    I think what Infiniti does is great. They keep it as a tuner platform. So people who know what they are doing can get in on a lower end and then whoever doesn’t want to bother just gets the Red Sport.

    But... if you want 400hp our of the factory without being paranoid of voiding warranty (I know I know you can pass inspection at sketchy places and your dealer might not care) then red sport is the choice. With the red sport you won’t have to go through any trouble trying to get more power as you would in the 300hp model. Boost I can tell it’s tough informing the audience, but you’re doing a great job doing that keep it up!👍

Like he says market is huge and the prices are very affordable and cheap. Im sure infinit can see all the things we do. From upgrading the in touch to adding power amd performance. Which i do believe with the "black" program is trying to accomplish, but only if the price point is right. Ebays market does have the best prices, but have gone up a little with the new state taxes now being on there, so alot of folks might use alibaba. I bought the 2019 signature addition. White with the black chrome 19" wheels. I hadn't done my research when i went to Infiniti to look where i saw this car with its dark premium grade window tint, the Infiniti logo pin striping and those black chrome, beautiful rims with the outside sports body package. I had to have it even though i hadn't researched much. At the time this was one of their first signature editions to hit their floor. There wasn't even much reporting on the internet about this car where it was just released at the new york auto show or some show not forsure.
    Love love the car. Makes me enjoy driving again. Things that i wish that this model had now that I'm somewhat more knowledgable with this car. The upgrade to the bose stereo is a definite have, tilt in electric side mirrors would be nice to have. Tilt down in reverse side mirrors beneficial to have also. Other stuff I'd elect to have is electric assisted opening and closing trunk would be a super cool feature, the electronic steering column adjusting for driver to get in and out helpful and those are the features id like to have and don't in the Sig Edit. Love the 360 cam view, front and rear camera with the top screen dedicated to these views/feature. Bottom screen for aircon, radio and features. Love it.
    Things i thought i wanted but don't need or never wanted. Electronic adj suspension could be cool but sort of lame (want more like magna ride), adaptive cruise control, 360 degree blind spot monitoring (have front camera for collision monitoring, memory seats not very important for me, memory mirrors and maybe the air cooled seats. My car stays incredibly cool in even the south Texas heat and my airconditioner acts like a freezer box). Jump in the car and it cools down nicely in 1 minute.
    Bad thing about infiniti or my model: runflat tires. I didn't like them. Replaced them with only a few 100 miles on car. Kept runflats for when i sell the car to get a new infiniti 21-22 model.
    Only thing i believe I'm missing out on is the extra 100hp of the Red Sport model but that can be added. If there's a way to keep the stock tune saved, upload the new 100hp tune but still revert back to stock tune at anytime then that's the only way I'll get the tune. My Cobb tuner Accessport V3 allowed this function.

      Thank you I love this comment

    • @GettingthruLife
      @GettingthruLife 5 лет назад

      @@BoostInMotion From what I'm guessing the ecutek software tuner/tune for the 3.0T when you upload this modified tune to your car then you erase/overwrite the stock tune. Only way to replace-get the stock tune back is likely at the dealership with an automatic warranty decline. From my past experience with Ford and a turbo car, i had the need to remove my aftermarket tune many times for warranty work, TSB's and one time a out of the blue factory ecu update at the dealership.
      What some people may not know or have experience with is the Accessport V3 tuner device from Cobb tuning. They make premimun and expensive performance parts for certain cars and a awesome tuning device for big-time fast Subarus, GTR's, Mazdas speed 3's, Porsche, VW and Ford mustang/st/rs. One thing their tuner did before uploading their or others customs tunes to your car, it would record the factory tune and save it. It would always swap out the oem tune and vise versa. If the tuner device was sold or removed permanently from car it removed aftermarket tune and reolaced factory tune wherby unlocking the device. Cobb makes the tuners for the specific car model but they can be sold if you sell your car or dont want the tuner any longer to another specific car owner. Also this device stores all the tunes you've paid for on it until you delete them. Helpful and beneficial for new owner because they reap the benifits of your free upgraded tunes/maps..
      This feature of storing the oem tune is not going to keep the car's ecu from being able to recording/documenting the change to a aftermarket tune if the dealership chooses to investigates in the case of a major component failure for warranty but having access to swap back and forth from tunes in many instances is extremely helpul.
      On a side note:
      I'm doing a job next week that will provide me the expenable cash to buy ecutech tuner/Bluetooth dongle and maybe try one of the popular people who tune these cars from Q50 forum.
      Also, im reaching out to Cobb tuning and asking if they can make their tuner available to tune the Q50- Q60. They have one for 2008 G37. They also have a specific plug and play tuner for the Nissan GTR too. Their tuners come with included cobb tunes, map switching, launch control, data logging, 50 plus custom guages to monitor engine parameters and code clearing/reading. Can have anyone reputable create a custom tune and load it up to your car.

