- Tommy Lasorda tells a joke about a golf tournament. A man with two heavy boxes kept following him around. When Lasroda began to tip off, the man was asked what time it was. The man put the boxes down and gave the news on all of the current events.

Now a wristwatch can do all of those things. How far we've come.
Lasorda as 3rd base coach for LA, playing the Reds. Pete Rose playing 3rd, Lasorda yells to Pete, “hey Pete, we took a vote on the best looking guy on your team, you finished 2nd! Everyone else was tied for 1st!”
He told Mike Soscia if he got in a race with his pregnant wife, he’d finish third
Lasorda was great. He was passionate about the Dodgers. The Dodgers winning the world series in 1988 was not likely. The team probably didn't have the talent to win it, but Lasorda did some incredible managing and managed to make up for that. It was really evident how smart he was just by watching his decisions on when to pull pitchers, when to make lineup changes, it was as marvelous as watching someone play chess really well. His style was unique, but it led to people really liking him. He could be quite demonstrative at games and in press conferences. He made the whole game more interesting and fun.
"Tommy, if you can hear us, thanks for everything you did! I will sure not forget you."
RIP Tommy. You will be missed.
the scary thing is you can do all that with a phone now.
And a watch.
@@gerrythrash6563 wow 9 years ago I said that. And yes, haha now it can be done with a watch.
@@Ibhenriksen good follow up. Stay on point.
when I was at school it was science fiction, now it is old hat.
And people back in the day made fun of Dick Tracy's wrist watch. Lol
He had an Apple Watch.............................
Tommy also said that if Mike Scioscia, then on the Dodgers, had a foot race with his pregnant wife he'd come in 3rd.
Cause he was slow 🐌 ?
He said that about Bruce Benedict too😂😂
Ok now i get it
Tommy, He was no Don Rickles but for sure He was a darn great Dodger manager I even visited his restaurant in Marina Del Rey named Lasorda with some fine Italian dishes the 80's were Tom Lasorda's RIP!
I always thought Tommy's funniest joke he ever heard was when Kurt Bevacqua spoke.
Gotta admit, nothing more hilarious than a trash-talking .130 hitter riding up in a limo, compliments of Tommy
I think the Dave Kingman performance rant was the best
"He couldn't hit water if he fell off a boat."
@@nala3038 "IT WAS HORSE SHIT! HE BEAT US WITH 3 HOME RUNS!"
Yes his Dodger managerial one liners are classic that I still tune on RUclips for Jim Healy's best RIP both, amazing times the 80's and late 70's both great!
i met him once in century city mall parking lot. he couldnt find his car. this was before the seinfeld episode, lol. i drove him around until we found it. gave him my address and he mailed me some tickets.
I lost my car in Logan Airport and ended up taking a taxi to find it. I didn't know they had a North parking lot and a South parking lot.
I'm a Dodger fan since 1958 ,Tommy Lasorda is the greatest manager ever, bar nun. Condolences to the family and Dodger fans. R I P .We will truly miss him ,may the eternal light shine on him and remain for ever.
Some of my best memories are from when The Dodgers played at the L. A. Colosseum. Met all the team and got autographs and photos with my Brownie camera.
Met them at the airport. Once we followed Chuck Essegian home.
Fun teenage years.
Daniel, I respect your love of Dodger Blue, but Tommy had teams loaded with talent...check out Billy Martin who turned lousy teams into successful teams (Minnesota, Detroit, Oakland, Yankees and Rangers
@@joannaedwards6325 I met Steve Garvey in a Pittsburgh hotel when I was 13....what an incredibly nice, fun, polite guy...he joked around with me and my family!
@@BillMorganChannel In 1988, Lasorda won the WS with mediocre talent overall, but because of his managing skills he got the most out of his players and also was a great game manager. His overall record speaks for itself. He probably would have been successful even if he had managed lesser franchises.
@@svetcovladich9996 Tommy was a good manager, not great, the 88 Dodgers had a pitcher, named Orel Hershiser from Buffalo NY who had the greatest season of any pitcher in the 80's
and the MVP in Kirk Gibson.
Hmmmm Cy Young and MVP .... that's loaded my brother!
It's only funny when Tommy's pissed off and on a rant..
Let me see...mmm. In 1984 I was only 6 six years old!! What a great time that was.... I loved the Dodgers at that time!. Thanks for posting!.
Remembering Tommy Lasorda (1927 - 2021). No more problems.
Knowing this was from 1984, I guessed the punchline before it was delivered.
The funniest joke I every heard was, What do old men wear as shorts, boxer shorts or jockey shorts? 'Depends'.
what do old people smell like?....depends.
Why does the night nurse at the old age home give the men a Viagra pill ???
TO KEEP THEM FROM FALLING OUT OF BED !! 😄😄
When the Planet and people on it, made a little more sense. Rip Tommy!
Wow, his joke predicted smartphones and smartwatches. Plus, they say he was hung like a Louisville Slugger!
Very funny joke... but you have to be a baby boomer or earlier to get it!
