@@darrensiegel6651 that's true about him and other great comedians and what about the local people we know. Those around us who always make Wise cracks always like to joke around lifing other people's spirits up? Could that be a sign of hiding or coping with their own sadness and depression? I can see that in myself too always trying to make other people crack up when you notice that they're sad and they could use a little pick me up. Give us a sense of worth and enjoyment when you see other people laugh. And you see so many people have their own different ways of laughing. Rodney was a treasure. A real comedian, he didn't have to dazzle you with clever wordplay or stories, it was all the timing and delivery. He primes you to laugh and then delivers it. Brilliant stuff. And don't ever forget, he could sweat with the best of them. You can't teach sweat.

Saw him live many years ago. Still remember some of his jokes. “I ran into the Surgeon General yesterday. Nice guy, he offered me a cigarette.”

As classic as it gets. I remember watching him on TV when it was real time. An absolutely amazing comedian. A style all his own.

Back in the day when comedy wasn't filthy. I miss those days. Rest in peace Mr. Dangerfield. You were so funny and everyone loved you.

Joke for joke, my pick for the funniest standup comic ever. And no, he doesn't get anything like the respect he deserves for it, either.