      @@BoostInMotion Update...there's a pretty highly regarded shop here for GTR's and imports and such in Dallas Texas. I've been trying to go in there a few times over the last year but have been going to the street over. They don't answer their phones either because of how busy they are so I thought they were closed/out of business until today. I finally got in there and met with the manager Tony. Place is called Jotech, youtube them. Got a quote for their custom Ecutek tune and dyno session to properly tune my car. Base recommendation for my use (just for occasional fast fun) was skip the dongle/blue tooth cables where they will set the car up perfectly for this area/climate and 93 fuel so no need to data log/clear codes as they are just up the street 10 min away. They are a Ecutek dealer, stock AMS parts for Q50/60 and are wanting to get into the Infinity Q50/Q60 game because of the potential these cars have for the community here in dallas, Tony's (store manager) words.

If you add to cost of locating upgrade parts, time, installation, larger wheels, looks, interior, 100 hp!, you ARE paying a significant portion of the higher priced Red Sport. Being an enthusiast is the sole reason why I would buy the 3T model S and convert to a want-to-be Red Sport. Otherwise purchase the Red Sport. I don't regret buying my 2018 AWD RS. I did not want DAS but I would have liked Adaptive CC, and Lane Assist. But DAS comes with it.. I believe.
    I have added most everything you can besides Coilovers, as no DDS compatible coilovers are currently available for the Q50/Q60.
    We tried to get KW to make a few DDS compatible coilovers for a group buy..but no go. I'm waiting for them. Maybe some day.
    When AMS releases the bigger turbos I'll drive out and have them installed along with an AL one piece drive shaft. Allegedly 600 HP with the turbos and retune on pump gas.
    Be advised the AMS RS600 test car has a Level 10 transmission on it. The RS600 "Kit" will not include a transmission upgrade, BUT I would NOT consider going to bigger turbos without out a Level 10 upgrade.
    Be aware the OEM transmission will overheat at a high EcuTec levels of power. Since I'm keeping my RS I had Pat at Level 10 upgrade my tranny.
    It has more than just the modified torque converter and "Bulletproof valve body". It's good to about 1000/1000. It shifts harder and has 8% less slippage than OEM. It also has a higher volume pump to help with cooling.
    I have a more conservative EcuTec tune from Sep. It's not as hot as the other Co., but does not push the OEM turbos far out of the efficiency range. This is for turbo longevity.
    Already Infiniti is starting to replace turbos due to failures (leaking)
    The 425/500 tune is at the very edge. Mine transmission showed signs of overheating at only 420/485 FYI. Keep this in mind.
    I did the tranny for the better shifting and because bigger turbos have always been part of my upgrade path.
    Then I went to the 6 piston front and 4 piston rear AP Racing BBK
    Best mod, with ZERO buyers remorse, was my Fast Intentions catted full downpipes and CBE.
    I wanted the lower gearing the RS has, and put in the Z1 LSD to help put the power to the road.
    Naturally I have AMS intakes and Heat Exchanger. HKS blowoff valves too. If you tune it, you SHOULD have blow off valves to help reduce boost spiking damage. I also got mine for the improved drivability, eliminating the surge "off throttle". A must have if you race your Q. IMHO.
    Boost in Motion is right. You can get any 3.0t and make 425 hp to save $. Most people don't NEED sport brakes, dual water pumps, oil cooler, turbo speed sensors, red thread in their seats to go fast. 90% of the drivers don't care about the gearing difference either. A Silver Sport can make tons of power.
    In the end its just a car. Get what you want as your base. A Lux, LDPs and a JB4 will get you there and save a pile of $ but in the end it's still just a Lux.
    The only thing that makes a 300 hp a 400 hp is the ECU parameters nothing mechanical. Unlike the G37IPL which had HARDWARE differences to make the power. Exhaust, and ECU tweaks (stiffer springs too.)

