    Just to add a couple of things, remember that sometimes you need to record the sound separately with a good mic with a wind filter, (if you are talking while shooting) and also remember most cameras allow you to use a power bank while you record longer rides. Thanks!

    Good points lads. Post production is important in making what might seem boring to others, something interesting to watch, plus exposure/color can be adjusted. Technically, I have used all mounts and the K-edge on the handlebar/seatpost is the most stable. 32GB class 10 cards for a 5 hour century ride. Double battery pack on GoPros, carry extras. Rub/polish water repellent like Rainguard to avoid that drop of water that sticks to the case or the occasional insect.

    I just bought an Akaso Brave 6 Plus action camera! I almost bought the "V 50 Pro SE (Special Edition -"Leave No Trace") because it has 60fps at 4k while mine only has 30FPS at 4k, and the other 1 is only $15 more. Despite that I am keeping the Brave 6 plus, it has WAY better sound from built in mic AND it has significantly better EIS (electronic image stabilization). So I am really happy with my Akaso brave 6 plus, I got it on Amazon and they had an automatic $10 off coupon. This camera is either equal or 95% as good as a gopro but it was $110 instead of $300 for a go pro! Before this I never knew there were good affordable action cameras, very happy to GOOD action camera I can afford on a teachers salary!

    Great video as always. I film most of my rides when riding with friends or when leading the ride from my local shop I will only use aluminum mounts as they are really the most stable - plastic is junk. I use three - sometimes 4 GoPros at once. 2 on my bike - one front and one facing the rear always at a minimum, one or more on a friends handle bars facing forward, and sometimes on as a chest mount but I find that to be a little limiting as it only looks cool once in a while. I have also mounted one under my non-drive side chain stay and that was a cool angle too! Always film the faces to see people smile........the editing is just as important!

    My tip: If you're using a camera housing mount (like a GoPro etc) a drop or two of Rain-X to the external lens cover will help minimise dreaded rain droplets hugging to the front of mount and spoiling the video - never apply anything directly to the lens itself as it will damage the lens coating.

  • @drummerbod
    @drummerbod 9 лет назад

    Great video - just to add though. 60fps doesn't make files sizes bigger than 30fps (using a GoPro at least) as the compression method used works using a series of frames so addiditional frames are calculated from previous and next (but you probably knew that). I prefer to use 60fps just for the reason that you get a stacato effect instead of a movemnet blur using 30fps. Makes things like rain, mud spray and dirt\dust look dramatic. I then encode down to 30fps as there aren't many devices that can cope with 1080\60.

    Loving the channel. Some really informative stuff with humour and banter. Keeps me hooked for hours. The girlfriend hates you right now! As a new rider could you do a video into the real world differences between a cheaper road bike such as a Ribble R872 around the 800 pound mark and something like a Cervelo r3 or s3 at a few thousand pounds. Also what bike should beginners go for. Should they spend the larger amounts early on to prevent premature upgrading or get a cheaper bike in case it's actually not for them.

    Hi GCN please can you review cameras for personal safety....I have had two cases of motorist overtaking with insufficient clearance and also holding the horn continuously whilst passing i.e. trying to cause me to crash or fall off. I am NOT interested in uploading the pictures for any reason however I (and possibly many others) do want to feel safer from threats from abusive drivers. If the minority of dangerous drivers, like Dean Goble, are dealt with due to evidence (film footage) being available then perhaps the roads will become safer.

      There are no cameras on the market for cyclists. This must change. Most people just a cheap Action Camera mounted to a helmet to record traffic for legal purposes.

    Some cameras will interfere with Garmin's GPS when placed too close to each other. My favourite mount is the bar mount, I was surprised of how it picked up very little vibration being mounted solid on the bars. I use a K-edge mount.

  • @FinlayDaG33k
    @FinlayDaG33k 3 года назад

    I 3D printed a little extension for a gimbal that I attached to my bars.
    Basically leaves the entire cockpit out of the frame and only shows you the road with some nice stabilization.
    Not very aero or lightweight tho.

    The helmet cam is as essential these days as your brakes, as lucky (or not) I found out when I was hit by a day dreaming driver whilst out for a ride this March, the bike was written off, and I lost some skin, 6 months later and I have only just received the compensation, something I certainly wouldn't have got without the footage.

    For low light we should use 30fps? It's interesting but I don't understand exactly. In fact, I use 60fps i thought this is better than 30fps in all matters.
