ALL THE ISSUES I've Had With My Infiniti Q50 Red Sport During 2 Year Ownership

  • What it was like to own a q50 Red Sport 400 for the first few months. This is solely my experience. Even going through what I've been through the first couple of months I still believe this car is reliable. Maybe even more so than my procharged GTO. I've owned the car since 2020 (issues happened in 2020) and I haven't had any issues now with my Infiniti q50 in 2022. I drive my car to and from the track with no problems.
    Overall, I am very happy I stuck around through the beginning. I couldn't be happier with my purchase of this car. My negative experience, in the beginning, was mainly due to bad dealership service.

    It's not always rainbows and unicorns. The beginning sucked real bad, but I'm glad I stuck it through. This car since then has been one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned. 20K miles tuned, driven to and from the track.

    I'm racebox 93 tuned 2 year 6 months. Bought my 2019 Signature edition 50 new. In the 3 years I've owned it everything has been great. There was a random rotation vibration at the front wheel that would come and go but over time that went away. I installed upgraded R1 rotors and ceramic pads so maybe that contributed in some way. I kept my catalytic converters on and I never bought into a JB4. I knew it was better to wait and get professionally tuned where the car would would be better for it. Messing with parts pretty much always reduces reliability so I stick to 93 octane though I did go AMS LPFP to help reduce bog with less than 1/2 tank.

    • @ZillaFullBoost
      @ZillaFullBoost  Год назад +1

      The Q’s are great cars. People only hear about the bad things because that’s the only time you hear people complain. Others judge the reliability on the small percentage of people that had issues. How about the other thousands of people having a great car?
      A good chance some of the “porous blocks” were really un-bled systems and blown turbos were really bad tuning, JB4 end user error or just characteristics of the stock turbos (Mine smoke since 0 miles). Take into account lack of maintenance and driver abuse. Yes, you may have a bad batch of cars from the factory, but again that’s a very small percentage out of the thousands on the road.
      I love the VR30 platform and I’m very happy it’s been able to handle everything I’ve thrown at it so far.

    Worked as a sunroof technician for contractor company (webasto) for infinity/Nissan plant in smyrna, TN for a few years and we were puzzled how the quality of these part and assembly could be so bad (especially the pillars) at one point we had to make a collaboration efforts between the quality manager, interior engineer and the technicians just to solve one issue. You would be surprised how many cars the dealer sent back to manufacturer to fix the shitty parts.

    i would imagine all the rear end problems is due to all the slop in the IRS cradle. even with the inserts, theres just too much much movement between the cradle and the toe links. you want SOME diff movement for NVH and also to absorb shock loads. if not, youll shatter the housing.

    People that complain about vr30s can't take the few extra steps to keep their car running a1

    • @ZillaFullBoost
      @ZillaFullBoost  Год назад +3

      That’s a fact. These motors literally only require a few extra tasks. AC compressor alignment, replace the belt as needed and monitor oil levels on stock turbos. Other than that it’s maintenance like any other car.
      Just gotta incorporate those things as maintenance for the VR30. Most of the people who complain about it blew their cars up from bad tuning or not monitoring oil and going 10k+ miles between oil changes. By that time you ran your motor dry and bearings decided to sign out 🫣

    • @ZillaFullBoost
      @ZillaFullBoost  Год назад +1

      Don’t take bullet proof literal lol. I don’t think anything is truly bullet proof. One platform I think is close to it is the coyote but even those break.
      VR30’s truly common issues are belts going out (AC compressor alignment fixes that).
      Stock turbos consume lots of oil (Upgrade or monitor oil frequently) if not monitored you will mess up your bearings.
      Everything else is not so common.
