Man, Kristen. If you were bawling your eyes out over this movie, I don’t know how you’ll stomach the next two.
I still can't rewatch the end of the third one. I was ugly-sobbing for twenty minutes in the cinema the first time I saw it. No kidding. Couldn't stop.

Andy Serkis should’ve gotten a goddamn Oscar for this performance! I’ve never heard such silence from pure shock in a theater as when Ceaser said NO.
He's definitely getting a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The problem is that it takes a team to bring Caesars entire character to life, while Andy Serkis definitely performed remarkably well, animators still have to go in afterwards and make certain adjustments, so then if Andy Serkis wins an Oscar, what about the animators and everyone else who worked on creating Caesar and all the other apes... It's technically animation so this and other technicalities is why Andy didn't get an Oscar.

I remember this fight between Caesar and Malfoy the first time. The theaters went on cheering in the 2011 release. But when the moment Caesar said "NO!", the entire theater went dead silent. What an amazing moment!

This is a fantastic reboot of the Planet of the Apes series. It is so clever in that it does not actually remake the originals and does not try to do what Tim Burton tried to to do with it.
Tim Burton did a pretty good job with his version imo. But I do agree with you in that was done in a clever way.
It's more a prequel or an origin story than a reboot actually.
This recent trilogy (soon to be quadrilogy with the release of Kingdom) does not discard the 1968 film, it gives it a background and build on it instead. That's the genius of it (that and amazing filmaking/acting)

Caesar’s first ‘NO’ is the ultimate bootyhole clench moment. They hit you with the funny nostalgia line to lower your defenses and then-NOOOOOOOO!!!

One thing this movie reveals is the disrespect for nature. Putting an ape on a leash? People just don't learn. Edit: The day I saw the apes gathered together & plotting, would be the day I went to lunch never to return.

I saw this in theaters. When Caesar spoke, the whole room was deathly quiet, like our souls had been sucked out of our bodies, and for those few seconds of silence, we felt like the inferior species humans were destined to become. I broke the silence with a loud, "YES!" Lol
As someone who has watched all 9 Planet Of The Apes movies, I have noticed that the 3 Andy Serkis movies are essentially reboots of the 3rd, 4th, & 5th Roddy McDowall movies; Rise (2011) is Escape (1971), Dawn (2014) is Conquest (1972), & War (2017) is Battle (1973). The trailer for Kingdom makes me hopeful that we will get modern day reboots of the Original (1968) & Beneath (1970) as well.
12:12 This scene is not only powerful but also one of my favorite moments in the franchise.

Andy Serkis gives an amazing performance as Caesar through acting and motion capture performances! I highly recommend you two to do a reaction videos on Dawn and War next. I’m so fired up for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
I'm actually very anxious about Kingdom, I fear it's gonna be a soulless money grab with very ittle to add to the franchise and won't be nearly as good as any Caesar trilogy entry.

I agree but Michael's whole "narrating the scenes as they happen" thingy was a little annoying specially when he spoiled the plot of Dawn to Kristen but I hope she didn't paid attention to him when he said that.

That to me did a great job of showing how brilliant Caesar was. Figuring out tools is one thing, but chess is about rules in addition to logic. In order to do well at chess, he had to figure out the rules first. Or else it’s dumb luck when he wins.

They just don’t know how impactful that No is.. Just went back and watched the original planet of the apes and there are so many call backs to the original movie with this one scene that this could not be a reboot but in fact could be an alternate past that was created by the original movies leaving off with a cliffhanger.. though the one thing that didn’t change was that the first recorded speech of the Apes was one Ape saying No!!! If that’s the case that this is an alternate timeline then as for as storytelling this is right there with The lord of the rings as being the best one of the best fiction writing I have ever witnessed..

This is a great movie. But when director Matt Reeves took over the next two films, it made this franchise legendary. Rise is a really good movie as the beginning but dawn and war took it to the next level. The best franchise ever.
Fun fact that I didn't know until looking behind the scenes - the clerk who James Franco talks to about getting Caesar released back into his custody also does the motion capture for the orangutan Maurice! Probably my favourite character in the trilogy ~

I just finished Rise and Dawn by watching on Dailymotion. There were no subtitles on there for the sign language so I just thought it was a bold choice from the directors to let the audience try to figure it out from body language. Now I gotta watch them again to see what I missed.

NO, you DO NOT want a pet chimp, they are EXTREMELY dangerous animals, you would be better off getting a pet lion than a pet chimp, as dangerous as a lion is a chimp is far more dangerous and less predictable.

Andy Serkis is a master of motion capture - also did King Kong, Gollum of course, Captain Haddock in Tin Tin and Jungle Book.
A brilliant stage and screen actor and director in his own right. Really nice man and so polite. He owns a massive motion capture studio near where I live in London and it's amazing in there 🤓🇬🇧

This is an amazing trilogy, Caesar💚 is the best!!! ...love him to bits, hes a way better leader then most human leaders today. Hope u react to the other two.Caesar only bit the finger, it was still attached so that mean neighbour was lucky.
Notice after all hes been through, Caesar has no first instinct or intention to kill humans or hurt people, just to free his apes. He never even killed the nasty Draco, he killed himself out of stupidity. Also the apes didnt kill any innocents, they just trashed a few offices and scared people tbf. You can see how heartbroken Caesar was to reject his human dad after he turned his back, its clear how hard it was for him & he continued using his window as his symbol on street signs afte r escaping. I always root for the apes, animals are true to their nature, & we betray ours.
Also, Caesar can be infected again, so he also get even smarter when inhaling the 1.13 virus too, plus Caesar is way more intelligent since he had a proper human childhood education from Will.

Gotta say. Kristen is REALLY naive and optimistic on how she thinks of wild animals. If you educate yourself about real pet chimpanzee attacks or just real chimpanzee behavior in general. You'd realize that the ''show them love. And You'd get love back'' concept. Is VERY wrong
It's ironic how much they're missing the point in the movies theme in respecting nature instead of trying to control it. Those "cute" animals can rip a man apart with ease over just an accidental show of aggression towards them.
I absolutely empathize and side with Caesar in this as we are meant to but yea there’s a lot of human reactions that I 100% understand. Especially early on. The neighbor saw an animal he had no previous idea existed suddenly around his kids. Especially once realizing it’s a chimp? Yea can’t say I’d blame him for his reaction and realistically he probably woulda called the cops. Also I hate that Brighteyes had to die as she did instead of being tranqued but the normal security guards wouldn’t know to be armed with tranqs. The guards did their job but there absolutely should have been waaaaaaay more precautions to prevent it from even getting to that point.
Don’t get me wrong I definitely am with the apes but I just think a lot of people seem to act like every human action in this movie that’s not Will or his family is automatically wrong and cruel and evil.

@@-M0LEnope not at all. There's no shortage of stories about people who have exotic pets and get mauled or killed by them. Just because there are people stupid enough to make bad decisions. doesn't mean those decisions aren't stupid all of a sudden
There are so many instances of lions, tigers and other ferocious beasts that grow up with humans from birth, being kind towards them. It's true that they still have the wild instinct but it's natural and not things like spite and hatred that we humans have. So, we should be kind towards animals, eventhough we shouldn't disturb animals in the wild
