They are doing this 100% because Paul wants to win some argument about sex before marriage being a HUGE issue to him since we all know that Morgan did and he didn't. Also, Catholic guy seems like he doesn't need to sit around obsessing on what others do in the bedroom because he's focused on being a good person and father. Maybe Paul can take a hint lol

This is my problem with modern day Christianity. They quite literally are not trusting in what Jesus accomplished alone. There's a difference between telling someone how they should be living now that they are in Christ and telling a person that they're not saved because they are doing something unchristlike. And you are so right to point out this doubletalk from these people.

I had no idea about the ages they were when they got married. While 5 years isn't much when you're in your late 20s and beyond, I think 5 years is pretty huge in your early 20s. You're pretty freshly an adult, there is a lot of physical change still happening in your brain and brain development, and as you said, a 21 year old will often see a 25 year old as older and wiser. I feel that Morgan may have missed out on chance to develop a lot of her own worldview, since she married to young to a man who she deferred to out of both religious obligation and possibly seeing him as wiser than her.

  • @kay-bc3vl

I have a few thoughts lol
    1) I think it’s interesting that from what we saw Morgan only spoke to white girls that looked like her. I would have liked her to talk to all the girls and Paul talk to all the guys.
    2) Paul really seems to have a personal issue with sex before marriage and not out of conviction but out of some sort of pure obsession. I think he should work out why this is sooooo important to him though he’s literally already married.
    3) I don’t fully understand the purpose of this video. We know without going to the mall and polling people what the general thought about sex before marriage is.
    4) Again to the sex obsession, sex is not the only sin so asking a question like “if you die tomorrow” could literally be asked to any damn individual surrounding anything and idk why Paul even went that deep when the question was asking about sex before marriage.
    4) Ultimately I want Paul and Morgan to never do this again 😅

I was raised Catholic. To answer your question from my point of view no being engaged does not mean that you are married in the eyes of God.
I feel like some Catholics are very rigid and strict in what they believe and can come across to being fundamentalist Christians as well. This was not my experience and I "hate" the term of " being saved." I was taught that if you grow up believing in God and trying to live your life in a Christ-like way ( respecting others, being non-judgmental, helping others, etc) then you will go to Purgatory when you die first so that God can see where in Heaven you will go or if you where "bad" then where in Hell you would go. I know that other people believe other things about where you go after death.
This is hard to say because I feel like it is lumping and grouping all Protestant ( non-catholics) together but many Protestant misinterpret some of the beliefs of Catholics and assume that we are not Christians. I once asked someone: What makes you a Christian? Their response was in its most basic form " I am Christian because I believe that God sent his son Jesus to earth to wash away my sins and allow me to repent for my wrong doings. I told them I believe that too so therefore I am also a Christian. So when I saw this video it came across to me that Paul was saying that because this man is Catholic he is not a Christian and that bothers me because the basic principles of Catholicism and Protestantism is the same. We are all Christians in my eyes. .
I do not consider my self as super religious, but. I do try to live my life in a " Christ-like Way" and I attend church regularly. Sorry for such a long message but I just wanted to give you my perspective in the clearest way possible.

My win was getting to spend time with my three sisters, two sons & their wives at the baby shower for my first grandchild!!
I was pregnant when I married my husband, so there's that. He passed away when he was 38 & I was 34.
I met my current husband and married him in 2020 at age 52. We had been sexually active, but our pastor challenged us to abstain and focus on our relationships with God individually as well as a couple. I can honestly say I'm glad we did!! Our relationship is grounded in our faith. Truth be told, we have great sex, even at our ages!!!

