  • Here we remind ourselves of what the Suzuki looked like when it first come here. And then...... What it ended up looking like once we had a dance with it. I really enjoyed this one, a great bike and a superb result. It cost much more than what it is worth, but it is the fun of seeing what it looks like when it is finished. Total time taken to buy, strip, overhaul, and then re-build, was about 15 months. Cost was about £2000. But, doesn't she look nice.

    That's a fantastic restoration. What an underrated bike the GS500 is. That shot at 2:30 when you saw the restored frame took my breath away. Really good job, up there with RRC Restorations 👍🇦🇺

      Hi, Thanks for the nice comments, I really appreciate it. I have restored many bikes over the years. I did an NTV a few years ago, I am trying to get the pics I had for it so I can do a video on that one as that was a peach when it was done.

      Hi, The secret is to not get into a unrecoverable position. So, The thing to do is to make a list of things you would like to do. Then, pick just one thing off the list and do that. You are never too far away from a useable bike. As you get more experience you can go deeper

    Fantastic job mate, thanks for sharing! Could you tell me what that carbon looking thing you put on the top yolk is?

    • @RestorationBiker
      @RestorationBiker  Год назад

      Hi, yes the carbon thing is a vinyl sheet 'carbon fibre look' sticker that I stuck onto the top yoke. You buy a sheet of this stuff and then cut out the shape that you need. I use it quite a bit on the top yokes.

    Wer sagt mir, dass das kein fake ist? Es werden lediglich Aufnahmen gegenübergestellt, aber keine Einzelschritte gezeigt. GS500 gibt es wie Sand am Meer für sehr wenig Geld. Die komplette Restauration dürfte den Neuwert übersteigen, also sinnlos! Bei dem Zustand müsste auch der Motor komplett restauriert werden!

    • @RestorationBiker
      @RestorationBiker  Месяц назад

      You are mistaken, this is not fake! You need to watch all the videos in the Suzuki GS500 series. They show the bike as it was bought. All the various stages of the rebuild were shown too. Yes the cost was much more than what the bike was worth, but that is WHY I do motorcycle restoration. Because I LIKE to rebuild things for the pleasure of the rebuild. I don't do it to earn big money. To me there is no point doing a bike like the Suzuki GS500 if you want to make money. You would have to do a Suzuki GT750, or a Kawasaki Z900. Neither of these bikes I want to restore, because they are for the greedy type of restorer. I am a motorcycle restorer, I am a retired motorcycle mechanic who likes to do a nice job, purely for the satisfaction of restoring the machine. Look at some more of my videos before you make a judgement. There are a lot of fake restoration channels out there. This one isn't one of them.

      @@MrKlassikfreund No problem, I can see how you would think what you did. There are plenty of people who do fake videos. But I love restoring things. It is great now that I can do videos of my work. That GS500 did come out very well. But it cost a lot of money to do it.
