- The Q60 is a 2 door sport luxury coupe & vert introduced by Nissan and branded by the very familiar Japanese automaker, Infiniti. So you want to Modify Your Infiniti Q50 and Q60? The motor we’re talking about today was introduced in 2016 called the VR30DDTT, this 3 Liter Twin Turbo V6 beast found in both the Q50 & Q60 made it on the list on the Warts 10 Best Engines of 2017/2018 and has tons of features and quirks which have tons of pros and cons when it comes time to modify, which is what we’re here to talk about, today.

@@redsporting8183 oh wow, I didn't know about this. definitely looking forward to that now!
They'll get there. It's relatively new and it's just starting to catch momentum compared to other brands
That should change when the Z comes out. As the Z is more obtainable and will be out with a 6 Speed.
That light behind his head keeps you focused every time he ducks
Honestly, I think for the price, it's still well worth it. Currently looking for an awd q50 3.0 and I've found some 2018 models, with only 20-30k miles for around 20-26k and with a e85 tune, uggraded cooling, catch cans, and an exhaust, the car will push 450-500 whp with a cost total of 26-35k. It's such a bargain.
Part of the reason why we bought one!
@@maperformance I have a question since I'm still new to learning about cars. Since modding it will void warranty. Where is a good place to service the car? Would it be the same place you modified it?
Wow wish I could find a price like that right now
bro i need you as a car friend. i know nothing and i see we both like infiniti
Still slow a stock 3 series will kill a stock red sport there are videos all.over RUclips. As a former owner of a Nissan v6 turbo all I say is when the term "blood sweat and tears" they mean it and I don't envy you.
Good news, I think the new Nissan Z will have the exact same engine & it's got a manual! I keep telling people that even though the tech and some of these features maybe a bit dated, Nissan has done one thing incredibly well, their V6 engines, They have been around for such a long time enabling them to perfect them.
Can agree my 01 qx4 with the 3.5 is still going strong to this day with 266k miles. Idk how the thing is still running
I personally own a '16 V37 red sport awd, i wasn't a fan of this 7AT at first. However i installed a little auxillary cooler for the trans fluid, and it changed everything about the drivetrain when i throw it in MS and drive mode in Sport+. I also installed a throttle controller and the car launches extremely hard. I love my RS, i will add i definitely want more power, down the rabbit hole i go...again.....
Can you tell me more about the aux cooler, its install, and where you bought it?
yes i’m interested as well i’ve heard the trans is a setback for these cars
I have been waiting for this video for so long thank you so much
Hope you enjoyed it!
Love this vid Q60 Gang 🤙
Absolutely love my Q60 🖤
This is a great video. Your opinion on the exhaust from the factory is on point. In fact I have a Buick Enclave and other than the pumped in audio on my Q50 RS400, the comparison is pretty good!
Nice to see some Infiniti History
Super la vidéo! Je vien d’acheter une q60s 2018 cette vidéo est très instructive merci!!
I actually like the Saddle Brown interior with the wooden pieces it looks nice and classy
More manual swap info is def a big move and so very needed
Ok so I watched this video about 4-5 months ago got a 2022 q50 and needed it to be louder that exhaust you guys put on it the ARC GRIP CATBACK EXHAUST with AMS intakes just stock it sounds amazing I have MAP Performance full down pipes but I’m saving up for a heat exchanger so I can start saving for a tune ones that’s done I’m planing on building the outside make it look good and then jump right back into the engine iv done everything myself including the exhaust with just jacks stands and little blood got it done the intakes were a pain in the *** but got them in and it sounds magnificent