Yeah! Lasorda hit a homer with this one.
My man predicted the Apple Watch
RIP Tommy.
R.I.P.
buy crypto Tommy ,..lighter than those batteries,.. RIP
Sad part is that no one born after 1990 will ever think it's that funny.
And yes, I was born before then.
i was born in 88 and thought it was funny. gotta put myself in the time's mindset.
Miss you, Tommy.
Rest in peace, coach.
He saw the future!
RIP Tommy Lasorda
Tommy u were a classic!!!
The pope and taxi driver joke he told was even better.
The odd root progressively fool because mallet predictably shiver an a torpid postage. woebegone, green grey grieving schedule
royel panda
You do this a lot. It isn't cute
You are not funny. And now you have ppl copying you. What's the point?
Oh I understand now. It's to get fools like me to respond !
Still it is annoying. 😝 😝 😠 😠
This is great, but what's his opinion about Kingman's performance?
You got to admit that was a ridiculous question. Lasorda gave em a great answer.😂
I don't get it
it's 2021 & i don't get it
man's predicted the apple watch
I just found out he died from the comments RIP
not bad for an old timer, get it.
In the 1980s you would see in movies where the important man would have at least a guy with him both carrying suitcases. The important guy would be carrying the goods such as money, drugs or paper work. The other guy was carrying the important guy's phone.
Unlike me you'd probably have to live in a time when phones and computers aren't a thing lol
man, how times change.
A man before his time...
...you guys...this joke isnt even a joke anymore...most people have a device in their pocket that literally does that...
Tommy's press conferences are way funnier
Describing an apple watch ⌚️
So that's what it takes to become a major league manager!
The dude to his left must be 4'6"....Tommy isn't tall and he towers over him
It jist goes to show they already had the technology for the watch, they just needed to invent the lithium battery.
THE BEST COACH EVER FOR THE BEST TEAM EVER.
GO DODGERS!!!
Might be the only time you hear LaSorda speak this much without one expletive.
Only Tommy could make that sound funny...RIP !!!
Thanks for wasting my time… best joke ever… 🤦♂️
The joke about the two broads in Philly is classic. Tommy boy!!
Forever Dodger Blue!
Love Tommy !
Lasorda was told it was funny.
Over the years how many Dodger players were women?
Tommy was OK, but that joke is a DUD.
who was the guy and why was he on the course following them
Awesome - Who would’ve thunk?
36 years later - Its like is that all that watch can do, got nothing on the smart watch of 2020 - what will it be like 36 years from now?
Walter Alston was better
Batteries? What do batteries have to do with the number of functions a watch has? That joke didn’t age well.
That's a good one
I don't get it. My mom has a watch that does this.
Stolen joke. But no worries.
funnier than the joke lasorda told.
What's your opinion of Lasorda's performance?
I got it. Looks like no one else did, though.
"no one else did, though". That's because most of the people commenting here are millennials who are completely ignorant of history. You can tell from the comments here because they are totally unable to relate to what life was like before the internet, smart phones, and Google Watches. The first baseball game I ever attended was at Dodger Stadium in May 1978. They were playing the Cubs. It was one day before Lasorda was asked the question about Kingman hitting the 3 homeruns and then went off with his infamous rant.
Trust me, I got it. Love, Dave K. LOL
You ask me my opinion of lasordas performance? Jesus Christ
I think it was fuckin horseshit
Funny joke ever? Please!
Apple Watch
"These three guys right here? They've all ex-Yankee managers!"
You mean the only Yankee managers who DIDN'T beat you in a World Series?
Gawd these jokes are so bad.
Which illustrates precisely why Tommy is not a comedian.
Apple Watch
I don't get it. What were the big batteries for?
Tuh
Back then a 3 watt analog bag phone needed a battery the size of about 6 iPhones and then it would need recharging in about 2 hours
Why were those other people with him? Were they censors?
I think they're members of the grounds crew at Dodger Stadium.
Weak
Tommy Lasorda discovered the Apple watch
Well it doesn't work today with smart phones ..
That doesn't say much for the runners-up.
And the guy who went NK was given what? pop quiz/
The funniest joke i ever heard was the Dodgers trading a pitching prostect named
Pedro Martinez...hahaha
Yet another case of desensitization. Incredible! Wow!
This joke didn't age well...:)
Its called a smart watch now Lol
uh .... yeah
Those times seem off...
prejudice towards battery's
Way ahead of its time...
I'm guessing this was long before the iPhone was invented...
No, you don't say!
snap!
Look at "Duke"
ipad
Boo
Apple stole their idea.
Evidence please
Well THAT joke didn’t age well lol
My iphone says all that without massive batteries. Just a tiny crappy one.
I loled
I didn’t find that funny.
Hes one of the few baseball managers i have every heard of
Him and Joe Torres.
Who’s joe Torres
@@johnheinrich1718 former Yankees manager
@@walterreedjr6762 oh, you mean Joe Torre, not joe Torres
It’s actually spelled Torre!
