In this video I'm covering 10 of the dirty tricks I have seen workers compensation insurance companies repeatedly use against injured workers. After 17 years as a workers comp lawyer, I have seen some pretty shady behavior from insurance companies, so I made this video to help you avoid falling into the same traps!
These tricks can happen at different points in your workers comp case. Some happen earlier right after you file your claim, others happen much later when you're trying to negotiate your workers comp settlement. So if you want to ensure you get all the workers comp benefits that you deserve, make sure you're familiar with all of them and don't get caught off guard!

Can I get retroactive
benefits if I was paid below minimum wage ; now that I have the labor department involved .

That is a great question. If you are retroactively paid your correct salary, you might have a claim for additional benefits based upon your corrected average weekly wage. We have seen this apply in circumstances with people who are paid below minimum wage, people who were not properly paid tips, and people who are not properly paid for overtime work. Hopefully you have an attorney who is going to get you the pay that you were entitled to. Make sure you keep all the documentation so you can prove this before the Worker’s Compensation board. Do you have experience with travelers insurance and their shady tactics regarding workers comp? I’m in upstate NY, I was injured 10.22.23; they denied me two days after they spoke to me for the first time.. before they could receive the documentation they requested that they knew was coming asap. I have a hearing in 9 days. They’re trying every shady trick in the book.
