    The amount of giveaway begging in these comments is real. The constant begging for giveaways is why I dont do them often anymore. People never learn, so I give away stuff to local friends and family instead.

    I love your vlog's. Anything related to building, fixing, customizing is brilliance. I go back and watch skunkworks vlogs every once in a while because they're so damn entertaining. They're my fav. Keep it up! Clear that stuff up! Start vlogging more random ass builds! You know we all love to see that stuff!

  • @Chalkie1983
    @Chalkie1983 9 лет назад +1

    I just want to say that I watch you not because you "are like linus" or "you have all the stuff" its your personality that I like, and that's the reason I watch. Its great to see a vlog of you doing some stuff, I only have a 2 bedroom flat here in the UK and I have a 3 month old daughter so my space is limited so I can't do the videos I would like, but going back to my comment, for someone who has only been doing this for 4 months, you have been great for that time, keep doing what your doing! :)

  • @seanmcmunn88
    @seanmcmunn88 9 лет назад +5

    If you are interested you could send the fluid out for chemical analysis, take some fresh and the old stuff and compare the results. If its organic or inorganic (such as oxidation) that will show.
    Might be worth while as metal oxides in the fluid mean either the blocks or the fittings are deteriorating and could fail soon.

    • @Starchface
      @Starchface 9 лет назад +1

      +Sean McMunn When Linus took apart his whole-room watercooling abomination, the GPU blocks were plugged with orange slime or jelly. Well, let's call it a sludge. I wonder if it is similar. His chemical analysis was conducted by tasting, so he should head over to Jay's for a taste of Jay's slime or jelly.

    • @seanmcmunn88
      @seanmcmunn88 9 лет назад +5

      +pillsnotbills Tasting Jay's jelly...

    • @Starchface
      @Starchface 9 лет назад +2

      Sean McMunn Hmm...it sounded different in my head. Oops

    • @jamesbernard3255
      @jamesbernard3255 9 лет назад

      +pillsnotbills What could have contributed to the build up was mix of different metals, regular tap water, too much heat since every cpu and gpu were connected are all factors. The idea was sound in principle but what they should have done in the beginning was to just get a window mounted ac unit to cool down the room.
      What Jay should do is to use straight distilled water and just run the GPU loop to see what type of debris is in the radiators and it will be a pain in the ass to take them out and clean them out.

    • @Starchface
      @Starchface 9 лет назад

      James Bernard Well, sound idea but crazy implementation. That was confirmed the moment he brought out the copper tubing. Almost all the heat will go directly into the room, and since the point was to make the room cooler _without_ air conditioning, it was useless. Nothing but a gigantic headache.
      At the very least it would have to be heavily insulated so the majority of heat gets outside, but even that is dubious. A lot of heat is lost to the room via the motherboard and the case, which are designed not to retain heat but to reject it. The system should have been designed by experts in thermodynamics and fluid dynamics, and built by people who know what they are doing, but still it would be hard to justify and a pain in the ass.
      You are right: it makes far more sense to cool the machines via conventional means, and during summer air-condition the room (in winter the heat would be welcome). This would also account for the PSU heat, which was not addressed at all. Linus refused to listen to anyone and learned his lesson the hard way. Well, he _did_ get a whole series of videos out of it.
      As for Jay's jelly, analysis might be a good approach. Linus was blowing on his tube, which I don't recommend. You just don't know what kind of toxins or bacterial contamination may be present. It could even be deadly.

      It is false marketing, and they keep it up because both of them do it (Nvidia and AMD.)

    Hi Jayz. I think color change in the liquid might have something to do with the nanofluid you used. Since the the graphics loop is subjected to more heat, and it correlates with more change in the color, it gives me the idea that it might have changed color because of heat.

I hope you don't get frustrated and tired with people who have personal interests and an overflowing ego to actually request a Giveaway as they'll probably never seize to exist! As you said giving away stuff isn't that simple and makes people unappreciative and unwilling to work their butts off like you do to actually earn the respect that those great companies show to you and trust you with their gear for you to review and talk about! Anyway, I've talked way too long, what I want to say is, keep up the good work, you truly have been inspiring, about everything you have said (I can't remember how long I have been following you but in all your videos, you aren't just promoting or reviewing, you are also sharing personal thoughts about many things), have shown and still show! I like your vlogs. Pretty entertaining, your legit two cents about obscure handy dandy gadgets are always sweet. Your tips on how to drain are well placed. It's probably obvious to veteran water cooling hobbyists but it's a legit nightmare for rookies. There have been elitist forums about it for ages but really comprehensive breakdowns are intimidating and some people just need to be told hey dude put your drain at the lowest point in your loop.
    Dazmode here in Canada has a cute wc guide on RUclips but turning your computer upside down isn't always an option.
    I mean of course the water cooling community is small but it's probably the most overlooked lifehack people looking to ec should be remembering.

    Your shelf is sagging because of 2 things. 1) it's a thick ass board. and 2) you don't have triangle supports underneath it on each end.

    The ikea struggle is real jay. My solution with these cheap Ikea shelves is to find the stud (one or more if you can) and drill through the metal bracket of the shelf and screw right into the wall. Rock solid with a couple extra screws.

      +Xenooni Thats how all shelves should be installed! Mine are definitely in the studs and not in the sheetrock only.

    I like the Vlog video, its something a little different and shows how much hard work it actually takes to do what you do. Thanks for the videos, keep up the good work.. Squash the haters, and people asking for free stuff, nothing but trolls.

    I had the exact same problem, also with yellow pastel from Mayhems, but with Alphacool rads, and EK blocks, I couldn't understand for the life of me why it was happening, so when mayhems brought out the Blitz radiator/loop, cleaning kit , it's actually just as much of a PH balancer, as it is a cleaner, I thought I'd give it a go, and I'm so glad I did, it has been great ever since. It might be worth a look J.

    More VLOGS, Jay. They're great to having going while doing work and such. Also, if space is an issue, you could always sell off some of the older stuff that you don't use. Or are you not able to do that with that stuff?
