Since i listened to the entire thunder saga, i wondered why he didnt take 6 sirens to sacdifice to Scylla. He obviously knew the price to pay from the start so i dont think the crew needed to die if he just thought things out beforehand and prepared. Is Scylla related to the Sirens in some way? Would she not eat them? Because thats the only way i see what he did being the only way

See at the end of suffering he sings "You should come onto the ship, we'll jump at the same time" So I figured "Penelope" was either starting to go on the ship or got on, which is when he shoots her and captures her. But this one can show the ruthlessness in a different way.
the fake Penelope seeing all her friends die in such a brutal way in a way It’s a really bad punishment then she brutally dying because she lives on that guilt
The minute the crew starts singing “HE is the man made monster.” Instead of “We are the men made monsters.” Is the moment you see Odysseus start to go too far in The ruthlessness direction. Any other soldier would have just stabbed them. Killed them quick. But Odysseus says “cut their tails off, throw them into the ocean so they will drown.” The most drawn out, agonizing death imaginable…not one of the soldier would make that choice.
I see it different way when they sing “HE is the man made monster.” is the crew start to have hope again that Odysseus will do everything to make them get home that why what Odysseus did in next song crush all crew any hope they had so much
There's also the aspect of "No more of us deceased now" because Odysseus decided to be the monster and is willing to do what it takes for as many of his men to survive as is possible, and I think it's amazing, gives me goosebumps realizing the change in lyrics honestly.
I see it more as a form of justice. The sirens now get to experience the death they bring to every sailor they have killed. A bit harsh, freaking yes, but not completely undeserved.
Ody casually out here giving sirens GENERATIONAL trauma. Can guarantee they won't be pulling their tricks in anywhere NEAR waters they even *think* he's sailing for a LONG time.

Outstanding job. I liked the focus on Penelope Siren as she helplessly watched safely from the water. It made me think of Odysseus watching his fleet being destroyed in Ruthlessness. I like the posing you did for the scenes of this anamatic. I really liked how you showed the wedding ring when he talked about wanting to get home. Also the horror on the Sirens faces really showed how dangerous Odysseus has become during his time at sea. I think my favorite part is when they sing about him becoming a monster you warped Odysseus into a monster that grabbed the main Siren.
I like to imagine that not only does the "Penelope Siren" survives and watches all this, but she comes back later on in Thunder Bringer. She's heavily wounded from the arrow shot at her, but she persists on following Odysseus until there's a time she can make his life miserable. When we get to Thunder Bringer, the part where we hear Penelope singing "I can take the suffering from you," it's the siren using her song to cripple Odysseus's will, to then finally let her wound take her away from life. Letting her die knowing the man who killed her sisters has to suffer losing his friends.
I adore this! I love the designs for the sirens and of odysseous, and I also adore how pretty much the siren is left to watch all her friends be brutally murered, as slowly and painfully as was possible. Brutal. She'd killed countless, but now that she was on the cutting board she was none too pleased. The animation is amazing. I love the parallels between Polyphemus, Odysseous, and The Siren, how due to her mistakes, most of them died brutally, and how he pretty much took the role of the cyclops, being in control and killing instead o fbeing killed. THe crews eagerness and happiness at how they won't suffer no longer is hearbreaking knowing what will come along next. And thank God that odysseous didn't give his adress again, the last thing he needs is vengeful sirens in Ithika Thank you for making it!

I've been waiting for an animatic of this song, it gives for some amazing visuals, I think I really loved the expressions on Odysseus, he looks so sinister and unhinged, he has seriously lost his patience, I love it. Some details I really liked were how not all the sirens were taken so when they're being killed you see the survivors watching everything unable to do anything, it adds an even darker spin to an already dark scene, how when he talks about Penelope we see his ring shinning and how at some point the Penelope imposter saw Odysseus as a literal big monster before he killed the sirens, it's so good. Great job! ❤
Something I haven't seen anyone else really comment on is the horribly upset expression with clouded eyes that Odysseus has on his face when the soldiers sang, "No more of us deceased now," knowing that the price that would be paid would be their lives. And yet he said nothing. Also, in the song, he sounds prideful of his ability to tell the sirens were there, yet the tone lowers to something more dark after he decided to kill the sirens. He decided to embrace the monster he needed to be for survival. It's just.. beautiful writing and beautiful animation to showcase exactly that.

I know the sirens' deaths were necessary, but this still felt...wrong. Especially because, like others suggested, they could have been used as sacrifices for Scylla instead of his crewmen. He feels...shortsighted. I hate shortsightness. It brings too much corruption and evil.
If he was going to kill the sirens anyway, why couldn’t he have saved them for Scylla. Mount the bodies on spears with torches so they appear standing and let Scylla take her pick. Or if they needed food, save the fish part of the siren and have some f’ing Sushi.

I love the designs for the sirens and of odysseous, and I also adore how pretty much the siren is left to watch all her friends be brutally murered, as slowly and painfully as was possible. Brutal.
