Came for the Q2, but loved the travel vlog. What a fun video.
Went to Iceland in 2007, looking forward to going back. Iceland air recently added flights from my city.
Absolutely loved this homie!
Thanks Tobis! Wonderful work. Very enjoyable
Thanks! Much appreciated :)
Gorgeous blue color that Leica Q2 renders, just fascinating.
I can't wait to visit Iceland.
Thanks for sharing your [amazing] images.
Thanks! Can't wait to go back there myself ;)
As a fellow Leica Q user I would highly recommend getting a small travel tripod .This expands the possibilities of the Q still especially for landscapes or longer exposures. Seems like a bit of missed opportunity there seeing all this waterfalls and drifting snow and fog. Also it enables you to stop down a bit further increasing depth of field and overall image quality while keeping iso values low. Otherwise thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for the recommendations. I did bring a small Manfrotto Action Compact, but it was to unstable with its fragile legs for those high icelandic winds and gusts. Any recommendations for a good tripod to replace it with that doesn't break the bank? I have an eye on peak designs travel tripod but I don't know if I can justify spending on a tripod because I am not sure how often I would end up using it. I am open to the idea though
Thanks for watching! :)
@@TobisTings I am using a Joby Gorilla Pod for the Q. I wouldn’t mount a DSLR on it but for the Q it’s totally fine. Just make sure not to get a cheap Chinese copy. They don’t work as well. I had the Q mounted to skyscrapers in HKG with it or to tree branches in stormy conditions in Lapland. No issues.
@@TobisTings it seems we have a similar travel through camera hardware. You jump from Canon to Fuji, I jump from Nikon big Slrs to Fujî too (xt-2 for me) and I don’t regret. I am also looking deeply to the q2 to have one camera I can bring everywhere without changing the lens :). I agree that you need a small travelling tripod and believe me the peak design (no need to take the carbon one) is awesome !!! I love it and can t go outside without it:). You can buy it eyes shut you won regret it and I am sure it will look nicely withe the Q2 above it :)
As a fellow Q2 shooter, I'm always interested in where and what other Q2 users are finding to be of interest. New York is always ripe with possibilities, but I gather, based on the relative length of your New York and Iceland videos, that you found winter in Iceland a much richer opportunity. The Iceland video certainly whetted my appetite for a winter visit. Your videos and images in freezing Iceland dfinitely look more spectacular than my experiences there during more temperate seasons. I'm already contemplating a return to Iceland next January or February. Many thanks!
First of all, thanks for watching! And yeah, you are right. I did enjoy using my camera more in Iceland than I did in NYC - even though I also had a great time there. I would love to know what Iceland is like in the summer. Winter was great and it felt like a different planet. Can't recommend it enough :)
Nice video as always! Would you mind telling me what the backpack you have is ? It looks gorgeous and simple
Love it, man
Thanks man!
Glad you liked iceland dispite the weather. February as been unusualy bad, with record number of weather warnings for february month. Vertu velkominn aftur 🇮🇸
Thanks, I love every second of it and can't wait to go back to Iceland. But its still a relieve to hear that you don't get this many serious weather alerts all the time ;)
Gorgeous shooting!
Thanks, means a lot to me!
What a wonderful adventure! Such beautiful photos. May I ask what backpack/camera bag were you using? Thanks for your post.
It seems you like pictures , cute fiancée and good street food … just like me :). I like your videos and the way you make them. I like the Q2 too ( I dream to have shortly in by photo bag…) so I subscribe !
Thank you for the wonderful video! What camera gear did you use for the video used in your story? Just subscribed!
How did you protect the camera bringing it back inside after such cold temperatures outside ?
Hi Tobis! Question for you - How do you pack this for travel? I have it wrapped in the leather travel cloth in my backpack, and it just doesn't seem like a very good plan 😂
Thank you for posting this. I currently have a Fuji X100V and am very interested in the Leica Q2. I want to love the X100V more, but the autofocus is pretty garbage, and the noise of the cropped sensor is just a bit too much. Thanks for posting this!
Autofocus on the Q2 is worse than the x100v. I’ve had both.
Thanks for your great video and photos from Iceland. As I recently got the Q2 too, can you please let me know, what the temperature was in Iceland. Thanks!
Thanks! Air temperatures ranged mostly from 0 down to minus 10 degrees Celsius. That does however not include the wind chill factor, which was intense with wind speeds often reaching 40-80kph.
nice reporting skills there, my friend :-D
Hallo Tobis , man you love your bags , another different bag in this video with the Q2 is that a Hadley small pro ??
Yes, good catch! I took the Hadley small pro mostly as hand luggage to take with me on the plane in addition to my Compagnon Element Backpack. Its a wonderful little bag and I've used it a ton last summer/fall.
Have you tried the Blue Lagoon?
Did u take the video with the Leica q2 as well ???
гарно, я вже продав сони і хочу leica q3
How does it compare to your X100V experience?
Its better in a lot of ways, but also worse in others... its complicated. I am working on an update video where I will talk about where or not it was worth the upgrade. Should be out within the next few weeks.
@@TobisTings I'm looking forward to seeing that video ;-)
I’m debating both systems also. Would like to hear your opinion.
Einfach meine Schule im Hintergrund
Firstly, I like your video but you need to show more of the photos and less of your face talking. Some of the photos were on the screen for only a second!
Secondly, whilst it worked out well this time, if you’d have had an accident, what would you have done? Other people would have had to risk their lives in order to come and rescue you.
Thanks man and yes you are right. In my defense though, for the day we went on our longer drive down the south coast we didn't get any severe weather warning and we consulted with locals who are working at the hotel we stayed and checked the short term weather forcast to find out if we are good to go - and everyone said it should be alright if we drive slow and safe (wich we did). We wouldn't have gone out if we had gotten another warning message or different feedback from the people we spoke to.
Regarding the more photos less face situation - thanks for the feedback, truly appreciate it. Its sometimes hard to judge when I am editing the videos if I show photos for too long or not long enough. I am still trying to figure this all out, so again, appreciate your honesty.
@@TobisTings Thanks for your reply. I meant the photos comment in a positive way; some of the photos in the review were really really good, but I had to rewind the video and pause it to truly look at them!

Hmm I find 28mm too wide in most situations. And there is too much distortion most “enthusiasts” don’t seem to notice. Well- built and tempting but not good enough.
I think if you looked closely you would see that distortion on this lens is absolutely minimal if at all. Leica make exception glass.
There’s more to making great images (and experiences) than worrying about lens distortion.
