    This is not the case of the public mocking an "athlete", but of the athlete mocking the whole of Australia as well as the Olympics. The ridicule is not only the appropriate reaction to this but a necessary one. How embarrassing for the whole country.

      I am pretty sure she actually was trying. To say that her best effort is disrespectful is crazy 😂
      She tried her best. This was the first time breakdancing was in the Olympics. I can imagine not many have entered. Especially since most breakdsncers are teenagers for obvious reasons and don't exactly have the money to travel, pay for hotels, Food etc....

There's international athletes well sponsored by brands like Red Bull or Nike which are capable of gymnast-level moves, they're not only teenagers and they make a good living out of it. They're just probably (rightfully) not interested in the Olympics. Also yes, this "best effort" is total garbage.

      As for the rider, not really. The riding in the pentathlon was removed because it is made the sport less accessible. Fencing still a problem🤔

However, when there is a new sport added to the Olympics or the Paralympics there is a national push from organizations to find athletes to compete. In 2014 The US was looking for athletes to compete in Paracanoe. I was already competing in another sport that required similar balance. I had to train five days a week 4 hours for a year and a half. I made the US team but didn't make the Final Cut to the Paralympics. the point is multiple national representatives let this person compete on a world stage, who clearly has never breakdanced in a competition before. She did know the rules .It's an insult to every person that came there to compete,including the other Australians.

      She girl she beat Molly was way better, actually had dynamic moves but was heavily penalised for repeating some of the moves from previous rounds and the Oceania championships aren’t really a true indicator of talent. The problem is it’s set up in a way that you need to accumulate points to qualify and most breakers simply can’t afford to travel around the comps.
      I’ve seen heaps of Raygun’s routines and she’s better than her Olympic routine showed, it was honestly god awful choreography but she also lacks a lot of the athleticism and agility that you see from the top competitors, she came from a ballroom dancing background so she’s simply just not much of an athlete

    This is like those auditions for Australian Idol that were bad, and you wondered how they got past SO many people and not ONE of them told them it was terrible.     I grew up in the 80s with Break Dancing and what she did wasn't even close to Break Dancing, it was more of an interpretive version of it combine with flopping around like a dying fish out of water. How she ever got to the Olympics with that routine is a mystery that no one seems to be able to solve.

      My moment was watching some of the triathletes finish the run leg and then spew their guts up as a result of swimming in the Seine. Then some ended up in hospital with E.Coli poisoning.
      That was an embarrassment on France that during the swim leg the athletes were actually pushing turds in the water and the French said it was clean enough to swim in.
      Yes, the Aussie break dancer was a joke, but I feel there are bigger fish to fry over things that went wrong at the Olympics.