      Whats up bro. Couple quick questions for you. I also have a 18 rs awd, fbo. I was thinking about getting tuned on corn this weekend, but a conservative tune 500/500 after changing out and putting fresh diff and tranny fluid in from amsoil, do you think it would help? Very well explained brother. I'm about to get a 2018+ Q50s within this next month and you're video definitely verified some things. All I care about is having the VR30, slapping an ark exhaust, test pipes / intakes & tune on it. As far as cosmetics, im throwing some wheels on it and bagging it. Carbon fiber as well, interior/ex and thats it. But I do have one question, which trims have the paddle shifters? Im getting the sport but im seeing some people dont have it in sport. Does that have to do with what selection of package?

  • @bryantlee5190
    @bryantlee5190 4 года назад +5

    There's a ~$5k difference between a sport and red sport. For that $5k, you get the shorter final drive ratio, turbo sensors, 2nd water pump, and better stock tune. Not to mention semi-aniline quilted leather seats, aluminum pedal accents, wider wheels and tires. If you get the sport, you'd have to upgrade many things in order to match/exceed the performance of a red sport. With the limitations of the turbos being so apparent, is it really worth it? RS + JB4 is way more cost effective than S + tune + supporting mods.

    @jmasoncars4452 5 лет назад +3

    I think it's a little misleading to say Infiniti is putting the "base engine" in the red sport when it has 100 more horsepower. I understand it's the same internals and turbochargers but its still +100 in comparison and can still be tuned. From a business standpoint it wouldn't make sense for Infiniti to spend more money on internals for the 1 percent that tunes these cars expecting reliable GT-R horespower numbers. The car is already topping out at a beyond crazy $64k. Imagine Infinitis "price justification" if it had specific engine.

    • @BoostInMotion
      @BoostInMotion  5 лет назад +6

      I would have to respectfully agree to disagree with you. As a business practice this makes good amount of money.
      But as a consumer this is underselling. A hundred more horsepower does not justify another $10,000 above a 3.0 T sport.
      Red sport should have been exclusive. But Infiniti did not want to build a M4 competitor.
      This is like purchasing two identical cell phones with the same exact processor. What Apple decided to Place firmware to slow down the processing speed. To upsell the other version.
      To me that is bad business practice because you're getting the same product.

      @jmasoncars4452 5 лет назад

      @@BoostInMotion I totally understand and 100% agree with what you're saying about the car as a whole. I just disagree with the engine portion. The engine alone definitely doesn't justify a $10,000 price increase but no matter how you slice it, it's still 100 horsepower more so I wouldn't call it a base engine. Kind of like a Ford F-150 Raptor doesn't have a base ecoboost engine even though it's technically the same internals as a Lariat EcoBoost.

    So in March I bought a 2016 blue redsport, got a great deal on it and only thing I wanted the most was the 400hp. Loved loved the power, the drive, and paddle shifters. 1 month later it was hit in an accident and totaled. Extremely bummed. I Immediately started looking for another redsport, until I test drove a 2016 grey premium with factory remote start, heated seats, heated steering wheel, navigation, Bose, and much lower mileage. All these features that my redsport did not have. Then I learned about JB4/ecutek tunes to get the same if not more power as the redsport.
    So I bought the premium at a much cheaper price, with extended warranty.
    I would say the only thing I do miss is the sport brakes. I had sport brakes on my G37S and on the redsport. With the standard q50 brakes I immediately could tell the difference during long braking period and hard braking moments. The pedal just does not feel as firm and pressure is not as linear. Basically I feel like I have to press the pedal more than what I was use to. Still stops great just a softer brake feel. Other than that I like every thing more on my premium, granted that they are all options available on redsport too if you're willing to pay.

