@@Oh_Charlie I’d say don’t worry too much at the start, mine took about a week and a half to finally start eating. Try bloodworms, that’s the first thing that mine started eating. You can also try soak the shrimp in garlic

@ I bought the filter today and installed it this afternoon, I put it on the spray bar setting and faced it towards the wall of the tank, seems to be working perfectly 👍🏻

Hey man, thank you! and its been a while since I set up the 200. I can tell you for the 240 I used 4 8kg bags of black sand and there was enough for me to create a hill. So I'd say you'd probably be fine with 3 8kg bags but you'll probably have some left over.

I'm assuming mine is so active due to the tank mates, having said that mine sometimes has days where he hides away too

I buy the shrimp fresh from the fish market and then freeze them when I get home. She also eats the normal frozen shrimp from the supermarket but personally I prefer to feed her the fresh ones

It annoyed me at the start too but you kind of get used to it pretty quickly. I can imagine it being a bit more frustrating on the 123 considering its size. In general I prefer the classic straight glass, its easier to clean and as you mentioned it doesn't warp the view but the curved glass does give the aquarium a unique look

My current plan is to take him back to the fish store I got him from. I'm dreading the day, I've become quite attached to my stormii catfish lol. If you decide to get one, just be aware that they grow quite fast. Mine nearly tripled in size in a year

I'm honestly not sure, Ropefish could potentially see them as a snack, especially when your ropefish starts to mature. If you do try it out, I'd say keep a close eye on them and have a backup plan ready

@ I’d say it depends on how stocked the aquarium is. You’d definitely be fine for the first year or 2. Once it gets bigger you find a few problems like territorial behaviour etc. What else are you looking to keep with it?

@ i was thinking along the lines of some guppies (the ropefish could eat the fry if he wants idc) tetra (not bucktooth) and maybe an angelfish or bosemani rainbow fish?? i love some feedback if you wouldn’t mind, im looking for suggestions.

@@madi.a2010 You should be fine with in that case if you’re only looking to keep one. The territorial behaviour becomes a problem if you keep a similar fish to the rope fish. Just make sure you don’t overstock the tank and you should be fine

@ you should try some yabbys they aren’t extremely aggressive but they still sometimes will catch fish

I don’t unfortunately, sorry man. Usually before I do an experiment I usually go to the store and watch the fish for a while to get an idea of what their general behaviour is like. I also ask the store to feed them so I can get an idea of how fast they eat and think about the fish I already have in the aquarium. If I can’t see the fish in the store I watch as many videos as I can to get an idea. That’s my general routine before doing an experiment. Hope that helped

Cheers mate - How is your Bichir? This is another fish i'd like to keep although I think a Bichir may cause havoc to my ruby barbs/yoyo loachs also been told can't keep them with plecos. Thoughts?

@@dw929 My bichir is doing great but hes growing very quickly. He's doubled in size lol. In regards of keeping them with plecos, I've got one with my bichir but as you know, my tank is heavily planted, so they hradly ever see eachother. I'd say when they're young they seem to get along with most fish but I've been told they get more aggressive as they grow. I'll post an update if anything significant changes with my bichir!

It's actually the adults that do the best in freshwater

I read this article about these researchers in Indonesia that found adult tiger morays in freshwater thriving. I based my decision on keeping her in freshwater on that alongside other people’s experiences when I looked online

It’s quite hard to measure her as she never comes out of her cave fully and when she does she swims around fast. If I had to guess I’d say she’s at least 30cm, maybe even close to 40cm

I haven’t kept the two together so I can’t be sure but I think they’d be okay if they’re similar size. I kept mine with a rope fish for a while and they’re a bit similar to bichirs. But keep in mind every animal is different. Consider your bichirs personality and how he/she interacts with other fish. Hope that helped!
