As a Tesla owner/investor, I never considered my P90DL to be "a $130K car", even though that's what some new ones cost. I considered it to be a typical $30K car with a $100K powertrain/electronics upgrade. The latter concerns me more than the former, since the former will get covered with bugs and dirt the first time I drive it down the road. So I tend to focus more on the joys and less on the flaws. It's easier to be happy that way.

Overall we love our new Model S (non Plaid), but in our experience anyone who somehow says the build quality has improved is in total denial. Our car was much worse than this. We found 5 places where there was no paint at all! Tesla needs to hire some laid off engineers from GM and Ford who can show Tesla how to run a body shop. Tesla now has enough $ to hire them instead of continuing to use amateurs. And we found lots of fit and finish issues in the interior too, and then there was the water leak around the windshield that they thankfully fixed correctly on the 3rd try.
Very troubled by the excuses presented here by the Tesla Fanboys and stockholders. We should all be pressing Elon to resolve this and make the company even better, not trying to sweep these issues under the rug.
But what's most troubling is the Tesla employees at the dealers trying to fix these things. They seem to be trained as well as the factory workers in Fremont.

@@BrianBokor78 With all due respect I don't think it helps to try to justify Tesla's shortcomings by pointing out issues folks are having with non-Tesla cars. There's no brand that's perfect and you can always find someone who has had major problems with any brand, even if it's Lexus or Porsche. And with today's technology there's just no excuse for the widespread assembly quality issues we Tesla owners are seeing. The last time we saw assembly quality issues this bad was Chrysler back in the 70's and 80's. Even Yugo did not have assembly quality issues like this; Yugo's larger issue was the poor quality of the parts. We need to pressure Elon to fix the problem. It can be done. There's nothing unique about Tesla that prevents it. We are not talking about largely handbuilt cars like McLaren. Very unusual to hear about a Tesla owner having issues with a motor or other powertrain component. With the production tech available today there's no reason the assembly quality can't also be world class. As such, they need to be called out for problems so that they can fix them. There is just no reason for a $130k+ car to be delivered with sub-standard fit and finish. Tesla has a serious initial quality and customer service problem. Elon needs to fix both. Fast. They may be the only game in town at this price/performance level right now, but the other players aren't going to leave that market to Tesla. And when they come, Tesla's quality and customer service had better be up to scratch by then.
