And what would those cameras be for someone that wants something versatile (the do all well camera) to take amazing pictures of family memories? Something relatively lightweight?
#1 reason…Leica has deep influencer pockets. It’s so interesting how so many influencers hit their channels to speak on this camera within weeks of each other
I agree but at the same time, as someone who bought a Leica just before this trend began… I get it. Honestly though, I find it weird hearing these guys plug it now because tbh when I first got into this stuff heavily in 2015, I went out and bought stuff on their influence and the Leica stuff was something I had to discover myself through other professionals I was around personally and seeing what they were producing rather than it being marketed to me, so idk, I feel like these plugs almost take away that enjoyment; it becomes less about the individual experience which Leica prides themselves on, with keeping the film camera feel etc. even in digital and just turns it into another commercial product in the pile.
The honest truth is I find these guys just love to flex how much money they got. Matti doesn’t even know why the images look so nice… it’s cause of the legendary Leica glass!
It seems Leica is like the Rolex of cameras. A lot of people seem to buy them because they can afford Leica, they like the brand image and want to associate themselves with it. From a design and technology stand point they are incredible but financial constraints will limit who owns a Leica more than passion for photography. There are a lot of talented people who’s best work won’t be shot on a Leica.
I got an original Q for 1/3 of the price. Same lens sala body only a 24mp sensor and not weather resistant. Still 1/3 of the price and I love it. That lens is incredible.
@@joao.s.cardosowas looking for someone to ask this to…is the lens comparatively sharper than say a G master lens from Sony or an RF Lens from Canon? 🤔
@@2011troya i had a 100-400 GM from Sony but not recent glass from Canon. It’s different I believe. The GM lens from sony are amazing. But the fact that you can shoot straight at the sun with no flare with the summilux, and from f1.7 to f16 without having to worry about refraction sets these apart from everyone else. If all you care about is sharpness then most hight end lens from any brand are really good. Still this summilux… there is something different about it.
Obviously, Fuji x100v is great, but film is special and I’d choose a Leica and Fuji film over the digital because it forces you to be more deliberate. Digital iterations are cool and made for a seamless process. But some of my favorite cameras include contax g and rolleflex. I’ve spent so much on cameras and equipment, and my Leicas are well use, my m6 is used for than my m11, and the m11 is far better than the camera in this video. But the cameras I use the most are a canon 1d, a Sony a7r5, Fuji x100v, and my iPhone 14 pro. My favorite cameras to use are the Leica m6, the contax g, and the rolleflex. So it’s definitely a passion for me and I don’t think anyone is restricted by a price, they can always rent it and get what they need for much cheaper. But the quality is there and the experience of using such a camera is exciting. Lenses are much more important, such as Carl zeiss, which I have many of. But since most photography these days is digital, even film transferred to digital, editing the photos extremely to the point it’s nowhere near what you see in real life, that’s what sucks. A good camera and good lens needs no editing, a good camera and editing needs no fancy lens, good editing and lens can make cheap cameras seem better. I’d say, this is why genuine film is the best because the developing process is much more tedious and has room for editing photos in a unique way. Nobody needs a lot, just a cheap camera can be used without any fancy lens, like even .3 mp and the one who takes the photo uses their eye to capture wonderful moments. I’m annoyed by those who think they can just disturb reality and make everything artificial just for a photo, but in some application, it’s a cool thing. The best pics are truly organic and it’s done by not inserting yourself into the chaos, but observing as a sovereign entity.
I have the X100V, same sort of thing as this camera. I absolutely love it, it's incredible. I honestly can't see how the Leica could be worth the extra over the Fujifilm, unless you have so much money that the price difference is completely insignificant.
Started with an X100V, then discovered Leica with the Q2. It definitely worth the price and is way better than the X100V (which is a very good camera btw). Full frame + lens + Leica color science make it unique. I tried to move to the SL2-S to be able to change the lenses, but never got the results and feelings I got with the Q2. This camera is unique.
@@iamrichlol Yes, the Q. But honestly: Don't get fooled, I have two Leicas (M10 and Q) and still bought the X100V. Too many people are romancing a lot with the Leicas but they are not the holy grail as people want to make them …
This Matti guy brags like a liar. Nobody is buying this camera. 95% of people cannot afford this camera. You can actually buy a RED Komodo 6k for $6000.
Photography is only a hobby of mine so I rock the fujifilm x100v. I won’t lie, I would have loved a leica but it was out of my budget. Maybe one day. But if anyones looking for a solid small compact point and shoot, try out the x100v:) much more affordable and still gives you that exciting feeling to go out and take photos!
I second this recommendation - I just bought an X100V and really enjoy it. I’ve shot professionally for years, and this Fuji is making me fall in love with photography all over again.
This feels like viral marketing. Either way, I returned my Q2 after 2 weeks of use. The image quality was no better than my Fuji X100V and the Leica is just downright uncomfortable to shoot without needing to death grip the lens with your left hand. I put the money towards an X1D II, which I traded for a GFX 100S, and then traded that camera recently for an X-T5. Now that is a camera that’s truly a joy to shoot with in every aspect. Can’t recommend it enough!
