    Good advice. I just started filming rides(commute to work and home) to share and just in case of idiots driving. I mount the GoPro pointing one way for a ride then change the direction. When I edit I combine my rides with the different directions. It works great on the 3 am rides to work but it is very obvious of the mixed rides on the afternoon rides. I’m considering doing the same thing through out the seasons and making a video combing them. We’ll see how that works. Cheers

    The name of your RUclips Channel popped up today on the screen of my smartphone. One video even more interesting than the other. I think we have much in common (age, weight) But I ride on an old mountain bike (90% on roads, 10% "off-road")
    and I ride on the right side of the street.
    Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experiences. You have a new subscriber.

    Another very interesting video. I don't think I have the patience, or skill, to make my own videos, so I'm happy to leave that to professionals like you. However, what I'd really like is a small camera that I can use to record incidents - like those Dash cams you can get for cars. I've had a few near misses with cars and it would be useful to have. I don't suppose anybody can make any suggestions? The battery life on a GoPro doesn't seem long enough, and I wouldn't need all the features - 720p would be more than enough. Thanks.

      Hi Jim, as I say, filming your rides can be a bit time consuming. I’ve heard that the Garmin VIRB has excellent battery life so that may be an option for a safety camera. It may also have a rolling record so you don’t end up shooting hours of footage.

    This was really helpful! Do you LEONARD or ANYONE else have camera recommendations for filming urban night bike rides? Some areas are low light while others are pretty dark, but I would like to have one video of my ride, not switching between cameras and settings.

    • @jollygoodvelo
      @jollygoodvelo  3 года назад +1

      You are going to struggle at night with any camera, even GoPros. The tip I would give is whatever camera you use, pay attention to your colour balance. It goes very orange at night.

      @@jollygoodvelo Thank you very much! I'm looking forward to experimenting with this and will keep an eye on the colour balance.

    like your self I looked around the market place and found the go-pro far too expensive with some unpositive reviews as well...plenty of alternative cheap copies abound but what one do you buy? went to amazon and found the (bopower) version with lots of good reviews...60pound was sent and it was mine a week later!..after many unsuccessful mounting failures I sent again to amazon for extra mounts and found that a chest harness was perfect for me when the kit arrived....don't have any problems with breathing etc plus the shots are great! I found having the camera on the handlebars etc caused a terrible motion problem for the camera which the harness smoothed out immediately....please keep up the good work and advice your giving out....

      +fourlapfever Yes, the GoPro is expensive. Most people don’t need something that high end. Some of the budget action camera do an excellent job at a fraction of the price.

    I have a gopro hero 3 or 4 with no built in stabilization and I do mountain biking. I don’t want to spend the money on a fancy rig for only making a few videos every mow and then. Do you have any tips on vibration and shakiness?

    • @jollygoodvelo
      @jollygoodvelo  4 года назад

      Hayden Kimwalker Maybe invest in a chest mount. That will absorb most of the vibrations

    • @jollygoodvelo
      @jollygoodvelo  5 лет назад

      I would only suggest one if you have your camera placed in an inaccessible place. I have mine on the handlebars and in my jersey pocket so switching it on and off is very easy.

    I think filming my rides would diminish their significance. I have no desire to use a GoPro or record my rides on Strava. I remember what I did in my little grey brain.

    I would not do slo motion shots of myself. Too much wobbling flesh. I have a GoPro hero 4 Black but never used it. Good to see what you do.

    • @jollygoodvelo
      @jollygoodvelo  6 лет назад +1

      Sadly slow mo is sometimes very unflattering. I use the really slow slow mo so at least the flesh doesn’t wobble quite so quick. Shame you haven’t used your GoPro. It’s a fantastic camera.
