First time coming across this channel. I love seeing happy families. You can always tell by the kids; they're not afraid to be goofy and be themselves. You''re a good father, sir.
I love salt and vinegar cucumber chips. You're my favorite homesteading family.
she is growing up right before our eyes and a beautiful young lady
I love that all u work together even the kiddos work and have so much respect
WHATS UP MIKE AND FAM? Can you show what the cucumber chips look like after dehydrating??
I was wondering how they turned out too!
Me too! I tried shredding zucchini and dehydrated but they turned brown. Hmmm
Micah's so cute! Yum de dum dum, you outnumbered! Lol!
Can’t wait to see how the chips turn out!
Love your family videos😊
For the two of us and to give away an overabundance, we only need about 3 cucumber plants, two okra plants, three 5 foot rows of successively planted green beans, about 6 tomatoes, etc. Successive planting is the best way to not let the crops get away from us and have less to go in the composter. Giles
Love you guys!!! May God continue to bless you all abundantly!!!💖💖💖
I use cucumbers in stir fry and in vegetable soup. For soup, I just freeze seeded cucumber chunks. It's kinda like zucchini.
FYI : Those large yellow cucumbers are great for making German Mustard Pickles called " Senfgurken ". I miss them, they were outstanding.
I would love your recipe please
@@sissysimpson792
Note: You can cut into sticks or chunks: The old yellow cucumbers are better for this recipe and that makes it great when your stock gets out of hand and goes yellow before you use them for other pickle recipes. They should be pealed, seeded, and clear water washed.
German Mustard Pickles (Senfgurken)
Makes 2 to 3 quarts.
• For the Pickles:
• 4 1/2 pounds pickling cucumbers or English cucumbers
• 1 onion, sliced
• Fresh dill weed sprigs
• For the Brine:
• 2 cups white-wine vinegar
• 2 cups water
• 2 1/2 cups sugar
• 1 tablespoon yellow mustard seed
• 6 juniper berries
• 1/2 teaspoon whole coriander
• 1/2 teaspoon whole black peppercorns
• 1/4 teaspoon whole caraway
• 1/4 teaspoon whole dill seed
• 1/2 teaspoon whole allspice
• 1 crumbled bay leaf
• 4 whole cloves
• 1/8 teaspoon powdered ginger
• 2 tablespoons salt
How to Make It
1. Peel 4 1/2 pounds cucumbers, cut them in half lengthwise, scrape out the seeds, and then cut into 1/2-inch chunks.
2. Layer them in 2 to 3 clean quart canning jars together with some sliced onion and fresh dill sprigs.
3. In a large nonreactive (no aluminum) saucepan, make the brine by bringing 2 cups white-wine vinegar, 2 cups water, 2 1/2 cups sugar, 1 tablespoon yellow mustard seed, 6 juniper berries, 1/2 teaspoon whole coriander, 1/2 teaspoon whole black peppercorns, 1/4 teaspoon whole caraway, 1/4 teaspoon whole dill seed, 1/2 teaspoon whole allspice, 1 crumbled bay leaf, 4 whole cloves, 1/8 teaspoon powdered ginger and 2 tablespoons salt to a boil. Cook for 3 minutes or until sugar and salt are dissolved.
4. Pour the hot brine over the cucumbers in the jars to within 1/4 inch of the rim of the glass. Close immediately. Store in a cool spot or refrigerator. If you do not want to process further, keep them refrigerated or use proper canning procedures for long term pantry storage.
I remember those. So glad you mentioned it. I had forgotten all about those. They are delicious
I wonder if I really need to put sugar in it? My husband is diabetic.
@@1gr8lpta I too, would like to find a sugar free version that is safe to can. That's one of the reasons I can't eat them now. -also diabetic. (they are best canned because they sit for a while absorbing the flavors)
Glad you guys are feeling better. Lacey looks FABULOUS!
Yes. Glad they are all well and Lacey is looking amazing.
