One of the best innovations on sticks ever.
SECOND DUST WASHER : The main issue with leaving the inside second dust washer is that after taking out your balltop or battop that washer moves a bit inside the enclosure around the Link's lower rod, so when you want to reconnect your Link you have to recenter manually that second washer for the Link's upper rod to be able to reach and reconnect with the Link's lower rod. Other than that I don't see any other issue.
1) SPRING LOAD : With the Link installed, my Hayabusa joystick now feels a bit stiffer than originally. It feels like if I had installed a stiffer spring inside. I have noticed that the Link's total length is a bit shorter than the Hayabusa original rod so the Link is increasing the spring load. Not a big difference, but a noticeable one. So it's better you know that fact before buying a Link.
2) BATTOP : With the Focus Attack aluminum Battop, it's a real PITA to disconnect the Link. The treads to screw the rod are few millimeters inside the bottom of the battop, so the space between the bottom of the battop and your joystick enclosure is shorter than with a balltop. I don't have big hands, but because the space is very tight it's rendering difficult the disconnect operation of the Link.
Thank you so much, I was about to destroy the stick my Qanba Carbon came with when replacing it with a JLF. Due to this video I realized I just needed to remove the horse shoe in order to remove the stick.
Very good tutorial.
Thanks so much for this video, now I can make a hybrid fightstick.
Many thanks good sir, I just got my link installed thanks to this video.
DOnt know if id like the thicker shaft (hey!) but great idea
@ResidentStevil0 I haven't yet attempted it, but I would think there'd be a way to mount the LED at the bottom of the shaft so that it shines up through it to illuminate the balltop, then you wouldn't have any wiring traveling within the shaft.
Thanks for the video, this looks like it operates exactly as I hoped it would. One question, since it isn't apparent from the video - is the height of the shaft the same as stock? It looks a little stubby, though this may be because it's wider than stock at the bottom.
Great Stuff, great idea.
Some people have used 24mm plugs to address that issue... 24mm plugs don't fit the joystick hole on my Hori RAP V3SA though.
did anyone else laugh at the amount of innuendos in this video or am i 12 years old
Soes the joystick spring and all that wear out overtime
is it necessary to take the balltop off first before removing the shaft? I'm buying the link but the original shaft i have has the balltop glued on for some reason and won't come off.
if you take the shaft out doesn't that risk dusting getting in the shaft while you carry it in y our bag?
Is there anything like this for IL or Happ Battop style sticks?
will this shaft work on a seitmitsu joystick?
what second dust washer are they talking about. I just got this, but i see no second dust washer/cover they say to remove
+untold44 You have a stick that has an actual Sanwa JLF joystick? They are supposed to have a dust washer that sits under the control panel surface and one that sits on top.
+Donovan Myers is it under the metal mounting plate? Because when i take my shaft out i have i white bushing that fits on the shaft, then a black piece that the spring sits on, the spring, then the other black piece.
You can see in this photo (cdn1.bigcommerce.com/server6200/ajh2rr5h/products/60/images/185/JLF-TM-8T-black__55263.1333534344.1280.1280.jpg?c=2) that there appear to be 2 dust washers stacked on top of each other. The top one is the only one that sits on the control panel. The other is beneath it.
Can this be used on a qanba obsidian?
yea dude, i use it on my obsidian.
is the SANWA LB-35-N Battop compatible to The Link?
Yes, the link has the correct thread pattern for standard Sanwa and Seimitsu ball tops.
so the Battop doesn't block the release switch of the link?
津田エース whoops. I misread battop as balltop. But, yeah, the battop still works. It doesn’t go down the shaft far enough to get in the way. The Focus Attack website’s product page for the link confirms balltop AND battop compatibility.
thank you Sir. (Y)
