I'd bet that the crab grabbed him when he was sleeping. The needlefish as well. The crab hunts at night and one that size would be able to eat most of it with the rest eaten by everything else. They're so skinny he could slice them in two fast.
@ScoobzNPetz it happens. Sometimes learning happens the hard way. I've lost a few fish to the little buggers myself. They act all kind and innocent. Then bam. The eat a fish 🐟.
Scoobz sorry to hear about your Pipefish such a shame 😞 plus beautiful to watch and in the wild they're mainly found in subtropical salt water and reef water. I mentioned baby brine to you as (swanleyjon) mentioned as they like that.
@@ScoobzNPetz I did some reading up on them & the large percentage is salt & that is definitely one which would have been added to my tank seeing how calm & graceful they are. I told my hubby you'd lost it as he's seen your tanks loving fish & even he said today it's a shame he can't adjust a tank to brackish for better survival.
@@ScoobzNPetz Well it's a nice size to do it & you don't add loads of salt to make it brackish, then once stabilized & salt content tested, which the aquarium shop by you would be able to do. Then try another Pipefish plus a couple of Gobies again & there's brackish fish you can buy but you know me mine had no choice 😜😂
This fish is better when it has its own take with multiple buddies they like still water so a sponge filter is perfect. You can keep small nano fish with them like celestrial pearl danios and shrimp work too

Try keeping them in a ‘Species only’ tank .Copepods good idea, then try baby brine and eventually adult brine shrimp.
I wished i'd still got my tank running, this i would loved to have tried as i kept my fish in brackish water.
Would bloodworms work? I feed my half banded spiny eel with a turkey baster because he’s so shy
@@jeremyblackwater439 Apparently bloodworms are fine but the smallest ones, the same for brine & they do eat daphnia.