Michael too funny drinking the cucumber juice 🤣
Glad you are Feeling better . Hello from Pa. just got done my Son & I making pickles from our Cucumbers
Yum du dum dum! Thank you ! making some chips and ferment. You have beautiful children.Bless You!
I haven’t seen the goats in a while, WOW! They look FABULOUS
Happy to see the family well again.
Yum ta dum dum lol Micah is adorable
Nice to see a productive harvest. One thing I have learned over the years when making relish, use a meat grinder. Gives you smaller consistent sizes for onion, peppers and cucumbers, but makes it so much faster.
Super cute and wonderful children. I love that they’re so willing to try.
What a beautiful family. God bless you.
I'm glad to see everyone up and outside, feeling better. I love the taste testing. Too funny!
I was hoping to see the relish recipe. I have never tried that before. The chips are a great idea, too.
God Bless! Carmen
I'm glad to see everyone feeling much better. These are great ways to eat cucumbers. I've never juiced them but I'm going to try it. Please show us the dehydrated ones when they're ready. 🙂 Take care.
My mom always made a few pints of cucumber spice rings. They’re like candy and we’d only have them on special occasions. 😋
Omg I had never heard of these and now I have to try it. Do you recommend a recipe or whatever popups from Google will work?
I thought I was bad, with 3 refrigerators, & a freezer. I gave a bunch to the nursing home, neighbors, & made Garlic Jalapeño dill & Bread & Butter pickles. I have blue totes like that.
Those kiddos are too cute!!
Ok am I the only one who thought Mike reminded you of HOOTIE??? 🤣. Until you watch and really get to know ya Mike, you are HOOTIE, in a cute way, meant to be a compliment! ❤️ y’all, Kristy in Missouri zone 6b 😃🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yum dadumdum! Aww, he's so cute. :)
So glad y’all are up and going! Be blessed.
Great Dad and Mom you are ! Fortunate , blessed children .❤
Happy to see everyone on their feet.
Yum da dum dum!!! Love your precious fam
When you throw the chicken fresh produce it reminds me of the movie Cloudy with the chance of meatballs. 😊😊
😂😂It's raining food!
I was just thinking this morning about putting slices of cucumber in water like I had in a restaurant in Las Vegas.
I am happy you all are feeling better. God bless
I didn't even realize you had music going until 13:37 when it changed in perfect time to the streaker running by in the background.
Dill Pickle Relish, Sweet pickle Relish, the list goes on! Then there are Refrigerator pickles! Sounds like a plan!! GOD bless
You have a cute little helper
I love the beet juice. Yes, cucumber with mint or apple or ginger or lemon or beets... yum. The goats are loving the cukes, nice and juicy., I also love the fermented cukes,....yum! The fermented relish Lacie did looks yum too.
It was so nice to see and meet you at Doug & Stacy's homesteading conference the other year back---blessings to you and yours, Mike! Nice video...and thank you! :) Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :)
I never thought to dehydrate them. Thank you for the suggestion.
I would be inclined to set the fermenting lid to when it will be ready
I’m trying my hand at growing cucumbers at a community garden this year. I’m interested in the dehydrated chips, pickles, and I want to check if Maangchi has a video on Korean food with cucumbers. 😋
My favorite way to use Cucumbers in a drink is to add a fresh Lime quartered along with the Cucumber slices and let it sit for a bit in cold water. Yumm
what a cute family!
Using cucumber juice.... You can puree some other fruits like strawberries or blue berries, and add honey and make POPSICLES!!!!
Beautiful family.
That's a whole lotta cukes. Your tomatoes look good too. Last year my animals were sick of all the extra veggies I were giving them LOL. Nice to see the entire family involved .
I picked up a lot of tips and ideas. Will definitley make juice. Mika face i could not stop laughing.. You have such good children.
Cape Town South Africa
Love to see family, great to see y'all feeling better - out & about and harvesting! Been viewing & following for several years. Feels like family, I thoroughly enjoy the love & how respectful your kids are... You're both doing a fantastic job raising the kids & great at homesteading & growing your own. Shows excellent determination & diligence & hard work. Plus you put God first, always gonna be a "Win Win"!!! Be blessed!♥️😷♥️😷♥️😷♥️😷♥️
Add little bit mint to the juice maker then the taste n the smell will be still more edible....
