After watching 40-50 channels and learning tids n bits from them in last 1 year, i finally found my real mentor. Thank you so much for your tutorials Jason. Loads of Love from India!
Glad to hear that
Was gonna say the same thing, I learned more from this one video than I have from most RUclips tutorials combined. Really well done
Really awesome i always follow your tutorials. God bless you
This is exactly the same that has happened with me!!! I am so greatfull to Jason sir!! God bless you sir!!!
I have seen majority of piano channels on you tube,,,what you bring to the table is very essence of music ,,,it’s soul. Great job. Learnt a lot .
Wow, thank you Sharad!
Great Guru, humble attitude and willing heart to teach. May God bless and increase you
Clever teacher
It's very satisfying
I have a problem with rhythm
I find it almost impossible
Good man
Awesome Spiros!
This is inspired piano instruction! I am 73 and have been taking lessons for a little over 1 year. I know my scales, my rhythms, and all my chord inversions, but my hand coordination is awful. None of the other online tips on hand independence have worked for me, but after viewing this lesson, I was inspired to try it. Jason, you are right!! Singing the melody DOES get your brain into the mix! I tried the first, basic part of this lesson, just trying to get my right hand playing at double speed while my left stayed at the base speed. Mistake after mistake after mistake, until I slowed WAY down and started singing the right hand melody part. Gradually I got better and better, and had my first mistake-free 4-bar success after banging away for 1 hour. I did it!! There is nothing better than this feeling of accomplishment, that something I thought I could not do, is now done. It may take me months to get to quad time, but I am now determined to get there. Thank you, Jason!
Most welcome Don! It's such a pleasure hearing from students progress and it encourages me to keep it going with more lessons! Do stay tuned! More on Independence here: www.nathanielschool.com/free-lessons/tags/independence
Very true, singing also helps hitting the right notes. A famous Canadian pianist always hummed to the point one can hear him on his recordings. Excellent pedagogy, Jason.
I can't wait to get to get this same level as yourself Don. I'm sure I will with Jason as our mentor. Good luck and have fun on your continuing progress.
THIS guy knows how to actually teach. More students would relate and retain interest if more teachers taught this way.
The world of musicians needed you....
This is how a complete tutorial has to be. In the right sequence addressing every doubt a learner would have. Jason, thank you so much.
Awesome to hear Bhaktha!
What a truly excellent teacher; with a beautiful voice as a bonus!
Fantastic is the only word to describe your gift as a teacher. You are my go to piano teacher on the tube. Thank you so much!

Most welcome and thanks for the support!
great video man, you make the rhythm to stand out and i could really feel it watching your video ... .the sentence you said will stick with me ... the rhythm comes from your body, not the metronome .... it had profound meaning, you can't even imagine ... you need to FEEL the rhythm ... no metronome will ever do the trick for you unless you start to feel the rhythm in your body .... thanks man, amazing video, i'm glad youtube brought me here
I appreciate that! Thanks for your support 😊

It’s hard but worth it !
Irealle want to play two hand desperately 😀😀
Thank boss 🙏🎹
Most welcome! And have fun!
Concured with Black Hawk. I have found my mentor. Most videos are cut short, but Jason's lessons are complete. I practice everyday with any videos I'm interested in for that day. It feels like I'm in a class and a music lab everyday without leaving my home. Or just listen to the lessons while on the road. The only reason I am not a Patreon supporter is because I don't care to have a Patreon account. If there are other ways to support Jason's channel or Jason, I'm interested.

Awesome Sajal!
I had already learned the basics of this exercise from another channel. BUT this is a whole new level. The sound of the minor scale is great and made me realize adding in black keys made it much more challenging whether you are using minor or major. Tge C major version of this was getting boring. The metronome is a great idea as well. I haven’t been doing that.
Awesome! Great to hear and thanks for following our channel 😊

I’m so happy to have found you Jason. You’re a wealth of musical knowledge and a treasure! Thank you for your generosity - I will subscribe to your Patreon.
I do have one question though… I have a bad habit of holding my breath as I concentrate which began during a high stress job on the computer 10 years ago and has now become a subconscious habit when I play the piano. It’s maddening and diminishes my ability to relax and play freely. I’ve tried meditation, breathing exercises and more without success. Is this common and what do you you recommend I do to overcome it? Thank you again!🙏🙏🙏
Thanks so much! Perhaps you can watch this lesson where I cover Dynamics in detail: ruclips.net/video/AkOp7gHUvvg/видео.html. We also time our Piano playing with our breath. As you inhale and exhale over a bar or two the volume of the Piano rises and falls beautifully ☺️
@@nathanielschool Thank you Jason! I will watch that lesson right now!🙏🙏🙏
Better to learn it as a percussion tool which gives harmony too . Thus it is unique . Swing is more melodious timing. Great lesson.
Awesome Babu!
Jason. I think you must have been working as a college teacher sometime. Apart from learning to play keyboard or piano one can also pick up a lot of stuff enabling us to learn the English language. Two mangoes in one stone. Thank you very much. I am following your videos one by one.
Thanks Mike! No college experience! But I try my best to drive the point across!
Hello sir thankyou so much for the way you teach and explain... God bless you sir... I have a yamaha pss26 keyboard the keys are small in size... I tend fumble on the keys... Do i have to purchase keyboard with bigger keys or do i have to practise more on the same keyboard. Thankyou🙏🙏
Nice
I really appreciate it!
Jason, GREAT exercise! I did quite well playing "divide by 2" Straight, up to 90BPM. A bit of a struggle for me playing it in Swing, I have to turn off the metronome, and just play it much slower. Now, with Triplets -- that's a difficulty for me, my Left Hand doesn't want to seem to "hold it's ground"! Will do more practice, and I'll get it.
So, a question ----- is playing Triplets considered a "Swing" tempo, or "Straight"? Is there any other way to play Triplets, other than what you have shown? Thanks! Jerry
Can you watch this lesson Jerry. May help explain the concepts better:
ruclips.net/video/l2z40W3_b7k/видео.html
@@nathanielschool Yes, I watched your video link -- Excellent explanation Jason, you have a real talent for teaching and explaining concepts! OK, so I now have a LOT of work to do!! LOL, but that's fine. I'm pretty sure I'll get the hang of divide by 2, 3, and 4, playing Straight, but I think it will take some effort to get those Swing variants "under my belt"! I'm looking over all your previous videos for tips on how to play. Thanks! Jerry
As a guitar player I picked the piano up through the years. In the last year I have started writing a piano piece but got stuck and my left hand just wants to follow the right. Getting my left hand to be independent from my right is a struggle because I hear things in my head but my left hand won't do it.
Keep at it. These 2 instruments are very similart!
What piano are you using? Great lesson BTW. So hard!
Thanks a ton! Using a Roland RD88 at the moment but the sounds are processed separately. I just use it for MIDI
Teaching is more interesting thank you

Noted Johnson! Depends on the lesson and my preferred flow of instruction. The lesson lengths will have to differ
Hi, I just subscribed your channel. I cant seem to separate the beat in both hands. Can you please explain how to ? Thanks !
Didn’t understand your doubt
practice, practice, practice, patience, patience, patience. Take it as slow as you need to then increase speed. and have confidence in yourself that you will master this. you can do it.🇯🇲❤
