I know you are talking about pruning tomatoes, but all I hear is an analogy for The Word and how to bear good fruit spiritually! 😂 keep preaching even when you aren't "preaching"!! Keep the path straight and narrow, cut off the suckers so they don't steal your ability to grow good fruit. They can pop up quickly, even on the lower branches that you think are harmless. 😊 also, though, the suckers that are cut off can still be saved if they are planted firmly, watered and cared for. But does not have to be right next to the original plant to thrive.

I have one of the larger greenhouses from Harbor Freight . One problem that I had with it was the wind blowing panels off of it. I solved that problem by sealing the edges of the panel with a clear silicone . Now the wind does not blow the panels off. The greenhouse is not as large as I want but it works great for starting seeds for transplants. When it is raining I like sitting out in the greenhouse enjoying the rain with a cup of fresh coffee. I collect the rain for my drip irrigation. A battery powered timer turns the water on and off for me. I'm 78 years old so I use as many work savers as I can.

The hard pruning method is mainly for indeterminants. Determinants you can lightly prune so that there are no leaves touching the ground but watch out because they will usually fruit really low on the plant.

Tomato plants are great for practicing your pruning skills. For one thing , they are so determined to grow that you can almost do no detrimental damage to the plant by pruning. Another thing is that they respond quite quickly to your pruning efforts. Therefore you quickly see the results of different techniques. Then you can apply these lessons to other kinds of plants and have some idea of what to expect. In addition other kinds of plants will also grow new plants from the pruned cuttings. I often plant the cuttings from my blackberry plants. And then next year I will have new producing blackberry plants. Much better than having to buy more plants.
