I went from being used to a 1998 suv to a tesla so the quality felt like a phenomenal difference. But now I've realized the old jeep interior held up impressively well over 21 years while my model 3 has noticable wear in 2. Not to mention more things have broken inside the Tesla this year than driving a Jeep older than myself for many years...

I think a jeep is meant to be durable, reason why they hold their value and are meant to be in the jungle or mountains or woods running through mud puddles. Tesla is electric car with durability of interior as a secondary while they pump them out as fast as they can to meet demand.

But Ive heard also opposite story's. Were peoples jeeps have creaking seats and engine problems And tesla's having perfect fit and finish with no issue on the motors or drive train. It all comes down to the cars being built by humans at one point of the assembly line. No company is perfect.

I expect a lot more out of a $150,000 car. A LOT more. I don't care how fast it is, for that price there shouldn't be cheap-ass shag carpeting in the interior, there should be a retractable window shade for the top glass like Audi offers, same for manual mesh shades for the rear side windows and maybe a powered one for the rear glass, it should have an adjustable height b-pillar seat belt point, it should have 3D birds-eye 360 camera view of the car (pretty much all luxury cars have this now standard and makes parking in tight spots amazingly easy, yet Tesla is dorking around with individual camera views like it's 2008 not 2022), it should have a powered open/close frunk like Rivian or Lucid, and a proper steering wheel with actual buttons, not the idiotic yoke with capacitive buttons which are infuriating to use, especially the turn signals and the tiny ass capacitive horn. Tesla should bring back the turn stalk, or at the very least put the left turn button on the left, and the right turn button on the right. Best would be to add the shift stalk back also. I don't need the car guessing which way I want to go and then me verifying it every time. In less amount of time I can just flick the stalk in the direction I want to go. It's super easy and doesn't need automation. A nice ambient LED strip lighting system like Audi, BMW or Merc would also go a long way to class up the interior. As it is right now, that interior looks and feels super cheap for such an expensive car. The acceleration doesn't remotely make up for it's low-rent look and feel and overall poor build quality.

The problem for people who are happy to buy a Tesla but not fanatical fanbois is that they are going to have to put up with so and so initial quality levels for a while to come. Simply, Tesla is focusing on getting the delivery numbers to the max to justify its stratospheric share price - it's focusing on pleasing financial analysts as much as customers. And that means moving more cars at 80% right rather than fewer cars at 99% right. And the reality is now that with all these supply chain delays in the automotive sector (and pretty much every other one), people take what they can get when they get it, because it could be many months before you have another opportunity.

and now lucid is coming up with a better luxury car than the model s, and with better range. model s will be better if all you care about is speed, but it isn't even sporty enough to give such a sacrifice. Roadster won't be a thing for another 5 years.
Maybe an aftermarket steering wheel can fix the model s, but it will probably have visibility issues with the dash since tesla did not design the car to be used with a circular wheel