    For the FCA engine comparison you forgot the regular 5.7 HEMI which is between the 3.6 V6 and the 392.

    So what people really got to understand about Nissan and technically Renault? Who is the parent company of those two Nissan and Infiniti? They control supply lines. The insurance is really high on them because the parts are so expensive I was looking at an 2018 Alfa Romeo gulia quadrifolia it had 41,000 mi on it. I could have had two of those fully insured for $5 cheaper than one red sport. Now there was a new red sport. But still you're talking about a car with a handbilt Ferrari engine in it and you can have two of them insured cheaper than what one red sport was. I end up going with the stinger scorpion edition and I had a 2005 Nissan Murano that caught on fire, of course with just comprehensive on it. That brand new stinger which is $56,000 is $25 less a month than a Murano was a 2005 Murano which is absurd. I had O2 sensors done. They were $300 some dollars a piece the window cleaner reservoir I asked my mechanic about how much just off the top of his head. He said all said and done maybe 150. The reservoir itself was 20, 0 and I think most people that have Nissans or infinities they had them most of their time driving so they don't even know that. It's ridiculous on what they charge for parts and what insurance cost on them and they're not even the good cars they once were back in the very early 2000s. Once we're not bought them they want the other way. You're rarely going to have them last over 100,000 mi anymore. Before Renault bought them. It would be extremely rare to have one not make it well over 100,000 mi it's one thing people should do more of before they buy a car. See who the parent company is who owns them and you can't go off of what your last one did if you had one because it might not be owned by the same company anymore. Like Chrysler got sold millions of times and they became crap cars and they were once good. Every two years they were bought by a different company. Really the last year they were good was 98. Those Jeeps u still see on the road. You hardly see any Jeeps in between '99 to let's say 2015 anymore on the road. I can probably add that closer to 2017 or 18 I had a Q50 for a very short time. I hated that drive-by wire system get up over 115 mph. It starts bouncing and you feel like you're on ice and like I'm done with this car but it felt unbelievably fast and that engine sound is amazing. But I went against a 400 red sport in my stinger which is 100% stock and I beat it pretty bad at no time. Was it even stopping me from pulling away? And I'm heavier than that car. But the stingers horsepower number is actually at the wheel, not the crank. I wish they would advertise that more so it actually has more horsepower than the 400 red sport at the crank and I saw Dino of a scorpion like mine that was stocking. It's closer to 410 at the wheels. My best 60 time is a 4.18 from a dig and then if you do the stupid 1-ft roll out is a 3.92. With five people in the car I still do a 4.68

    I believe I saw a vid where they took the Redsport and the 3.0t Premium and ran them from a dig head to head.
    Redsport was much quicker. Then they took the 3.0t Premium, gave it a new tune and put them head to head again.
    WOW! It was like suddenly the Premium became the Redsoprt, and the Redsport itself downgraded to Premium.
    So with just a new tune, the 3.0t Premium will gap the Redsport.

    Need your opinion 2019 Q60 Luxe, 2018 Q50 Luxe, or 2016 Q60 Red Sport 400. All are literally within the same price range except the Q50 luxe, its about 4k less. In 2019 in 2-3 weeks should I invest into the Q50 Redsport?

      340 has better Tech. It's just more up-to-date. Also the 340 has ZF 8-speed and the b-58 which is a good power plant

    Great video but my q60S RED SPORT Motor blew and there was only two red sport motors in the nation. They could not put the 3.0t in. it had to be the red sport model engine. i have the paper work still. unfortunately boost it cannot be the same exact motor or they would have put the 3.0t in my car.

      @@BoostInMotion the red sport comes with warranty tho. And as soon as u mess with the psi/ tune in the 3.0tt you will void your warranty. So basically your saying immediately void your warranty or drive the car for 60,000 miles at only 300hp the whole time until warranty runs out then you can modify it to get the same specs as a red sport....ummmm, Red sport is clearly the better option if your buying new with warranty

    So like is a Q60 3.0t premium good to modify or should I just look for a 3.0t sport to modify ? And I found a 2017 Q60 3.0t premium for 20k with 60k miles , is that a deal or is the miles to high for this car?
