    Jay the reason that the fluid changes color is because of the fuzz balls that come from your shirts. Next time do it shirtless

    I did this very job today flushing with distilled water. I use an aquarium pump and it works a treat and will clear the loop of colour using approx 5 litres of water. I found this method to be much quicker and the results were infinitely better than the fill and gravity method I used last time.
    Great video jay!

    In most cases I use low pressure on my compressor and a soft rubber fitting to blow it out SLOWLY.
    I know you're going through a lot of work but the consumer will thank you. THey will be able to fix what ever is causing it so it wont be an issue for others. So, Thank you.

    Hi Jay,
    Get an endoscope camera and examine every part and look for discoloration.
    I think the exposed metal is causing a reaction with the color.
    You can track down the culprit if you keep the drained fluid and send it in for analysis too or
    you can analyse it yourself by putting fresh colored fluid in a glas with every single metal type you have in the loop.
    Try heating it up very long in an open and well ventilated space, preferably build an incubator or aother type of enclosure that you exaust as far away from you as possible. You can use a DIY heat exchanger for the exaust and intake but keep an eye on the direction of the wind and where you put those pipes.
    Don't exaust it through your chimney as that is likely to put you and your family at risk.
    :)

    Hey Jay, I'm just curious... Why don't you let the system run on just distilled water for a few weeks? Wouldn't that help clean up your systems hardware and maybe debunking the theory that it's the fluid..? I don't know, I'm not an expert water cooler, I've only ran AIO's so i'm just curious...

    • @ElNeroDiablo
      @ElNeroDiablo 8 лет назад

      +Bearded Rabbitt The problem is running on pure distilled won't prevent crap from possibly growing inside the loop and ending up worse than just dealing with discoloured fluid. Running coolants (pre-mixed or concentrates) means they have the stuff to prevent crap from growing inside and such.
      That, and it's easier to see if a coolant is being discoloured if it's dyed (like what Jay uses) compared to if it's clear.

    • @Rabbitt23
      @Rabbitt23 8 лет назад +1

      I just figured that it would turn to like a brown color if it was clear. I guess that makes sense though. I didn't mean pure distilled water, I figured that anti-growth and anti-corrosion additives were just a given in that situation. lol The discoloring point does make a lot of sense though!

    Got an idea for a new Water Cooling Item...
    One of those Survival Bottles you can fill up with filthy water which when pushed/sucked through a system of filters inside the Bottle will filter out most if not all contaminants.
    Using 2 Gallons of Distilled Water until you're clean sure looks like a waste of resources ( at least in my book ) and with such a filtration system you could ( if it works at all ) chain it up into the look somewhere and have it run until the water turns clear once again then just dispose of the used up filter and be happy again.
    Not sure if a PC Pump would be able to push the water through the Filter though... Might have to drain the Water outside and use the Filter without it being part of the System :°

    get a small enclosure box. get transformer either Wallwart or ac wire from wall to bottom bay. get full bridge rectifier. get a cap if you wanna be fancy (converter will have one)...and a dc-dc converter for each voltage you need(figure out what your transformer is outputing then what you need). throw that all in a small plastic enclosure with an input for lead from main psu and a multi pol multi throw switch...now fuse it [both electrically and mechanically ] do this and you wont have to drag out a full psu every time. for the few watts required to run those pumps its wayyyyyy over kill

    I suspect your browning is due to a bacterial infestation, which would explain why it keeps happening after you flush and it happens slowly. I used to have the same problem with copper boilers and hot water in commercial coffee machines, the water in the sight glass (similar to your hard tubing) would turn brown and the water would smell like something died inside, I had to flush 3 stages. Stage one would be a disinfecting chemical like hydrochloric acid (or your leading baby bottle sterilizer from chemist), then flushed it with citric acid (from your local hardware store) to remove the hydrochloric acid/ sterilizer, then finally flushed with filtered water. I would leave each chemical in for an hour and let it heat up. Hope this helps.

    Did you ever figure it out? as well when dealing with distilled water for high end greenhouses you have to adjust or neutralize the pH or check the EC and micromineral content in the water and storebought brands and such can vary greatly due shelf time and leeching as well as its base pH before distilling process was done
