I think this is one of those songs where it has a million ways of interpreting it. For me it's like he is out of place, in 'uncharted waters' so to speak. That accent is the Aussie shining bright from within 😂😂

I interpreted the lyrics "I feel like an astronaut in the ocean" as something like, "I'm out of my element but I'm still surviving", given that you can survive in water with an astronaut suit on.

Astronaut in the ocean is a metaphor of not being where you wanna be in life and you feel like you dont belong, like an astronaut is supposed to be in space but he is in the ocean instead.