Viral marketing and more like cunning trickery to influence audience to shell out more money that they don't have. Influencers like these should be purged on 4th of july!!
I use to carry so much gear with me and sold all of it for the q2. So worth it. Now I just carry the q2, griii and the DJI 3 pro. It’s the lightest thing ever!
I had the pleasure of using the Leica Q2 and it is solid, the lens is probably the best part of the package. Definitely fun to use and love the shutter action. I personally prefer an interchangeable lens setup. For a lightweight, travel friendly and great quality results I love the Sony A7C + 24mm 1.4 GM. ($2900 setup w/ amazing results and portability) or paired with the Sony 28mm f/2 ($2000 setup and super compact and lightweight). Another more budget friendly fixed lens option would be the FUJIFILM X100V ($1400). Nevertheless, Leica users do not choose Leica's for practicality, there are several other factors at play. Enjoy whatever gear you have!
I own the Q2 and the canon 1dx2. The dynamic range on this Q2 is superior. I’ve tested them side by side. It is the CLOSEST image in terms of quality to my RED cinema camera which I use for video. That’s why I love it. Looks filmic. Doesn’t clip easily. Shadow detail. Worth every penny. It is not a camera for studio work IMO, as it’s a fixed wide angle lens and this focal length is not ideal for faces unless you want that distortion effect. It’s perfect for what it is. Point n shoot. Daily lifestyle. Moments. Leica is king.
The image is what blows my mind more than anything else. I also really love that the design is minimal but very high quality. But again the images. Every single image I see out of this camera just baffles me with how good it looks
It is a great camera, just sold a Leica Q. It is mostly a matter of form factor. I like the rendering and the size, It is also great that its almost silent. I bought a A7C with FE24mm 1.4, expected some regret but It is honestly a better ”camera” in every way including rendering but it is bigger and lack mechanical shutter. The Leica Q/Q2 is a very convenient camera but honestly I think it is a bit overrated, loved it while I had it but I would pick A7C + 24mm 1.4 every time If I got the choice. I would love to have a Leica Q2 though:)
I don’t mind fixed lens, but 28mm for me is a deal breaker. 35mm would be a lot better, it’s the standard street photography lens, 28 just have always a bit too much space. And really for me I would much rather be stuck with a 50mm if I can’t change the lens. Sure there’s some cases where you can’t take photo, but the rest of the time you’ll have much better photos. It also force you to move. I use my 50mm like most people use a 24-70, and trust me… i take a lot of amazing photos :) for group photos indoor would be the challenge 🤪 but not really a problem for artistic photos
The fact that it is fixed at all is the real deal breaker, there is no realistic way to make everyone happy, pretty soon they will sell lens adapters your can attach to get a farther mm and at that point you might as well have bought a new mirrorless or gone with the rx100 vii for much cheaper. That being said I think 28mm was a fine focal length to settle on.
I have to say that 28mm used to be my least used focal length. Wide but not wide enough. Much preferred the 24mm focal length. Tried several compact cameras with fixed 28mm lenses (Fuji and Ricoh) and didn’t really gel. Then, last ditch attempt, got a used Q and it was a revelation. Now own Q2 and it’s my go to camera. The one I reach for before my SL2 or my R5.
Fujifilm is not boring, but I agree that everything else feels the same nowadays. Don't really see anything that my X-T4 + 23mm f/1.4 R LM WR can't do, the end result looks and feels kinda the same, but you still have to edit the photos as there are no recipes. Also, Leica costs almost 3 times more.
Rocking a Leica M3 for daily documentation. Love it sooooo much!!!! A 60 year old camera, does all I need for daily, fun, inspiring, and most of all, gosh it looks amazing!!!
This camera strips it down to a minimalist pure experience for me. Stunning build quality. Not as capable for fast run and gun stuff (where I mostly use Canon). Used intentionally, it becomes about way more than photos.
I got Panasonic GX85 with Panasonic Leica 15mm F1.7 Summilux. I treat it as point and shoot. This lens is glued to it. Unbelievably good combo for around $700 if buying used. Very underrated and overlooked. Love this combo. Hopefully I can afford Leica one day.
Leica Q2 is amazing - but you can get the same feeling, the same joy, the same creative improvements from its constraints with a $1,500 X100V (If you can find one and you’re budget doesn’t allow for a $6,000 camera)
I bought a q1 a few months ago, main differences being half of the megapixels and no weather sealing whereas the q2 does, but it was 2k direct from Leica Manchester with a 1yr warranty. Save some coin and start with a q1! U less you can afford to shell out 6k
I agree with most of what you said about the Q being to create quick quality images. But if you really want to learn the right way start with 35mm film, if you want easy and quick buy an iPhone, if you're in the middle, buy a full frame dslr with decent features. You'll safe a ton of money over this Q.