Okay. But which part of marriage is my question. After you say "I do" in a church? Or after you file the marriage license with the court clerk? Like which SPECIFIC part makes it okay to get down, you know?
And like, if you don't have a wedding, but you for all the paperwork so you're legally married, does that count? Or does it only count of you have the ceremony in a church? But what if you never formally for the paperwork?
Or what if you get the marriage annulled 2 days later? So that its not actually a divorce, but you were TECHNICALLY married when you first had sex? What then?
It all just seems so arbitrary and stupid

  • @abbysc417
    @abbysc417 Год назад +2

I was raised Catholic and the “if you’re engaged than God sees you as married” is not the teachings I was given. So much so that if a couple wanted to get married in a Catholic Church, they have to prove they aren’t living together.
However there wasn’t as much of a emphasis on purity in Catholicism as there seems to be in Evangelicalism. The biggest “hot topics” I was raised with were more about abortion, euthanasia, and adultery (against), and poverty relief and asylum/immigration (pro).

Raised Catholic and went to a Catholic school for nine years. I do not practice Catholicism today, but I am a Christian. Sex according to Catholicism is considered wrong outside of marriage. That's not to say that all Catholics hold that belief firmly in their heart today. It varies person by person.

Five years isn’t a huge age gap, but it feels so much larger the younger you are. It’s the difference between a college graduate/ grad student, and someone who’s only recently been legally allowed to drink. When Paul was 20, Morgan was still raising her hand in class to ask if she could use the bathroom

As a Catholic… what is this term “soul tie??” A sin is a sin… the more you sin the more it separates you from God, however, committing a sin doesn’t “tie you to another soul??” That’s just weird. You repent and move on. And try to do better next time. And Jesus is always calling you.

Practicing Catholic here: Engagement doesn't constitute a marriage. It's a private expression of the intention to get married. It sounds like the Catholic guy is a bit confused about what the Church teaches, and Paul went for some gotcha questions. The guy is clearly on a journey and wasn't prepared to answer personal questions at the mall, and it seemed unfair for Paul to post that online for views.
Also, purity culture is unhealthy, and it makes an idol out of virginity. Christians are called to chastity, and anyone can live a chaste life--married people, those who've had many partners in the past, etc. Virginity is not a measure of a person's dignity and worth. Even St. Augustine of Hippo has a son out of wedlock before his conversion! He famously prayed, "O Lord, Make me chaste, but not yet!"

I think that could have been gone about a different way; Ray Comfort does this but he talks about sin in general: lying, stealing, cheating, but then tells whomever he is interviewing about the Gospel. Morgan has talked about how trash Paul is in bed so many times. Paul probably uses it against her and blames her history before him. This is why he’s such an advocate of waiting till marriage. Men like this don’t want women to have any experience to compare them to, otherwise they would have to actually learn their partners body and take direction from them sexually.

I am catholic and went to catholic school pretty much my whole life including college. K-8th grade it was very strict rules regarding unwed people and divorce. But over the years it has gotten more lenient especially with the new pope. I also went to lutheran schools for a few years and noticed they were not as strict on it. But I will say, catholicism is a lot of "if you go to confession and repent, you will be saved." I remember thinking that was a very bizarre guideline to admission to heaven lol, but I believe thats why we have "catholic guilt" lol. Purgatory is a can of worms I wouldn't even dive into if I were you lol

Regarding the bird feeder. So fun, everyone should do this! Here in the UK though (and I guess it’s the same in the US) there are tree-feeding birds and ground-feeding birds. For example, you don’t find blackbirds on bird feeders. The fallen seeds usually are swept up by the ground feeders and other outdoor wildlife. Also they sell different blends for ground feeders and their preferences. If the birds are enjoying the nuts the most then they might go wild for sunflower hearts/peanuts, mealworms or even suet balls (but as a rule, suet balls are usually a winter thing). My mum throws the birds a buffet every morning with grated cheese, apple slices etc. She left the fallen seeds for the ground feeders and accidentally grew cannabis/hemp in the garden without realising what it was 😂

Edit: Now that I've watched I feel even more uncomfortable. The things they're saying to strangers is really crossing a line. I'm not saying they're doing anything that's like illegal or wrong exactly, I just see how they're kind of preaching to strangers about this super personal thing.
