When he was done with his part on the video, I signed him out and he said to me, "It was great working with you." Most actors don't even say that, but he seemed like a very sincere guy. I was living in Austin, Texas in the early 70s and around 1972 or so I saw Chris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge in concert in an auditorium setting one night and I was really enjoying the concert, 5th row center, when about a third of the way into the concert, Kris introduces Willie Nelson and Willie literarily sits in and plays the rest of the concert with Kris and Rita the rest of the night! It was a awesome to say the least! Austin was magical back in those days because you never knew what was going to happen! One time I went to a friends house for dinner and Willie Nelson and Jerry Jeff Walker were both there just like I was! You just never knew what was going to happen. Magic!

I met Kris when he performed at Wolf Trap in NOVA with our mutual friend Dallas Wood, his army buddy introduced me! It was the joy of a lifetime having been a fan for many years! Kris Kristofferson made an incredible impact during his life. As a former Army Rangers captain, he served his country with honor and courage, completing rigorous training in Airborne, Ranger, and flight schools.
His commitment didn’t stop there; he volunteered to fly helicopters in Vietnam but instead chose to share his love of literature as a professor at West Point.
His contributions, both in the military and as an artist, will always be remembered and appreciated. Thank you, Kris, for everything you did! RIP sweetheart!

Just showing this down-to-earth video was a beautiful tribute to one of the greatest and most creative musical minds of our time--and music was only one of his accomplishments in a long and rewarding life.

The movie he made that was (Hollywood speak) “plateaued” is called Song Writer. Great interview by Letterman! The man was brilliant & probably one of the greatest song writers ever! So lucky to have had him in my periphery & loving his music most of my life. Rest well.♥

A lot of people don't know Kris was a Rhodes Scholar. Pretty impressive.
And, by all accounts, a road scholar. That man lived a life.
He had to hide his education at the time he was trying to make it in Nashville. Because he "couldn't get arrested", despite having degrees in Literature and Creative Writing.
1 of the true greats. The word legend gets used too much. I'll just say Kris is an icon. A true music God.

This dude lived the life. He was like superman. He could do anything and pretty much did. He also co wrote "Me and Bobby McGee" nuff said.
Kris had a CV and a biography that will never be matched. He won medals as a boxer and earned degrees with honors in literature...and many other things in between. And as visible in this clip a total gentleman.
Kris may even be a single drop of rain. But he will remain. He'll be back again and again and again. Great impactful, talented human being.
