How are these holding up? I bet there's a lot of folks that are as curious as I am to see how these are breaking in. Any little details or insights on these would be much appreciated! I've got a pair of JK Fire Inlanders in EE width that I love, and a pair of Drews Loggers that are way too small for me. The leather on the Drews Logger boots is wayyyy stiffer than the JK Fire Inlanders, but still seems to be of good quality.

I got a pair in red or rogue I think they call it. The molded leather insole didn’t really break in *faster*, but it made the break in process far less agonizing. After a few weeks I had one loose thread on each boot which I cinched up with a lighter. Even after two months I still get some reddish dye on my socks when I wear white socks which I don’t do often. One sock liner has started to peel back, but the fit is so perfect for me I can’t notice it when I’m wearing them, only when I pull them off. Overall, these are fantastic boots. I may go with the 8” work boot next. That 55+ last is great for my feet.
As for people criticizing them for not being made in America... I have a dozen pairs of made in USA boots, but I’m not confused as to why my Doc Martens aren’t made in this country. Leon Mexico has just as rich of a leather work and shoemaking history as Northamptonshire and Spokane, WA. Let these people keep making great boots.

  • @sinakaedwards2009
    @sinakaedwards2009 8 месяцев назад +40

Mexico may have the best leather workers in the world. In my studies of life, I remember learning that Mexico and Spain have a rich history with cattle and leather. I believe Leon is the name of the city that is supposed to be the leather shoe capital of the world. Similar to buying a car from Germany or a katana from Japan. Mexico is cheaper than China labor wise right now, so there is that as well.

It’s funny to me that so many America first bros don’t realize that Honda, Toyota, and Nissan have been building more cars and more overall vehicles in America than any of the “domestic” big three have for over a decade now. The trucks have had some or mostly built in the UsA claims for that time, but the suv and cars have overwhelmingly been offshored. The Japanese brands have American companies here to handle this market and support more small towns like Smyrna, TN through economic turmoil more than Ford, GM, or CDJR have for years and years.
Quality knows no border, and supporting American now means supporting more things in America employing actual Americans at this point instead of just looking at legacy brand names.

I have had the 8" Combo Brown Loggers for a bit over a year now, and I love my pair. Took a bit to break in the leather, but that modified 55 last feels great and supportive. I've worn them for 24hr+ shifts as an underground pipeline technician, and my feet are not fatigued. They are a beast. When I need heavy work done, I wear those. When i need to be more nimble, I wear the JK OT, and when I'm on tarmac all day, I wear Whites Perry Select.

I ordered the contractor as well and absolutely loved the fit right out of the box. You’re right the smell is absolutely wonderful, like a leather shop. They’re modified/molded 55 last was so comfortable and easy break in. This was my 1st PNW boot and had heard the horror stories on the break in. After 3 weeks wearing them, I immediately ordered their 8 inch smooth/rough out brown boot. Both pairs were delivered in 2-3 weeks, not 18-52 weeks. I still have a pair of Nicks Chelsea’s I had ordered 11/21/23 and still waiting to start production. I was also hesitant in the sizing until I sent my foot measurements to their team and they had recommended 2 sizes down from my brannok and not my usual wide. But i am so glad for their help in sizing being a FNG to PNW boots. If they had the contractor in rough out brown I’d order them as well. So price/fit/availability and 2 pairs of the quality boots for 1 pair of Nicks/Franks/Whites, gotta make you wonder….

They remind me of the White's 350 Cruiser or Cutter boots. My Thursdays are made in Mexico and they are just fine. No flaws or defects. I have an easier time getting boots from there and then I do with China. When you cut them, you can see if they are built for the price. Would like to see some Russell's cut apart. Want to get a pair, but they cost as much as Whites or Nick's.

I recently got a pair of their Mexican made loggers. The build quality and workmanship is excellent. However, they are more like a 6oz leather, and not the 7.5-8oz leather they advertise. The roughout versions also tend to be heavily sanded in the vamp to even out the finish, making it even thinner than 6oz. They are actually very nice boots, but keep that in mind when you get them. They are not NFPA rated boots I would recommend for firefighters or career woodsman. For that, stick to the MITUSA Drews Roughshot, Nicks, JK, Whites, Franks, etc.
The Contractor series are probably the same or thicker, and I would definitely consider a pair of those. My roughout loggers are NOT nearly as thick as what Weston measured at 2.7mm.

