Interesting boots, I did notice the lack of an arch compared to a logger boot, but I figured…hey, these aren’t really “logger” boots per say. They’re a lot of boot for the price, but almost more a dress logger like the urban logger from nicks or the contractor from Drew’s. So I’m fine with that. But if I’m looking for a logger in that proce range, I go Drew’s. And I have. But nice boots for sure! I’d probably personally stick to Thursday Captain boots for more a dress boot look, but I like that Thursday has added a different segment.
My man.. thanks for addressing my comment! I had a feeling you’d get a little forward slide, but it WAS minimal 🤔 Good thing the sizing worked out well, they def look cool 🤜🤛
Yeah, the heel flattened out a tiny bit as I broke them in. However, the feet are still at a slope. I decided to put these on the shelf, and just wear them as a casual boot. Since they still look amazing! I’ll be reviewing Drew’s loggers next, then whites and nicks!
I don't like Thursday boots at all. I purchased three pairs and had to return them all due to sizing inconsistencies. I was expecting better with this challenger boot but, that last looks uncomfortable and that heel looks comical. Thank you for your review brother.
I like the idea of what Thursday is trying to accomplish. But I was also expecting better with this boot. I will keep mine, and just run it to a cobbler at some point to reprofile the heel.
Seems to me they didn’t put enough arch in to compensate for the heel to toe drop, it looks like a logger but it’s not. People forget that the high heel in logger boots is for ascending steep inclines , just like a dogger heel was originally designed to lock into a stirrup , Thursday is fashion over function . The Iron Ranger has no midsole which makes the break in very uncomfortable.
Mine did too. I had to buy other ones. It's a tight double EE width. I also agree with the back heel. I slope forward as well. The back heel should of been shorter. And, good luck with customer service. Thursday is becoming just another boot company that has gotten bigger. I might get new heels in the boot. Don't want to have another pair of expensive boots I can't use.
Hey, I had commented on your last video. I got mine and they are tight at the toe box, widthwise. Do you think they will loosen up? And I still feel like they aren’t broken in they are stiff at the heel, and I feel the sliding forward effect you mentioned. I was looking into an exchange but the international charge isn’t worth it, and it’ll take about 45 days total.
Mine loosened up a tiny bit. From what I noticed, boots only loosen up about 1-2mm. But they were already pretty good width wise for me. Yeah, they’re pretty stiff leather. I’d recommend cleaning, conditioning, and letting them sit for 48 hours, and then come back to them. That’s what I did at about 5-6 days of wear. And it changed the boot for me! The sliding still happened a tiny bit, but I was able to mitigate that by tying them a little tighter. EDIT: Also, when you do clean and condition, if you decide to do so. Clean and Condition the insole too, helped me a lot in my iron ranger break-in.
I got two pairs and don't seem to have any "breathe holes", so maybe ye blew stitch or they were a rush job got overlooked? Can likely get gusset fixed by shoe guy? I can't imagine the Rugged Resilient versions require any condition. I don't see much advantage to the tall heel if no extra arch support, but these heels are even higher than the Nick's stacks for some reason. I have other boots I would like to ADD the arch, but the PNW will likely only work on THEIR boots and thing seems t' be the common line and the regular shoe guys neigh equipped for stitch-down or extra work or whate'er, so these seemed like an OK compromise option since didn't hafta wait 4 months or whatever. I don't care for the fit as much, like ye said, is hafta cinch them a lot t' compensate for bulbous toe-box, but poron insoles helped cushion the leather toe part whilst I'm still breaking in [however long THAT might take since I only wear them for about an hour or two because they're just still so heavy and clunky compared t' some others what I don't find so tedious t' wear overall].
I don't know why they didn't rename the old logger the Challenger or something and then title these or the new Thunder ones the Logger instead. The old Logger is really just a taller shaft of the Hero.
Did not like that Rose Anvil Drifter last at all. Might have that pair rebuilt actually so my toes have somewhere to go other than being smashed on the side. They have a really wide outsole still somehow. If ye ordered the Nick's Quick Ship might come pretty soon; otherwise about 4 months. White's should really start cutting the uppers and things BEFORE the launch so they can get them out more quickly when they know they will be slammed, but I won't promise before Thanksgiving because I don't know how their other production schedule looks or whatever. I got mine just before X-mas I think?
Wow, I would call that a fake bellows tongue, and yeah, that last isn't right. I think it's a shame that a company like Thursday wastes good material making bad boots. If everyone was like me, Thursday would be out of business. Thanks for the review. Looking forward to your drifter videos
Yeah, I was a bit disheartened when I found the tongue out. Also, the last disappointments me. But it’s still a good boot, once broken in. Same with their regular logger boot. Except, on those the heel stack isn’t as tall, so the sliding effect is non-existent. I’d buy the boot again just because of the price point, and comfort. The comfort and looks far outweighed the negatives for me. I like them more than my iron rangers. However, I will be doing a logger style resole for my Iron Rangers once I wear this sole out. I can’t wait for the drifters! I believe I got within the first 250. If so, then that unboxing will happen (potentially) this month.

I think it’s a combination of their last, and lack of arch support compared to a logger.

@ Well done, I’ve got a pair of Nicks too. I’ll stay tuned 😎
@ Sounds good! Thank you for the support brother!

Yeah, I believe they used a weird last. But also forgot to put in an arch-support to make the heel a little more flat.
Goth girl boots
😂😂😂
thursday is always making weird ass lasts. i don't understand why they don't just make more traditional lasts.
Yeah, the 1776 last on their “logger” boot is better. But not by much.. They’re also missing arch support in the mid-section.

Yeah, I’ll probably do the same! I want to have a cobbler reprofile the heel. However, Thursday has been good for customer service on me.

I am also waiting on some drifter 3's lol.
Noice! I so can’t wait for them!
@TheRealLOLExpress me either! The lead time they gave me was 4-6 weeks, so we'll see.
@ Noice! They didn’t even give me a lead time 😭😭

Yes, the leather also much thinner than the true work leathers. This may not matter depending on the type o' work...
I don't know why they didn't rename the old logger the Challenger or something and then title these or the new Thunder ones the Logger instead. The old Logger is really just a taller shaft of the Hero.
Ye could just put regular boot laces in them. These are only 6", so most sneaker laces would work just as well in the meantime.
I don't know if yer Nick or White will be 10" tall, but then MIGHT have use for them extra longs...........