If you don’t have the money for this type of camera from Leica, but still want to have the same sort of photography experience, the Fujifilm X100V it’s an amazing Option! Amazing Video!
For anyone with the money, it's a no brainer. And it's not only about the 6k, it's also about the price of a single battery (150$), a charger (145$) or a camera strap in the official store. you have to be ready to spend A LOT of cash not only at purchase but also after that you'll be paying extra every single time. For the rest of us who have to invest carefully, probably the better option is the X100V, XE4 + some lens, Ricoh etc…
An X-T5 with the XF33 F1.4 or the second gen XF 56 f1.2 would be an excellent alternative and still half the price. I’m a bit biased though. Just got my X-T5 and I’m still in the honeymoon phase. Flawless so far though!
I have the X100V and I honestly can't see how the Leica could be worth the extra over the Fujifilm, unless you have so much money that the price difference is completely insignificant
That reason #4 is that Peter has one. That being said, I have had mine for a little over a year, and I take it everywhere. And my Canons come out less often. Looking forward to what the Q3 will offer. Enjoy!
That illusive “Leica Look” is just so magical and unique. I recently was finally able to get a used Q at a good price, and it’s everything I dreamed it would be! 📷🔴
This is by far the most beautiful camera money can buy. I’m happy for Leica that they have this success with this camera. They should just build an S-Q1 with the same form factor that uses L-Mount glass.
I love waiting to get my images back. I hardly EVER go back to look at my digital photos. But when I get my film back… I get to be reminded of the moment I snapped that photo.
Mate, at the moment I’d say the X100v is the most popular fixed lens point and shoot. It looks and feels different and is nearly 5k cheaper if you can find one in stock
If you can’t afford the Leica Q2 (like me) I highly recommend the Fujifilm x100v. Trust me, they can battle it out. A lot of the Leica photographers post iPhone quality photos after all the contrast and grain anyway, so trust me.
Completely agree. It is only worth the price you pay and the value it brings to you. Every camera has a ‘look’ - Fujifilm for example have excelled and capitalised on that aspect but they sell their kit for a damn sight less than Leica thank goodness. Never had the urge to buy a Leica as I’m extremely happy with Fuji AND I love the shooting experience as it encourages me to go out and shoot as it is an exceptional tool. But I do understand that there are people who lean towards the Leica look as that is what they prefer. Each to their own. We are all different and, in the majority of cases, not sheep.
I read through most of the comments - and yes, the title is going to irrigate people, so not everyone is buying, but in the case of everyone who can justify buying a 6000 camera for family photos GOOD for you! YOU WORKED HARD! you give back, you teach people to become better versions of themselves! Just now people are so sensitive to Christmas time high prices everywhere... people are just angry nowadays as people are starving etc, families dying
If you're addicted, take the Q1 in used, costs the half and has the same awesome feeling. loving my Q-P. Still awesome in 2022 and the especially the Q-P ist pretty awesome. :D I never was a Leica fanboy and yes, a little bit overpriced, but the joy of shooting comes back into my hands like Matti describes.
I just recently was finally able to afford a used Q1 that I found a good deal on after selling off some other gear. It’s as much of a dream as I had hoped it would be, and don’t feel like it’s even a little bit outdated in 2022. Q2 is awesome, but I’m so happy with my Q1! 📷🔴🤙🏽
What unblocked my creative flow recently was when I finally figured out how to use Lightroom/Lightroom Classic and Adobe Cloud together. Now I can easily take photos everywhere and edit them on my phone, and everything is then backed up on my NAS. Having a good workflow is key to take photos.
For anyone interested in a Q2, do not buy new… they’re going for $4k on the secondhand market. Feels like an incredible camera, and shoots like a good camera depending on your situation. Not the best in low light, but in sunny lit situations it’s a beast honestly. The 35 and 50mm frame lines are amazing too. Set it to those, and in post you can crop to your desired focal length. I’d do the Q over the Q2 though.. colors edit closer to film than the Q2. Overall though, Leica colors > anyone else 🙌🏼
Like the kid with the $50 lemonade stand said, "Yes it's expensive but I only need to sell one!"😉 The pictures look great because Matti and Peter are the ones taking and editing the pictures. Leica is to digital photography exactly what it was to film photography; a status symbol. Just like a Rolex watch. Want a retro styled compact camera that's worth the money? Look at the Olympus PEN-F... if you can find one!
This video pushed the Leica so hard. For those normal humans who don’t want to overpay for a red dot, a Fujifilm XT-4 will also give you the analog camera feeling.
