These bright red boesemanis are a natural fish. In Papua where these guys come from, there are several lakes and rivers that they live in. The first strain that entered the hobby was the ayamaru lake boesemanis and that’s what you see usually. But different locales have different colors. For example the lake aytinjo boesemanis have this dramatic orange back end with an almost black/navy blue front. It’s really cool how these fish changed regionally!
@@ScoobzNPetz yep! These are all natural colors. A similar rainbowfish that has these regional differences is melanotaenia trifasciata. You have the goyder, Blyth, and Cato River variants which all differ in color by a slight amount.
They are so pretty! ive seen boesmani rainbowfish with almost no orange, but those super reds are SO colorful! i love the way they contrast with the colors in your tank!
Nice, I just got my first anglefish and dwarf gourami today, going back for some Cory's and hopefully congo tetra soon but them rainbow fish look awesome
Oh wow really? What other colourations are there? Would love to look into them. So far I’ve only seen the red boesemani and the normal ones. I did come across some beautiful blue/purple ones one time but they were a different type of rainbow fish. And thank you!
Also if u do the pollyderium then u should put ur rope fish in there, its because they have the ability to breath in air and often like to stick there head out of the water, they might also eat insects and stuff but I'm not entirely sure
@@nimaarezoomandi5325 thank you! And I feed a variety of food. The dry food is tetra multi colour crisp and prima granules but I also feed frozen shrimp, blood worms and earth worms. Those are mainly for my other fish but the rainbows always get some too
Also pauledariums are so cool and crabs are defiantly an amazing addition, but if you wanted to do newts i would suggest the japanese fire belly salamander, you cant really add fish with them though and they are poisonous, besides that they are great pets and are really pretty so i would suggest to do more research about them 👍
Thank you for the suggestion! Ideally I want to see if I can create a community paludarium with a few different species but if I decide to just have one animal I’ll definitely look into the fire belly salamander, the name alone already sounds so cool 😂
The tank size is fine for one but rainbow fish prefer being in groups so it might get lonely if you only add one in there. Is there anything else in the aquarium?
@@tejaschaudhari4520 do you know how many litres your tank holds? And it depends on if you want to listen to the information online or experiment. Online they say you should keep at least 6 together but you should also be fine with a group of 3-4. In regards of tank size, assuming your 3ft tank holds around 100L, you’ll be fine keeping 3-4 in there although it might get a bit tight for them when they reach full maturity. If you want to try out 2 you can, but if you see aggressive behaviour then make sure you introduce more to even it out
Have you heard of "The Dave"? He has videos of freshwater fish and invertabrates just like you. He also has videos of fish and turtles in lakes and rivers. I highly recomend it. I watch his videos all the time.

Oh wow, so these colours were not achieved through breeding?? That’s crazy

Thanks! And yeah they’re amazing, I hope I can grab a few more next month but they’ll probably be gone by then 🥲

Nice! Good luck on your journey 😁 and you could add some rainbows too if you have the space, they’re definitely worth it
@ScoobzNPetz yeah I definitely will do, it's 320 litres so should be fine to have plenty of fish in there
@@Ajlowton101 320?? That’s nice I’m jealous 😂
@ScoobzNPetz yeah well I'm equally as jealous of your fish mate 🤣, desperately want a rope fish but need to let these baby's grow first
@@Ajlowton101 😂😂 don’t worry you’ll have your Ropefish before you know it
There are several locations of boesemani available. The red variant are just nicely selectedly bred for better orange color. Nice fish

A very illuminating performance!!!!
Ok....... no Ropefish for me! I really like my clams. Those and the snails are so fun to sit back and watch.
@@anthonyhendricks7377 yeah if you like your clams and snails stay away from a Ropefish 😂😅

Stunning

How big does the bosemani rainbows get?
They are quite addicting, cant have just one or twenty.
