- Jess & Tess watch and react to the 2017 movie Life. This was our first time watching this awesome and scary thriller starring Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Rebecca Ferguson about a crew of astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) that receives an alien sample from Mars that is more than it seems.
Sorry for the slightly scuffed audio on this one, not sure what happened. We'll try to fix it for next time!

0:12 - Movie
36:53 - Outro
23:58 The black guy didn’t know that Calvin was wrapped around his leg because he’s paralyzed from the waist down. He can’t feel his legs.
The Reynolds and Gyllenhaal interviews for this movie are hysterical. They really can't be serious and they crack eachother up non stop.
Have you seen the photo of them with Hugh Jackman giving Ryan Reynolds a terrible Christmas sweater? lol
@@JessAndTess No, but that sounds fun!
Ryan Reynolds was originally supposed to play Jake Gyllenhaal's role, but because of scheduling conflicts with The Hitman's Bodyguard, he took the role of Rory, which only required six weeks of shooting. Given this was written by the writers of the Deadpool movies and I think a couple of other Reynolds movies, it's no surprise he was supposed to be the lead.
That explains why he died of so early. Kind of unexpected for a star like Ryan
@@JessAndTess - But I know the writers took glee in getting to kill him off as well!
14:54 If something tries entering your mouth, you bite down. Basic human reflex
THAT PLOT TWIST
Just discovered you guys and you're a hoot! I love your chemistry. This reaction was a delight to watch. This was suuuch a great movie that I wish had gotten a sequel. But alas.....sigh.
If you pay close attention the next time you watch, you'll notice that Calvin tended to attack ONLY when threatened. First the little shock, then the rat's bite, then the fire from the torch, and so on. It's a rather fascinating aspect to the "character" of it, that almost everything was self-defense.
Anyway, you've got yourselves a new subscriber! ☺️
We appreciate that! Interesting, we didn't pick up on he's working in self defense. Well, beyond the obvious self preservation
@@JessAndTess Admittedly it was something I never thought about or considered myself until I read it from another source. Now whenever I watch I can see why the claim is an interesting one and seems more or less accurate. Totally fun movie either way. 😁
3:02 "I don't think they're recruiting you." -Jess
burn 🔥
Lol gottem
Reason why the rat was strapped down is because the gravity is not on the spaceship, so it would be floating around, and it's also so that they can study it and it's effects. That's why I was there love the reaction
Yep. I mentioned that while we were watching... I might have edited it out though...
I loved your reactions to this movie! I too was just as nervous and my blood pressure went through the roof when I first saw it. Thank you and good luck.
Yeah! Our heartbeats were through the roof!
Love this movie. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get any other reactors to watch it. 🌻✌️😸
We're here for you 👍
Calvin was curious friendly and without fear because it felt safe and calm and wasnt threatened but once he shocked Calvin it hurt him and scared him and the trust was gone and the feeling of defending itself took over.. CALVIN IS NO DIFFERENT than any other species animal or person..he's just smarter and stronger and can eliminate all his threats to ensure his survival and WE CAN'T..respect to Calvin
Also he killed the rat only after it bit him ..soo don't hurt Calvin
Yeah, when you corner any beast it will lash out
Amazing detail
You guys are really cool couple, loved the reaction and the movie choice so you got yourselves a new subscriber. Cheers from the land of Dracula (Romania) ! :)
Awesome! Thank you!
30:26 Yes Tess. Anything not sucked into Earth's gravity, would float at high speed around Earth forever. Or until it hit other debris and space crafts or satellites
In realistic terms...NASA does have a protocol when dealing with unknown organisms. NASA astronauts, which they are scientists, know that when they come into contact with an unknown organism, they would not be allowed to come back to Earth.
Great sci-fi movie and reaction! Keep Ryan Reynolds out of space! Thanks for sharing!🐙😊
Thanks for watching!
Now Calvin can just branch out and come up through the drains. Be careful in the shower.
Careful using that funnel toilet. Yikes
Wow guys first time visitor thanks for reacting to this that's not nearly enough reactors have reacted to this awesome film. I'll go ahead and subscribe as long as you promise to consider reacting to another great, under-known gem called _Bone Tomahawk_ from 2015, starring the great Kurt Russell. LOL I can guarantee that you'll never forget it. Haha I dare you, in fact I double-dog dare you 😆
Bone Tomahawk was on Tess' wishlist to watch already! Jess had never even heard of it, but no surprises there!
If Patrick from SpongeBob snaps and goes on a murder spree.
😂
22:28 Except there was no atmosphere in space and it didn't hibernate. So this plan makes no sense
I think they're saying it can remain active without atmosphere for a time (like a dolphin can stay underwater for a long time, but eventually needs to come back up for air). But after a while it will hibernate, like it was on Mars
Love this sci-fi movie. ❤👽👌
Yeah we loved it too! And we're still looking for more to watch!
@@JessAndTess Plz react to Jaws, Alien and Basic Instinct. 👍
Welp time to go to mars
TO GET REVENGE.
this is the worst hentai I've ever seen in my life. bro, the smile after that? GOT EM!
Ryan has another one called BURIED... it's uh, intense.
Ryan Reynolds didn’t get much screen time huh
Maybe he wasn't a big enough star yet?
I hated the ending to this movie, but I get it. It's realistic. If something like this got to earth, we'd be screwed.
What didn't you like about it?
This movie scares me
In Calvins defense, how would you react if you just got woken up from a thousand + years deep slumber only to be poked & prodded, not to mention electrocuted!!!
I mean I can totally understand why he got pissed lol
Yeah, little bugger is just trying to survive
They should have let Jake die and Ryan live. Would have been a much more enjoyable movie
The guy was DISABLED. He had NO FEELING BENEATH HIS WAIST, ergo he didn't know Calvin was attached to his leg. How was that not obvious to you guys?
There are plenty of disabled people who aren't mobile but can feel their legs. Not all paralysis are due to spinal injuries, just like not all crushed vertebrae cause Paralysis (Michael Trucco broke his neck and walked away from having several vertebrae broken and one crushed so bad it had to be fused with another). Not all wheelchair-bound people have neural damage that prevents peripheral signals from reaching the brain. They never explicitly said he was a spinal paraplegic, only that his 10-year-old self wanted out of the wheelchair.
@ChibiHoshiDragon So you REALLY think that was the reason they didn't pick up on it? They thought that despite his wheelchair and severely withered legs that he OBVIOUSLY could still feel something below the waist and knew Calvin was attached yet CHOSE to remain quiet? Or that they just didn't put two and two together from the earlier scenes in the film? I'm well aware not everyone in a wheelchair has zero feeling in their legs but it was clearly implied in the previous scenes. I've seen multiple reaction channels watch this film and none of the others were baffled as to why he didn't mention there was an alien on his leg. Not one. Because they took the clues from what was clearly implied in the earlier scenes. My guess is the vast majority of non-wheelchair users automatically assume that's the case until they find out otherwise. Go lecture the film makers if you have an issue with it.
We are watching a dark, quite movie, with 1 earbud each, with bright lights in our face and talking the whole time. Sometimes things get missed.
@@giggitygiggity8391 The vast majority of non-wheelchair users do *not* assume that it is full sensation loss.
Why do you think Aliens: Resurrection had that scene where you see the knife being dropped and Call is the one who notices first? Because total paralysis and lack of sensation aren't assumed just because someone is in a chair.
It does need to be spelled out!
Only able-bodied prejudiced people who don't see their privilege believe that; not the "vast majority" of non-wheelchair users.