I find this brand name overhyped!. When you listen to famous street photographer like Henry Cartier Bresson interviews, he states that he liked the Leica M at the time because of its ease of use with the technology of the time but if he was alive today he probably would use a Ricoh GRIII. Even the Early Film Leica, the films were very difficult to load, and they are very unpractical to use. They are certainly beautifully design with this distinguished industrial design! But not practical!. Unfortunately influencers, and advertisers makes you fall in love with the camera more than the resulting picture. Imagine looking at a Rambrant painting and worrying about the brand name of the brushes and oils paint the artist used? I Give Leica my congratulation on how successful they are though!.
if there's a camera that everybody is buying that would be the x100v and yes the hype is real. it is a little beast !! it's literally sold out all over the world.
@@michaelm.1947it's not in stock on amazon Japan either. you can only buy it "used" from a third party seller and there's only 1 camera available. when B&H doesn't have a camera in stock for a month you know what time it is. I have many European friends who have been trying to get this camera for months and can't find any. even if you try and buy it secondhand, prices are crazy high because of the shortage.
@@silverdar Not sure which Amazon Japan you're looking at, but it comes right up for me and there are 3 different shops selling new units. ¥410,260-¥533,725 and free delivery by Dec. 12th-17th (to my address). Maybe some shops bought up stock and are selling them at a premium. That doesn't mean they're used - just means they're doing what just about every other company on Amazon does. The prices do seem stupidly high, but units are available here. One push of the Buy Now button and you could own several of them.
The Leica Q or any Leica is a unique camera. I am not owning one yet, but a Leica is on the way. The colour science of Leica is fabulous, like it is with Fujifilm or any other camera. This lens/sensor combo is trimmed to perfection - look at the Fujifilm X100 series and how their prices skyrocketed at the moment. However the story is more important than the quality (reproduction) of the image. However, I need to say something that really distorts the impression. Why putting film frames around a digital images? It has not been analogue? Then you should have shot film in the first place. A digital image without those film borders look quite boring but digital photography is boring because you can instantly see what you have done. Film retains secrets and surprises.
Welcome to the Leica wormhole. I got started with the Leica XU (which is an INCREDIBLE CAMERA) as my side "fun" camera. I took a trip to Iceland using the Leica XU and the Sony A7rii (which was the best Sony at the time). The Sony was my main camera with a lot of great glass etc. When I came home, most of my favorite shots were with the XU, a vastly inferior camera to the Leica XU on paper (well except for the Sumilux lens which might be one of the greatest lenses of all time). I was hooked and sold my Sony first for the Q2, then added the SL2 with an SL Summicron 35 & 75. The only downside is I can't imagine a better camera. My SL2 is my favorite camera of all time. It is a joy to use, and wow, have the images been great. I now have a major exhibit here in Miami at our main performing arts institution, and I think switching to Leica had something to do with that. Final thought it's only a matter of time until you get your hands on an SL2 which you will love.
I got the Q2 when it came out on its release date at 5k, but I had to wait months for it to arrive. It’s the one camera that drove me to dive deeper into photography.
Yeah... this is a pretty decent , no bullshit review of this camera. I shoot the reporter version, largely because I feel a little self conscious flashing that red dot which , doesn't seem to be a problem for most buyers. I also shoot a Fuji X 100V . The feel of the Fuji in my hand doesn't offer the same, feels like I'm holding a Porsche, sensual appeal, as the Leica but it does punch way above its weight and certainly way above its price. The Fuji also offers a 35mm full frame perspective, as opposed to the Q2's claimed 28mm view which in reality, it actually wider. This makes the Fuji a little better for portraits than the Leica. If I had to choose between the two, it would be difficult but I would likely land on the X100V. At today's listed price for the two cameras, you can buy 4 Fujis for the price of the Leica. Suddenly , dropping the Fuji doesn't seem quite so dramatic .
$6,000.00 is a deal! Normally, that lens is six grand alone so having a free camera is a bargain. I want one! 😭 it’s probably the cheapest way to experience M.
@@iKIMshuffle Shooting an M fundamentally has not changed since its inception being a rangefinder camera, although newer models i.e. M240 onwards have a modern interface and menu system, they also offer more metering modes than the traditional center weighted metering an M is known for (or no metering). The Q2 on the other hand is essentially like any mirrorless camera with EVF, Auto Focus, etc. More or less like an SL in a rangefinder-esque body. I think the Q series was a masterstroke from Leica, it clearly takes its inspiration from the M given its form factor but is very much a sophisticated and modern camera. I would love to get my hands on a Q2 reporter.
@@alexauga I’m beginning to regret SL because I know for a fact I won’t be able to buy any more lens in a while after getting the staple 24-70 and even as the cheapest Leica lens it’s still over $3,000.00. I was going to get the SL2-s reporter but I wanted an SL the same day so, I didn’t wait. Week after, freaking reporter came out. I was so pissed. But now, I wish I opt for the Q because I really don’t have anything to shoot nor a business. I don’t need the flexibility of SL. The fixed lens is the closest thing I can get to the M lenses.
@@alexauga and shooting an M, even old ones, is something I haven’t experienced. It just recently where I’m able to afford anything Leica so, definitely has no past experience.