Nice vid‼️ you shoulda make a what’s the difference from base and red sport like is the red sports trans and engine compared to the base
Great video bro! Just bought a q50 3.0
Enjoy it!
Came across your video amazing.. what mod to keep up with Supra GR ?
You should manual swap it if you have not yet! Great video! I’m really considering one of these and I will be manual swapping.
Love the vid. What’s the average cost of replacing the turbos and what brand can you suggest? Thanks in advance.
You mentioned the older G cars being good drivers cars but what about the Q60? I know it's steering feedback is an issue, are there upgrades for it?
That’s right Infiniti Q gang 💪💪
I swear the 370z trans in this thing will make me buy one just to manual swap it
Yes your going to tear apart a newish infinity just to shove a manual trans from a 370z, a car you can find second hand for what kind of money you would spend shoving the trans into a Q50... Only to end up with a slower car that is hacked together....instead of just twin turbo-ing a 370Z or just buying a 400z... Holy crap, you 'BuT Mu MaNuAl' kids are beyond retarded. It's a luxury car, it's expected to have the ability to leave it in auto mode and loft around town. Not only are you kids silly, you don't have class.
Nissan is doing it for you, be patient.
@@tv321123 just say you don't know how to drive manual lol
Me too, I currently own a 370z and its very fun I love it but it sucks to daily the car because you have no room and only one cup holder that is in your way when you shift lol but its super fun to drive it.
Now I'm thinking of selling it to buy something more practical and im looking at this q60s
I can’t wait to get one at da end of da year fr
Absolutely Love my Q60S and I havent modded it yet but first thing is the ldp and axelback for sure. This car sounds like a vacuum cleaner stock.
Yes plz. I currently own a 03 G35 coupe 6spd and I am looking at buying a white 19 q60 red... Thanks for the vids
Q50 gang gang 🤘🏽
with the new Z maybe a manual swap might be easier since they are going to use the same engine . Also more options in aftermarket for sure.
We shall see!
that mightve just sold me
I will buy it after you guys build the MT
I'm assuming these mods will work with the new Z. I plan on getting one with a 6spd.
which one is the best price exhaust for more gains, and not so loud?
i have the Q50 redsport and I LOVE IT!! my brother has the q60 and yes, the 60 is a pain in the ass to install coils in the rear but the q50 was a breeze!
Q50>Q60, especially the redsport
@@cyusiorg629 just curious but why? I've always been a coupe>sedan kind of person and actually own a Q60S AWD that I love driving.
@@chiarac4967 easier to modify and better looking in my opinion, but that's just me they're both incredible
Yep, gotta remove the entire back seats on my q60 to install coilovers. Pain but worth it.
Yes I want to see a manual installed
Q50/Q60's are the Ultimate Daily car. Used versions with 45k miles you can get 500 Crank HP and all that luxury for less than the price of a new fully equipped Altima or Camry. 😎👍
watchout, those Altima drivers believe they own a 4 second quarter mile car. Just ask any Altima owner in Phoenix AZ. They're the fastest thing on the road. No.. fastest vehicle ever conceived of.
@TheReal TampabayGen I mean people aren't tuning Camrys and they sure as hell aren't twin turbo. Nissan can make a V6 just as well as Toyota, if not better. Not sure which part of them is shit tbh.
@TheReal TampabayGen ignorant comment 😄 comparing an n/a vehicle to a f/I vehicle.
Exactly! Besides, life is too short to drive boring cars.
@TheReal TampabayGen You can't even compae a FWD family sedan to a sports car, especially something like a Q60.
Please do just that I would love to see a 370 transmission swap in to the q60 hell yes please do that
Q50S Red Sport owner checking in for duty 👨🏻💼 🚗💨
Love the q60 videos! Would love to see you up a manual transmission in it.
Why? It’s not as fast. I can only understand if you like the feeling of driving manual otherwise there’s no reason. You can’t shift as fast as modern transmission
@@lilgoon8613 Well, that's probably the obvious reason. Who cares if its "not as fast" when it's still got the same mods. Manual will always be for drivers.
@@EzComEzG0 Depends on your definition of real driver, that’s a completely subjective opinion.
@@lilgoon8613 It’s only not as fast because the manuals have to be tuned differently from factory to meet emissions. Get an aftermarket manual in an aftermarket setup though and you’re not gonna get as fast with an automatic. But that requires $$.
@@drummeralex9198 ok get an after market auto than something like a power glide if you want to compare aftermarket. I was also just talking stock here not aftermarket.
I’m scared of my turbos blowing I just want mods to improve reliability so I decided a heat exchanger would be a good investment. I’ve never had a fast car before so I’m more that happy with stock 300hp need the car to last 32k miles rn
I actually like the look of "grocery getting sedans"
With 500hp under the hood of course 😁
Get a Audi s4. The b9's on e85 be getting 600tq from stock snail. My B8.5 SQ5 eats hellcats and screams louder too.
Infotainment is wonky though. Really wish it was just one screen. Other than that love these. Have a g37x coupe with the s breaks, stillen intakes, invada Gemini exhaust, niche m130. Tuned to 300whp. The m129,130 looks great but pain to wash and mount to tires.
I have this q60s twin Turbo but engine VR30DDTT still big problem with losses cooling.
This moment change engine błock for warranty.
Any idea for fix this problem with cooling ?
So apparently this cars engine platform is gonna be in the 400z does that mean engine mods will work interchangbly? Is it possible to insert a 400z manual transmission???
if you own, or are planning on owning a VR30, make sure to purchase a Gates belt. the OEM belt is not good. that's one of the biggest issues on all models

All I did to my q60 was a muffler delete and it sounds great.
Just bought a 22 Q RS what can i do to it?!!! Some help lol. Im assuming same specs at w1 and previous models
You should do the Lexus is200t that would be super helpful
No padel shifters in the Q50 (lower trims)? My mom's hyundai Palisade has paddle shifters haha.
This seemed pretty interesting and true. I have a 2017 q50 3.0t silver sport stock. I bought it few months back and I’m at 39k miles, I plan on keeping the car for a while and will start doing small exterior mods and I’m confused about if I should work on performance or wait a year or two and then maybe do it or ?

