Definitely a bucket list fish for me, great video man 📹👍
This are some of your most lovely fish. They look stunning in your aquarium behind you! It's one of the species I have been wanting to learn about so this is a great video for me. Very informative, beautifully made,I enjoyed it very much. Thank You Blake!!👍🙏🌱🌿🐟

Thanx uploding ,great video i buy today Bosemani Rainbowfish thanx from Hungary
Beautiful tank bro 👌🏼
I'm hoping to eventually get a 6ft to house some of these bad boys 😎
Thanks for the information. I have one pair in a very busy community tank, and I have discovered four babies, which I believe to be if the rainbow fish. I am delighted however am new to raising fry, so far they are about one week old now and are more actively swimming already.
It's a rescued/ inherited tank from a neighbor who moved. I've had for about a year. Ive always kept fish but never these kind before. Planted 30 gallon. That jungle grass constantly growing and I trim it at water changes. Found the babies in the water bucket with the grass trimmings. unknown left the bucket outside for four days before I saw the fry. Aquarium temp about 28C. Obviously they are safe and warm now in a floating cage.
That probably helped them to get some small insects and other critters as a first fokd
They enjoy cooked veggies very much. Corn,Broccoli, boiled spinach...fought over by who's the fastest. The young ones are very active and as they get older, they tend to find a favorite spot with a good current and sort of fish treadmill in place to exercise between the rush to eat basic foods like color flakes or cooked shrimp. Even dehydrated krill..in warm water plumps up,wash it in strainer and that is an inexpensive high protein food ( found at asian markets for a fraction of pet store krill) for your Boesemani.
Might get me some of them.
Gosh I am so jealous of that tank!
Cheers mate 👍
Around what age do they start to breed? I have 9 of them, 5 females, 4 males, that are still juveniles, but I've been thinking about actually actively breeding them.
quite young actually, 6 months onwards
King of Rainbows. I've by happenstance bought at least three different color variations of them..I think the last two young ones are Atinjo-ish. They are showing a deep blue on the breastplate none of the others had done. Besides having orange- red latter halfs. You can't really top them at their best. They look marine fish like in full color.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing
Beautiful fish, what's the recommended aquarium size for a set of 6?
75 gallon or 4x18x18 in my opinion
Beautiful fish. Can u help me with the name of the pellets n flakes that u feed them
Hey Dominic, I feed mostly xtreme peewee and community crave these days 👍
Hey Blake,
In your opinion are turquoise and boesemani rainbow fish incompatible for pairing together? As I understand turquoise like mid 70s and boesemani like low 80s. Is their a middle ground that they will both tolerate? Thanks for the great content!
Hey Dan, yeah it can definitely be done. Just get in between, 78f or so
@@BlakesAquatics Thanks, Blake! Keep up the amazing work!
Are there yellow and orange tailed bosemane rainbows? Does their color increase with age? I know diet and stress levels affect their colors.
There are different tones dependibg on where they are collected originally. There are maps available but yes some are orange and deep blue others are yellow and light blue. Yes colour brightens with age then fades with old age
How often do you get those Boeses that are very blue front half and red the second half? I've never seen them for sale here in the S.F. bay area. Do you know if it's true that they are not as large as the species? Are they just sports of the common M.boesemani?
They common are the dominant fish in numbers in my 240 gallon (920 liters) and I never get tired of watching them. Can't say enough good things about them.
the colour difference is based on collection point. I wouldnt see why they wouldnt grow to the same size. Not sure of when they come available for sale as I am in Australia where things are different.
@@BlakesAquatics Do you see those for sale in Australia on occasion?..or just as hard to find as here? It's still very hard to find Millennials also. So far,I haven't!
Rainbows are great fish..personalities like Cichlids,only they don't dig up a thing..ha.
@@StanTheObserver-lo8rx i would say that rainbows arent exactly mainstream here but definitely more accessible pureky based on proximity to PNG and Aus localities. Most stuff can be sought
Have you got yours to spawn? Awesome video
Yep sure have. Was right in to it a while back
What's that discuss looking fish at @4:52?
Thats a discus
I’ve put the spawning mop in, leave it for 5 days and when I take it out I can only find around 5 eggs, I’ve done it a few times always with the same result. Do you know why this would be happening?
Hey mate something would be eating the eggs, best bet is to collect the spawning mop maybe 1 hr after lights on
Blake's Aquatics I had them in a tank with just the bosemanis, would they be eating it ? And should I take the mop out after one day ?
@@triggertrash6742 yeah protein is protein lol. Can always just pull it, check through and if theres eggs swap in a new one or if not put it back
Blake's Aquatics ok yeah I’ll do that thanks
What substrate are you using in that tank?
Ada amazonia light 👍 thanks for watching
how long does it take for a Melanotaenia boesemani to mature from a baby fish?
A long time. 8 months or more
Where did you manage to get these beauties
Good question, have had these guys for years and years. Probably just bought them young from a local store like fastway aquarium
First
A wonderful video. spectacular, a real pleasure to see you. My name is Alex, I have a Spanish-speaking aquarium channel and I would love to be able to put a piece of your video in a new project that I am going to do talking about reproductions, Of course your name would always be reflected in the video and also I would leave the link to your channel in the video description. I look forward to your response and it would be a real pleasure if you would give me your confirmation, anyway thank you very much for sharing this wonderful video
Sure! No problem at all thanks for watching 😄
I would only get a breeding fish because they are kinda pricey and if i could breed some i could save money
Only thing is itll take a really long time to grow the fry out
Blake's Aquatics patients i shall use
