This video series caught my eye. I have a GS500F and a 2000 Bandit 1200. Whenever I ride the GS500 even a little hard, the front brake disc turns blue, This little bike is surprisingly heavy and really could use dual discs. Great video! I have an engineering degree and a machine shop at work too!

Cut the bandit stem down and re tap it to have the same thread

You're right, I haven't filmed the unbuilding process as I assumed that this is an easy task and didn't want to make the video even longer.
