Bordon boots are outstanding. I've appreciated them for a while - even more since they started doing custom L/R sizing for me. They're now doing different heel styles as well as the option for structured or unstructured toes. The Wanes pattern is probably my favorite of the three they offer. Their last works great for my feet and I like the greater-than-most arch support. Do cut a pair in half. That'd be informative. Oh, and pronounced "Bore-don'" accent on the second syllable and "Wah'-nes" - as I recall, the name of an indigenous group in Colombia.

They’ve constantly shown improvement based on customer feedback and given more compelling reason to consider buying from them again between the heal options, variety of leathers, and continuously improving construction quality.
It was also a cool touch getting emails with photos each time my boots were in a different stage of being built in their MTO batch. Even if the pics were stock instead of my specific boots, I really appreciate their focus on the long distance customer experience.

Same thing I said also applies to Viberg, a company that needs no increase in brand awareness and caters to a particularly small and well-heeled subsection of this market. I think there are things going on behind the scenes with this channel and its owner that we simply aren't privy to. One of the reasons I've largely stopped watching, save for videos like this one that involve small, niche bootmakers that I care about.
It's likely this channel is now far more lucrative than the Rose Anvil store itself. We may be at a point where next to no one gets exposure on either the man or secondary channel without giving up something in return. Which makes that little running total of stuff he's destroyed not quite as representative as he'd like us all to think.
I invited Westin early on to clearly disclose what was sponsored content and what was not, and obviously he has flatly refused. One thing's for sure, Brett Viberg and Vince Truman are about the last two people in the footwear world who would fork out free money or product and leave the findings to the folks here...

Indeed, influencers are terrible about making this point since they're getting whatever they've requested in 3 - 5 months. This natural harness was introduced in the March and April ordering window. So even if Weston ordered, I mean requested these boots on the first day of that window, which is highly unlikely, his personal wait time is about half that of a regular customer. From what I've heard influencers are getting their product in about 4 months, not realizing there are customers in year 2 of their wait to get their boots in hand...

On that debate, I'd like to see an actual proper study of leather vs pleather vs non-plastic vegan leatherettes. Leather gets dunked because on because of killing cows and CO2, they forget that pleather is an oil product dependent on the entire fossil fuel chain, breaks down into microplastics, has a much shorter lifespan and less durability, etc, and I'm tired of pleather being everywhere. Even on headphone pads. Same with actual rubber soles over foam or TPR or EVA. Anyway I'm done ranting. The tan colour ain't quite for me but those boots do look damnnice

    • @F0XD1E
      @F0XD1E Месяц назад +3

Pleather definitely has lots of cons as you mentioned. I think a solution to that would be simply not using pleather as much. Canvas/wool can replace pleather in most applications and wouldn't be using plastics. People just have to get over their fashion peer pressure.
I have never looked into it very deeply, but I have no issue with cowhide being used if they were going to be using cattle for meat anyway. Raising cattle just to get some premium fashion leather out of them, if that does happen, is somewhat unnecessary.
Going forward, if we do reduce cattle farming for environmental reasons decades into the future, other animals with lower methane emissions have viable hides as well. They might be smaller or not as thick, but most leather is split down anyway. Chrome tanning also needs to be more tightly controlled worldwide to prevent water contamination.

I still want to see inside Bordons…maybe someday! I’m eyeing Wanes, but I wanted the Rame suede model rather than Natural

You may have to write to ask if that suede is coming back. I got a Rames order in for the april batch, but the current batch they have open has trench and rames listed as no longer available.

I will stick with my Thursday Captain boots, I got them following a review from you, had them 2 years now, I wear them practically everyday, and they are so comfortable and wearing very well. I want to get a second set of there Moto bots.

I'm on the fence about whether or not to pick up a pair of Captains for myself. I sort of like the look, and they can serve as a dress boot, but I'm just not sure. What do you think of them? How have they served you? Are they worth the money? How do they break in?

What are the pants you're wearing with the White's collab at 9:30? Great wear on those

Check out Butts and Shoulders, Natural Boot - similar boot. They also show a picture how it will look like after quite a while.

Those Borden’s are sweet. Would dig a long term review and looking forward to the Truman’s as well! When will we see the likes of Meermin and/or John Lofgren on here. A series of best quality budget shoes/boots and high end boots maybe??

Can you tell us approximately how much bigger the heel is on a EE shoe, as compared to the average D shoe? My worry is that a wider toe box will result in heel slip that cannot be fixed. Thanks

Man if that Bloodcore Drifter boot is on a 55 last or other high arch last, I might have to get a pair. Sick looking boots. Also same thing with Bordon: if they make any high arch lasts I will be a customer of theirs soon. Its frustrating how rare high arch boots are. I have a pair of Franks that fixed my foot pain issues.

Yeah, me too. I sort of lost interest in the main channel because it started putting out so many videos about sneakers, big brands, shenanigans. I care about heritage leather goods and traditional construction, that's why I got into RA.