I got a pair of these in December at Baker's and they're my favorite boots! The leather really does look and age not very differently from Horween Chromexcel in Natural. Aesthetically, the leather less consistent and looks like less of the grain judging by what the rough side looks like.
They are made larger than most other brands and I went a full size down from Brannock (a White's 55 last fits me perfectly in 10.5D and my Drew's are 10D and a little loose). I love the extra room in the toe box. I'm tempted to get another pair in the brownish red color, but realistically I'll probably keep saving for a pair of Nick's.

I have a pair of their loggers, same 55 last. Im 12m last time I was measured on a brannock, at Red wings they measured me 11.75. I got the 11m and they are actually a little on the loose side for me, Im swimming in the toe area, heel area is pretty close though. I wear them to work on a rotation and Ive had 1 stitch come loose, burned it off and well see how that keeps holding. Overall pretty good boot though, the arch support is no joke. Ive broken in my arch completely months ago but its still always present and noticeable. People who like med/high arch will like that. Leather is thick as hell and they sure are heavy.

Guys, a few weeks ago i bought a pair of these same Drew's contractor boots from Bakers Boots. These are the best built boots i have besides my Chisos #2s. They were listed in their "final few" section. They were factory seconds for 295 bucks! They show the pic of the exact boot youll buy so you can see the blem. Mine just had a stitch or 2 that was long around the arch and IDGAF. Weston had noticed right away the pronounced arch - just like i did, lol. It was just right the second time i wore them, plus i got flat feet anyway so its probably good for me. For your reference i bought size 10.5D, im a true size 11D (11 inch / 28 cm). i wear 10.5D in Redwings and grant stone. Also, since they are in Oregon you won't get shanked for tax. For 300 bucks OTD, what more could you want?

I received these exact boots last week. They are heavy duty construction. Will take some time to break in. Go 1/2 size down from brannock size. I have slightly wider feet at an E size. Ordered EE and they are too wide. The D size on this boot is more like an E with plenty of width and height so your feet don't get squished. Leather is not perfect and you will find some imperfections. Combination of a dressier work boot. They do have a heel so you will stand about 2" taller. Good boot for slightly wider feet with mid to higher arches. Pretty indestructible and 1/2 the price of other PNW boots.

Two reasons to choose drews:1) better leather ( read : not made with parts of the hide that are generally discarded) .2 ) Can be rebuilt, unlike the Patriots. Actually let's throw a bonus one in 3) Drews offers a wider choice of leathers . 🥂

    • @-sh1t
      @-sh1t 8 месяцев назад +6

@@kartikchary the patriots are built with the same work leather as everyone else in the pnw. “Lesser” parts just means the stuff with scars and veins. Just as thick and quality as the rest of the range. They are absolutely rebuildable, but the cost is nearly as much as a brand new pair so Frank’s doesn’t offer to rebuild them. Color choice and lack of rough out as an option is the only real downside to the patriot. The leather is better than drews, it’s built in america, using american products, and you are supporting a small business. Moral victory for sure, product is equal or better depending on what you want. The Drew’s are on a different last which may be more desirable depending on the person. The only “negatives” to the patriot are lack of choice, and one less row of stitching.

YES to Logger unboxing and cut in half! I am on the verge of buying a pair or will it be JK's? Or Drews? Man I can't decide!

if you're concerned in the slightest about spending the money..., get these.., they're 100% of the quality.. just get the 100 lug version.. its a stronger work oriented boot.. this rogue one is a little more style oriented

Well if you refuse to buy boots made in Mexico, you should also insist that Americans replace your next roof for twice the price, in a week instead of a day.

Honestly im not surprised, with the sheer amount of tanneries and leather workers present they can produce some insanely high quality footwear at a lower price

I have slender ankle and shin too. The only boot that fit me is from Nick's , because they can size down the upper for me.

I’m combat veteran and i got my first pair in of Drew’s boots, and comparing them to JK boots, nicks, whites, I would say the drew boots are built like tanks and remember Mexico is a close trading partner to America. And tbh is my army combat boots were built like Drew’s boots they would have lasted me a whole lot longer

I’m so excited that you’re looking at these. They’re dominating my Facebook feed lately alongside Craft & Glory ads. Thankfully Portland Leather and others similar to it have died down for me after you and Stridewise’s reviews came out.
I’ve been intrigued by the Drew’s logger and Frank’s Patriot at that price point. Having a more approachable boot for us office working wannabes with the logger heal without a $600-800 price tag is exciting.