I must start off, I still shoot Sony but I just got a Fuji X-H2 setup. I am loving the colour science coming out of it. So, I get why people would be buying Leica cameras for there beautiful look. Enjoy the camera bud. Oh, the other reason I went Fuji, I am wanting to go medium format but want to wait a generation.
Leica makes an awesome camera but if you really want a Leica style camera for almost 5 times less, what about the Fuji X100v. Granted, it has an APSC sensor but it’s an incredibly popular camera for basically the same reason as the Leica. That said, would I pick up a Q2 if I could? Absolutely!
The price affects everything else. If they would’ve priced it competitively it would be incredibly average. But because it’s priced so high you automatically like it more for intangible reasons. It’s like drinking and expensive wine vs a cheap one. You’ll only say the expensive one tastes better when you hear the price.
Matti, you too!! LOL. Great choice. I also fell for the Q2, but wanted it to be quite different from my other camera, so went with the Monochrom version as I shoot mostly B&W. Love it!!
I love my q2. It’s not the only camera in the equipment bag…but it’s the one that I enjoy using the most. It will never be used to photograph birds in flight or fast action sports (no phase detection capability), but oh boy, Landscapes, Street, night photography, it can’t be beat..the full frame resolution capability allows so many crop options in post-.edit when shooting RAW (in camera crop @35, 50, 75 when shooting Jpeg. The 28 mm Summilux 1:1.7 is a dream. I thought it would be difficult to get use to 28mm. Not so! AF is sweet! But shooting MF is sweeter! And the MACRO feature is really nice! Another great feature is how the MENU is designed…so logical and intuitive!
So glad to see more and more people finally coming around to realize that the intention that goes into creating a product matters. And the output of that intention is high build quality as well as incredible user experience. People shrug that off too often and I've never understood why. Because when something is built well, it comes through for the user and it unlocks creativity that we don't expect it to unlock.
you maybe right but this looks like hype hype and more hype... for example a Canon r5 is a fabulous piece of engineering beutiful to hold and use and produces incredible images this whole Leica hype is similar to what happens with watches you can pay 200000 for a watch sure an incredible piece of engineering/art but ulimately who cares? well mainly very rich people who dont know what to do with their money and like to impress thier rich friends !
@@tonijones2187 there definitely is a hype train happening but there’s always a hype train happening. Like there’s also one for the X100V right now, or there’s been one for the Leica M6 for a while. Or there was that hype train for “gear matters” all of a sudden last year
Seriously? Most of the people buying the Q2 probably aren't very good photographers and the Q2 isn't going to magically make them into good photographers. People are buying them because it's the hip thing to do right now and they want to be seen with the Leica.
I understand the point of the Q2 and it’s an incredible camera. I own a Leica M11 and I know it’s way more expensive but having the ability to change lenses is an option I prefer having and it gives me the choice to have a fixed focal length if I really want to but more importantly because I’m able to swap lenses which btw… M-Mount lenses are tiny as well as not to mention the camera’s form factor being generally small, they also have extremely low apertures and the combination allows me to take it into areas professional cameras normally aren’t allowed, like concerts, mainly cause they don’t event realise it’s professional, they just assume it’s a cheap film camera (don’t at me, there’s beautiful film cameras. I love film, it’s not a diss, just saying they’re ignorant) but it’s meant I’ve got to take incredible photos of bands I haven’t been able to get media passes for; photos that I’m going to be totally honest are better than any other cameras I’ve had, owned or used, Canon, Fuji, Sony, Nikon… the only camera I’ve handled that’s held a candle to it is a Hasselblad… I know it snobbish sounding but I just gotta be real because I’ve handled a ton of cameras and it’s just the truth… from resolutions, to colours, to sharpness and bokeh fall off and for a camera that isn’t meant to perform well in lowlight… gotta be honest again, I’ve done concert shoots where I’m in the pit, it’s lowlight and I’m literally right in front of the artist and still it’s out performed the other cameras. Most recently I shot Wallows during their Australian tour and I got home and started editing and I couldn’t figure out why this one photo was so much easier to edit and as a whole had more detail and less grain but I thought it was off my Canon R5 like the rest… until I realised it was a DNG file off the Leica… sooo yeah… it makes me want another one but MONEEEEEHHHH! But tbr… if there was a camera that had everything from the M11 with autofocus and video capabilities of the others… well I think I’d have the perfect camera and I mean the closest would be the SL2 or SL2-S but yeah… maybe one day I’ll get one of those once I can afford it, an M11 is a big ask as is, so hopefully or maybe that insane dream camera will come along but yeah… if you’re cool with the fixed focal length go Q2, if you want the options, hold off, save and get an M11 or even the predecessors like the M10 or if you’re willing to go film, try the M6 or the others out there! But can’t recommend… also am I Leica snob now? Am I? I’m just being honest from my personal experience but like Matti said… don’t get as a first camera… waited a decade practically before investing in one!
