I can see that they were able to make changes to help translate the anime series into an 8 episodes live action series while keeping true to the spirit of the anime 🔥💯
Alice in Borderland was a good adaptation as well
@@symphonixblades Really ?? I didn't know there was an adaptation for it. Was it made by one of the streamers ?? I just know thing's wasn't looking good when death note and cowboy bebop L.A came out, and now with one piece there's hope for series like a Naruto or Demon Slayer.
@@timothypolanco8622 it was made by Robot Communications Inc a Japanese studio, like Rurouni Kenshin it's an all Japanese cast and it was streamed on Netflix as well
Your opinions, and people like you who have no prior reference on the One Piece series, are very important in expanding the IP's reach.
Man said about Zoro "So far luffy chose the worst partner" ☠️😭...........Jaby is gonna get humbled real badly for this 😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣
Omg it is soo good to see you guys watching one piece ❤
yees yes yes yeeees i was hoping you guys did react to my fav series . All I can say is THIS DOES CAPTURE THE ESSENCE OF THE ANIME ❤
Yes! Dreams Friends and Hope
Jaby's t-shirt literally has the answer to where the third sword goes
As a LONG time One Piece fan (almost 20 years and counting) I am delighted with how they did it 😁👍
A lot cut and changed like it has to be, but the heart is there and it's as faithful as they could make it, which is all I really needed.
*I'm loving it so far, and if this live action entices anyone who hasn't watched or read One Piece yet, know that the original is also amazing and, for me, one of the greatest stories ever told.*
One Piece is genuinely one of the things I love the most and I love seeing people enjoy it, hence why I watch so many reactions to it 😍
I actually didnt expect you guys would see this! Excited for your reaction. You would love the anime
Always happy seeing people that never watched One Piece see this. As a lifelong fan of One Piece, this live adaptation is amazing. 👏👏
Came here from the pitch meetings, have been enjoing a good deal of your content, but watching both the live action as well as the anime and/or manga read along for me would 100% be something I'd join Patreon for. I would absolutely love to follow you on the journey of OP.
This is great live action imo. Although there are differences here and there but it still can deliver the story pretty well and engaging
I am so happy you decided to do this😭😭😭😭😭😭 been watching you guys for a long time and a huge fan of one piece, seeing this reaction is so amazing for me
Adaptation is better than other Adaptations...... I am looking forward for full crew cast. Robin and Franky, brooks. I am huge fan of One piece, the set looks very good
Great! Now both brothers are watching and as a hardcore One Piece fan, I can't thank you enough for doing this!
Hell yeah, Actually you guys are the main target audience. If this show makes you want to watch anime or manga then do it, It will be a journey of a life time
the window scene, Luffys made of Rubber and absorbed the impact for Nami.
I'm soooo happy you guys watch this! Also I noticed how the fox on Jaby's shirt also holds a sword in his mouth.
Dang awesome series! This will be big, bigger than wednesday, and at par with strangers things
Per Luffy and Nami falling out the window. Luffy is essentially rubber, so of course he's going to cushion Nami and falling like that does nothing to him.
I love your reactions! Glad that you enjoyed it!
THE ONE PIECE IS REAL!!!!! 🎉
jaby wearing that t-shirt and still wondering where that 3rd sword goes.
All the Japanese voices are done by the original anime voice actors.
