Bought one of these In August have 300 plus rounds through it has been flawless like my P17. Hate you are having this issue but if there is a design issue glad it popped up on this test.
Sorry this happened. I doubt it’s a design flaw but rather a bad part.
Please post a follow up test when you get the gun back from KT.
Good review! Liked and subbed. Edit: GREAT review!
Thank you very kindly
I had some other weird problems with my P15, which was in the very first batch of pistols made. In my case, the aluminum chassis was out of spec, causing a number of weird issues. An issue with how the chassis was machined appears likely here.
Once KT fixed my gun, it's been flawless.
I have had my p15 for 4 months and 500 rounds thru it with no failers.
After being impressed with the P17, I thought this gun was going to be a winner
Just my 2 cents, I originally got a cp33 which had a failure to chamber often, polished the feed ramp and kept it fairly clean, worked like a champ with non-greased ammo. My P17 has had 0 issues with over 1000 rounds, and my P15 has also had 0 issues with about 500 rounds. Bad parts happen, I have a Gen 3 glock 19 that had failure to eject often, bad part replaced by glock, was like a new gun. It happens but Keltec is GREAT with customer service
I’ve put over 500 rounds through mine, and all I needed was locktite. My takedown pin is quite challenging to remove without a cartridge. It’s quite odd that yours should move freely.
Also, check for a broken magazine follower. I had one break and mess with the hold open lever. Maybe there’s too much material on the lever over the magazine and it’s working the pin out with every round
It's an interesting and unique failure. Kel Tec has it currently. Waiting on a warranty repair or replacement.
You can pull the pin out, but the slider will not go forward unless you release the striker pin.
250 rounds through mine with no failures.
I did have issues however. Keltec fixed for free. I had to send it back 2x.
1: front sight moving side to side
2: safties disengaged but backstrap still engaged.
I love mine with 90 grain underwood, sorry you are having issues both my P15 and P17 work flawless, you should have read the manual about the adjustable mag disconnect.
Simple small spring detent. Same design used on other KelTecs. Either you lost the spring, or you didn't make sure the takedown pin snapped into place.
as per Kel-Tec, the spring and the detent were not installed from the factory. I have always been bothered by ignorant people making comments before getting any facts. I have the paperwork from Kel-Tec if needed, so please go away now.
I fired my P15 today and had this happen with the 15 round magazine. The same magazine wouldn’t lock the slide back on the last round either, but the 12 rounder was perfect. The 15 rounder worked with no problems in my 10 year old P-11, though. Go figure, I guess.
That might be the mag release button there is an update for it.
@@user-gn8rr1rf5d
Is this updated mag release button advertised on Kel Tec website or are you in the know because you work there ?
Also are they still shipping the older version because the OP is only 5 months ago and your responded only a month later ?
I hate when companies still ship inferior products out even though they have updated parts... Knowing many people will just sell it or not follow through with shipping it back.... 🤨
@@Soli_Deo_Gloria_. I sent back for repairs, as mine would pop out when releasing the empty mag.
I've never seen that happen.
Unique malfunction indeed.
Turns out the detent and spring that should have held the takedown pin in place was missing from the factory.
@@RattlesnakeDefense wow
@@RattlesnakeDefense Did they make it right? Also maybe you outta try a new one?
Keltec is the gun manufacturer I wish I didn't like.
Keltec and kahr arms need to team up. Imagine the possibilities
Funny, i am right handed and my left hand is UNDER my right hand as i shoot. My left hand cups my right hand from below and covers my right hand 3 fingers UNDER the trigger guard.
I have a metal p15 and haven’t experienced the problem you have with the takedown pin. Probably a manufacturing defect with your pistol.
Unacceptable from keltec.
So what did Kel Tec say ?
They sent me a RMA and it is on its way back to Kel Tec
Appreciate your time spent in responding, looking forward to your follow-up... Kel Tec is either you love'm or hate'm kinda company. I personally really like their stuff. I have the PMR-30 and the P17 and enjoy both... I'd entertain the P15 just out of sheer weight factor. It's unbeatable in form factor vs. weight... Thanks for the review n'God bless brother
If you cleaned the pistol before your review you may have lost a small spring detent.
Where would that be located? Mine started acting funny after cleaning but shot fine before cleaning.
I bought the 15, it jams, new ammo, clean and oiled, no reason, I will give two more tests, if it fails it's an oh-well.
I was very disappointed, I try to like Kel Tec and have much respect for the company as a whole, but this one falls flat on its face.
The firearm that will teach you how to break your pistol down and control your temper.
Correct.
Obviously there is something wrong with this gun and it should be returned to Kel-Tec along with this video!
It was, still waiting...
Rut roh, Raggy!
I'm always bothered by ignorant people doing reviews.
You can turd the back strap safety off same with mag disconnect .. Tue mag release isn't great and they pop up .. He doesn't explain you can turn off the mag and safety its what the innovation part of the gun but why do a review lol ..some these channels man
Because it broke. If it doesn't function, what difference is that going to make
Some of these comments man.
Stuff like that could get someone killed.
For $400 I can just buy a used Glock
These are 280 now though .. Its super light and skinny not a used block kinda gun .. Just a light carry gun with 15 rds
Where is this $280 ?
... and thanks 👍
I've seen them as low as $320 on ammoseek. In store it could get lower depending on location or if it's used.
The P32 is insane at $400+. But there's nothing else in the market that's a 6.6oz .32 ACP with 7+1 rounds.
So no followup on your P15 repair?
Typical keltec