It’s a rich persons camera here in Australia it’s just shy of 10 grand which is absolutely ludicrous. Literally many cheaper options that do the same thing don’t buy into the hype people
I recently got a good enough deal on a used Q to finally be able to purchase after selling off some other gear, and it’s everything I dreamed it would be. Highly recommend! 📷🔴
@@TheGroovyGuitarDude I just upgraded my kit in August for my birthday. I'm positive my wife won't clear another for a year or two 🤣🤣 Got to get this RUclips channel up and running. Make a few bucks and see.
@@TheGroovyGuitarDude Same. I did what everybody else does and watched every single video I could come across on them, and realized that finding a good deal on a Q was absolutely a reasonable goal to achieve. I didn’t just jump on the first one I found, I watched them for about 2 months and finally found the perfect one at a super price (seriously like new, the strap was still in it’s original package) from a guy that was equally excited that the camera was going to a good home.
Let's be honest, comparing the raw files and the image quality (both RAW and edited), the images are identical. I had the chance to compare Q2, M11, and Sony a7RIV/a7IV, and no chance someone can spot real differences between the cameras. The color science is the same, what change is just maybe the quality of the lens but here depends on which lenses are you using. So to conclude this very short and brutal comparison, $6000 for a camera like this isn't justified at all. You definitely can't work with that. Let's say is a good toy for reach people.
Now Matti, try to understand someone like me, who is trying to buy it for years, and can't because off course before you look for some horsework, even if it is really not a "point and shoot camera ;)" Anyway now, even if could buy it I wont, simply because you BIG guys made it a trend,. Like one year ago if i had buy it i would have been consider a cool guy, now if i buy it i'd be just a fanboy :D
I've had many cameras. The Fuji X100 series is beautiful and takes great photos. The Leica is soo expensive but honestly, it's worth the cost. If you can't get a Fuji, if you can get the Q!
This is the camera you get when you make it as a professional photographer as a trophy. Its something you wouldn't use professionally on a job, so it make snapshots fun again not lugging around your workhorse camera feeling like you re working. Thats my take lol.
Just recently sold my Q2 for the XT5 with a f1.4 lens plus more than a grand to spare 😇 The Q2 is an amazing camera though, for people who want to shoot daily or travel photos without the hassle of buying and swapping lenses, it’s a no-brainer if you have the budget. That said, even after the firmware update I still find the need to pull out the RAW files for almost every photo, which isn’t a great experience when I’m just traveling and documenting daily life and the main reason why I went Fuji instead. But the Q2 is a dream to hold and shoot with, for those who have the budget I highly recommend buying a secondhand Q2 in good condition to try it out 😊
just shamelessly says he spent 6000$ to be more excited about taking photos, woof. imagine never having to live in the real world for even a second. must be amazing.
First of all, I didn't know this channel was a sell out, thanks but I'll rather buy a "boring" camera like a Lumix S5ii, Canon r5 or Sony AS7iii And second, why is throwing names of people that no one has an idea who they are 🤣🤣
DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA AS YOUR FIRST AND ONLY CAMERA 😂 Its incredible but there are better ways to spend your first moneys 🙏🏻
It’s so tempting
Totally agree, There are way better than this for My 1st camera 📷
And what would those cameras be for someone that wants something versatile (the do all well camera) to take amazing pictures of family memories? Something relatively lightweight?
Buy the Q nt Q2
Bought it as my second and only camera😅 sold Sony a7iii and 3 lenses to afford it
#1 reason…Leica has deep influencer pockets. It’s so interesting how so many influencers hit their channels to speak on this camera within weeks of each other
Definitely. The Q2 released in 2019 so the fact that everyone is just putting out videos now is suspect.
Yeah they must have a new marketing manager that understands youtube influencer potential to drive sales.
They should mention if the Brands are paying to make videos. Else it's very Dishonest!!
You know "Having a Leica doesn't mean you become an excellent photographer, just that you are a Leica consumer"... said someone one day 😉
I got an original Q for 1/3 of the price.
@@hugodouchet is there anything between the two, in terms of cost and performance? an older leica model?>
Had both. Not the same 😀
Matti: "All cameras look the same"
Fuji: 😨🥶😭
Haha except for Fuji
I was thinking this 😂
I was thinking this exactly! Obviously not the same thing, but an X100V is a much more affordable alternative to the Q2 :)
Also the experience on the fuji line is incredible.
First thing I thought was "damn, that looks almost exactly like a Lumix GX9" with a slightly cleaner back
Photography is only a hobby of mine so I rock the fujifilm x100v.
All x100 models are wonderful, don't needa shell out even that much for a V
This feels like viral marketing. Either way, I returned my Q2 after 2 weeks of use. The image quality was no better than my Fuji X100V and the Leica is just downright uncomfortable to shoot without needing to death grip the lens with your left hand.
I put the money towards an X1D II, which I traded for a GFX 100S, and then traded that camera recently for an X-T5. Now that is a camera that’s truly a joy to shoot with in every aspect. Can’t recommend it enough!