Back when I was canning for my family I remember slicing my files and packing them, a clove of garlic, a handful of dill and.salt in my jars, sealing them and putting them on a shelf in the basement and they'd be.pickles in no time. I'm sure I've missed a step , but they were great dill pickles. Maybe we added a bit of black pepper! It's too long ago for me to remember?
Those are find memories! :-)
Thanks for sharing your memories!
Watching all the way from the Caribbean ( Trinidad ). I really admire your journey and your family mike. Not forgetting your humility. That is what draw me to your channel....
BEAUTIFUL FAMILY😍 LOVE YOUR CHANNEL LOTS OF HELPFUL INFORMATION MAY GOD GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS Y'ALL😍🙏
Haha sorry last comment but Im pretty sure you guys would like this idea.
Cucumbers and miso are a really good combo too! ✌🏻😘
First time viewer.Great video, really enjoyed watching you all working together.
Lol that was funny to watch them tasting the juice. Might be better when it’s cold. Think I’m gonna try growing cucumbers next year and juice them. Glad to see y’all enjoying the process and that you’re feeling better. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🌱👩🏻🌾🌻🌼🐓
Also, your videos are refreshing. Thank you for the links.
Put some sallt in that cucumber juice; it's delicious that way.
Oh my all that cuteness! Your kids are adorable and such good helpers!
Beautiful family
I have those round white cucumbers growing on my patio and they are grabbing on to everything in sight.
I have made Poor man's Cucumber Caviar or Roe and prefer it to the Real Caviar/Roe.
Peel English cucumbers, cut open and remove the soft seed section with a spoon then dice the cucumber into 1/8" to 1/4" bits.
Saute in a little cooking oil until they start to become a little rounded and change opaque in color.
Serve on cream cheese topped crackers or add to sour cream for garnishing appetizers or salads. You can change up the flavor by adding your favorite spices. Delicious hot or cold 😋
This is just the video I was looking for. What a beautiful family you are. New subscriber...yay!
What a great video on cucumbers! Thank you.

WOW! That is crazy ! I need some ferment in my life. Glad you guys showed this.
Love Mika's dimples! Fun video today. Thank you!!
Thanks for all the ideas.
Add some lime juice and sugar and a little water to your cucumber juice and the kids will probably love it!
That is awesome, the you are using the cucumbers
Lacey you look fabulous! Thanks for showing us how y’all use up your cucumbers.
I really enjoy your videos and I love the love and warmth your family shares with viewers. Stay well and stay safe, many blessings.
Yes, a nice blessing to have is too much but then you want it not to go to waste. I've been hearing about cucumber juice lately. It does sound like a refreshing drink. Using the dragon egg cucumbers for the juice? That looks so good. The kids are so cute helping you make it. I think I'd try mint with it. I've got to try growing the china jade cucumber. Thanks for mentioning it. I grow the marketmore cucumber. It was cute watching you hold them for the goats to munch Mike. That ferment looks so pretty. Cool, making cucumer chips. Thanks for this.
Looks great 👍
Another thing to do with cucumbers is to make Benedictine and dehydrate the pulp and grind into powder. Use as a hydrating drink or into smoothies.
Wow what a great job!
Ya'll are cracking me up! Glad I found your channel and ready to watch many more videos!! Plus really liking your content.
I take the larger cukes and dehydrate them…then I make cuke powder to add to soups, dressings and smoothies….
I love cucumber sandwiches…a sliced cucumber, tomato, sweet pepper on toasted bread with some Ranch or homemade dressing using yogurt, dill, salt n pepper. My husband likes Ranch with pickled jalapeños blended into it.
We also like cucumber slices with sour cream with a little sugar, chopped green onions, chopped celery and some chia seeds mixed in them.
I have to say your video is so clear..
Good to see you guys are doing well. Great video as always enjoyed every minute of it. So take care. ❤👍🤗🙏