Contemplating both the GFX100s and the X2D
Viral marketing and more like cunning trickery to influence audience to shell out more money that they don't have. Influencers like these should be purged on 4th of july!!
Why the T5 over the GFX?
@@CineGui Huh?
@@rockyBalboa6699 You're a dork.
I'll stick with my Fuji x100F (the ultimate holiday, walk-around camera for hipsters which is actually semi-affordable).
Would be interesting to see how the images look to you when you don’t know they came out of a Leitz Camera.
The Q3 is coming in 2023. I'm waiting for one, the Q2 is serving very well! The price doesn't matter after you start using it! It is beautiful!
Peter really is an influencer's influencer. Ever since he made the video I seen so many people buying into this.
This. Peter is your favorite influencer's favorite influencer.
Yes, They are all selling their left testicle to buy this Bomb of a camera!!
"Everyone is buying this" ....Matti hangs out with a different level of person than I do. haha
Title Edit: EVERYONE WHO IS WEALTHY is buying this camera. YOU’RE WELCOME!!!
I use my 50mm like most people use a 24-70, and trust me… i take a lot of amazing photos :) for group photos indoor would be the challenge 🤪 but not really a problem for artistic photos
use the 35mm crop mode on the q2, the sensor is 45mp, it doesn't affect much on the iq
Let’s face it, the $6000 price tag is the real deal breaker for all of us..
100%
Try it with the 7artisians 35 f1.2 manual lens. It’s not the perfect lens but does awesome in black and white
Leica Q2 is amazing - but you can get the same feeling, the same joy, the same creative improvements from its constraints with a $1,500 X100V (If you can find one and you’re budget doesn’t allow for a $6,000 camera)
But the feeling of handling the camera just isn’t the same, and the image quality is not as good imo (I used both of them so yeah
Nope, the Fuji is something totally different.
X100v is amazing, but it is it’s own thing. Both are wonderful cameras for different reasons.
@@frankwu1713 absolutely the image quality isn't the same, that's why I left it out of the statement I made.
I bought a q1 a few months ago, main differences being half of the megapixels and no weather sealing whereas the q2 does, but it was 2k direct from Leica Manchester with a 1yr warranty. Save some coin and start with a q1! U less you can afford to shell out 6k
I picked a used Q1 up for $2k from Adorama and have been SO happy with it. Everything I dreamed it would be!

Yes!!! You are definitely right! Ohmygaad! It’s trending right now that it’s backordered and jacked up.
Battery is $285
An X-T5 with the XF33 F1.4 or the second gen XF 56 f1.2 would be an excellent alternative and still half the price. I’m a bit biased though. Just got my X-T5 and I’m still in the honeymoon phase. Flawless so far though!
I have the X100V and I honestly can't see how the Leica could be worth the extra over the Fujifilm, unless you have so much money that the price difference is completely insignificant

@@ekim333 just looked it up, you're looking at the price for the Q battery, not the Q2.

They should just build an S-Q1 with the same form factor that uses L-Mount glass.

sheesh dude bangers only!!!! Air drop me every single one of these. Ima go stand outside your building. BRB

Peter, I need your boots!
Mate, at the moment I’d say the X100v is the most popular fixed lens point and shoot. It looks and feels different and is nearly 5k cheaper if you can find one in stock
My digital point-and-shoot EDC is a Leica C from 2012. Still works perfectly and produces great pics.
Fujifilm s cameras are different too and lots of fun to shoot with! But I love the Q2 Monochrome too!
"Everyone" and "$6000" don't go well together at all.
That said, the photos look amazing.
Yeah...Matti and I clearly run in difference circles.
I read through most of the comments - and yes, the title is going to irrigate people, so not everyone is buying, but in the case of everyone who can justify buying a 6000 camera for family photos GOOD for you! YOU WORKED HARD! you give back, you teach people to become better versions of themselves! Just now people are so sensitive to Christmas time high prices everywhere... people are just angry nowadays as people are starving etc, families dying
one of the best Leica Q2 promotion videos i have ever seen. Well spoken and great energy, thanks you for this! :)
@@TheGroovyGuitarDude awesome decision. Congrats and have fun with this beauty. No reason for the q2. 😀
Never selling my Q-P. Such a beast of an undercover stealth camera.
I shot products, portraits, and a wedding on my Q and it works. You just gotta think outside the box
What unblocked my creative flow recently was when I finally figured out how to use Lightroom/Lightroom Classic and Adobe Cloud together. Now I can easily take photos everywhere and edit them on my phone, and everything is then backed up on my NAS. Having a good workflow is key to take photos.
I love mine. No overhype, it’s true, and I think most people started to realize how great this camera is 3 years after it was launched.
You can also get the original Q for a 1/3 of the price. Nobody needs 60MP for casual holiday shooting haha
Lol probably right. But hey memories are the most important 😊
Matti… please do comparison between q2 and Fuji x100v? Major talking point.. and makes me want to save $4k.
Like the kid with the $50 lemonade stand said, "Yes it's expensive but I only need to sell one!"😉
The pictures look great because Matti and Peter are the ones taking and editing the pictures.
Leica is to digital photography exactly what it was to film photography; a status symbol. Just like a Rolex watch.
Want a retro styled compact camera that's worth the money? Look at the Olympus PEN-F... if you can find one!
100%. Like a Rolex versus the Apple Watch, they both tell time, but one tells everyone that you have plenty of money. And style.

I thought long and hard about buying a Q2. In the end, I bought a Sony A1 with 35mm GM. Same money, more versatile.
This video pushed the Leica so hard. For those normal humans who don’t want to overpay for a red dot, a Fujifilm XT-4 will also give you the analog camera feeling.
leica doenst need this channel or a push.
I’ll also add that I have a 28mm vintage lens that I crowned as my favorite. That focal length seems to be the perfect all-around versatile length.
On that scope it’s probably the fx3 or a7siii
"it's literally sold out all over the world."
Which world would that be? It's *literally* in stock on Amazon Japan.

“Everyone” - lol more like a handful of wealthy influencers buying this camera…
Basically that. I've only seen popular camera channels talking about this camera lol
A figurative "everyone". Many RUclipsrs live in a bit of a bubble.
He never showed photos taken with this camera
Honestly, for 6k I could buy a trip across Europe and a fujifilm x100v and probably still have money leftover.
Agree with you on price although I don't think the shooting experience is comparable to an M even though they share a very similar form factor.
@@alexauga that different, huh? I hope to experience an M one day. Right now, I need to at least have the skill to operate my SL.

But now, I wish I opt for the Q because I really don’t have anything to shoot nor a business. I don’t need the flexibility of SL. The fixed lens is the closest thing I can get to the M lenses.

"Every camera look the same" Really? Matti you are the one, who should know that lenses make a difference not a camera.
Absolutely!
Biggest problem is finding one and not spending double the price...
The q was originally designed to mimic the iPhone focal length. It’s something we subconsciously recognize as familiar but elevated.
Leica is laughing all the way to the bank. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
A 10 minute commercial...
Zactly.
I have the original Q back in 2017 and I love it since😂
So good! 🙌🏻
The price affects everything else. If they would’ve priced it competitively it would be incredibly average. But because it’s priced so high you automatically like it more for intangible reasons.
It’s like drinking and expensive wine vs a cheap one. You’ll only say the expensive one tastes better when you hear the price.
Everyone huh? Everyone who has 2k minimum monthly rent payments in this economy? Hell I can barely afford rent let alone 6k for a camera
Am i the only one who thinks this camera looks ugly? 🙊 Looks like a Playmobil toy camera or something 😅
Matti, you too!! LOL. Great choice. I also fell for the Q2, but wanted it to be quite different from my other camera, so went with the Monochrom version as I shoot mostly B&W. Love it!!
I recently sold off my X100V and XT3 and bought a Q2. The Q2 is everything I wanted it to be. Def not for everyone but it’s amazing!
Dream camera my friend!!!! 🤝
Seriously. I’m a believer
Literally many cheaper options that do the same thing don’t buy into the hype people
Something to keep working toward for sure. I'm probably going to have to buy my first Leica second hand but I'm sure it will still be life changing 🤣🤣
Reminds me of my old Lumix GF1 with the 20mm 1.7, that camera was so ahead of the game.
Because Peter McKinnon bought it...
The momentum builds
And I want one :)
Umm not everyone...
Rented it out right before Pete dropped his video about it & absolutely loved it. Now y'all together are going to make me actually buy it haha 🔥
I think i would go for a Hasselblad instead
Don’t tempt me.
@@mattih haha 😄
This is what happens when social media hype, meets hype beast flex.
I have been using mine professionally for a job for years. It all depends what kind of photographer you are
I've been using mine as my sole camera for weddings for almost a year. It's a beast.
Just recently sold my Q2 for the XT5 with a f1.4 lens plus more than a grand to spare 😇
The Q2 is an amazing camera though, for people who want to shoot daily or travel photos without the hassle of buying and swapping lenses, it’s a no-brainer if you have the budget.
My Q2 rekindled my love for photography. I want to take it everywhere. And that Leica look… 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
The colors, contrasts, dynamic range are out of this world… I can see loving that camera
well, any descent camera can do that too if you khow how to operate & tweak the RAW coming out of that
Dynamic range is not out of this world, it is not the best FF in DR even
First of all, I didn't know this channel was a sell out, thanks but I'll rather buy a "boring" camera like a Lumix S5ii, Canon r5 or Sony AS7iii
And second, why is throwing names of people that no one has an idea who they are 🤣🤣
It's actually cheap, a sumilux 28mm f1.7 as a lens cost alone 5000to6000dollars, so ur getting the body as a bonus 😂
Haha I like this perspective lol