What do you think about when installing cold air intakes on stock turbo’s on the Q60 red sport, should I wait till installing aftermarket twin turbos or would I be fine with installing the intake with a basic tune?
You can most definitely install the CAI with the stock turbos!
What can I do to my 2017 Q70 AWD 3.7 VQ
I had a 2018 Q60 New at the time. check engine light at 1200 miles, fixed.... at 4000 miles both turbos and engine had to be replaced. a turbo went bad and sent metal throughout the engine and other turbo. yes i have equtek, AMS downpipes, AMS heat exchanger, Stillen exhaust and Tune.. 456 RWHP, 585 RWTorque
worth modifying .... It is a blast...only downside...a bit hard to launch due to wheel spin and a bit too overbearing of a nanny even with it turned off. it will spend the tires a bit in the 2-3 upshift.

How i can buy short headers for infiniti q50 red sport 3.7 2014
This comment is not a deterrent. I am still a 2018 Q60 silver sport owner. This is my experience in the past year. Purchased used, due to a prior loss, with 28k from Infiniti dealer. I wanted a comfortable daily I could easily wrench on when I wanted. I planned to start doing the usual upgrades. At 36k (still stock) I started to occasionally hear a whistle at startup and or acceleration, but not consistent. Changed the drive belt in my garage but that didn’t help. Next culprit was turbos. Took it to Infiniti and sure enough both turbo seals were bad. Specifically noted Gen 1 turbos on service sheet. They replaced both turbos with the Gen 2 (based on part numbers), heat insulators, sensors, “turbocharger INL”, “Nissan long life”, gaskets, clamps, bolts and turbo oil, and EXM update due to newer turbos. This was all covered under warranty. This Q was a one prior owner, clean Carfax. No background on prior owner but very clean at purchase. Only a worn off A/C button, which I managed to fix without removing dash or infotainment system. (Super easy cheap OEM fix). It’s my daily driver in south Florida. Some spirited red lights, fun on-ramps and swift follow-the-leader trips across the alley, still have the same tires at purchase is what I’m saying. Long story not short my stock q60, driven as intended stock, did have turbo failure. I would personally get another daily before I mod this past cooling/intake/exhaust/simple tune. IMO if you want to drift, track or quarter mile only, it probably isn’t the car for you. If you want a fun entry level luxury daily or an affordable comfortable weekend GT type car this may suit your needs. Having the option to weekend wrench some high gain bolt ons and quick turnover back to road made my decision. I’ve also found a lot maintenance parts are the exact same as Nissan Z parts at half the price from Nissan.
Do you have to have a red-spot? Can you achieve these HP gains on the standard 300hp luxe, etc?
Ours is just a sport model. You can achieve these numbers but there are a few more upgrades needed! Give us a call at 651-348-8811 and we can get you a list!
I haven't lowered my Q yet because of the rear, I also don't know how to adjust dampers in the back without taking the back seat out again
I know the first mod people do to this car, straight pipe exhaust.
I would like to see some performance contain pros / cons for the 2018 Acura TLX Sh-awd Aspec if you have already done so can you provide me with the link
just waiting on the nissan z
My question I’m looking for is… do I need to buy a red sport? Is the motor the same internally? Or is it just different tune etc. I will be manual swapping it. I see you got non red. There is not much info on the actual true difference. Just people assuming stuff.
Y’all need that racebox sauce 🌚
Facts haha I’ve been tuned by him over a year and love it ,
Where can I find this sauce ?
So say I get this car my ideal goal for this car is Straight pipe, Blow off valve, cold air intake and a Stage 2 tune for the 3.0t 300hp car is there anything else I'd have to do for it to run what I said above or are those fine for upgrades ?
Wtf is a stage 2 tune?? 🤣

No sir, this myth was proven false 2 years ago.
People still install them for the tsssh tsssh tsssh 🤷🏾♂️
Nah lol the turbos don't go out because of the lack of venting. The vr30 is just weak on stock parts when it starts pushing more power. When people upgrade fueling injectors belts cooling etc and have good tunes with more boost they do fine with or without the BOV
i Own 2016 Q50 Diesel In Germany the Motor is a OM651 from Mercedes Benz the Transmission is a 7G Tronic plus from Mercedes its a good Deal here in Germany. I Tuned it from 170ps 400nm to 250ps 510nm its not that much but its enough for germany.
The vr30 motors are made out of recycled coke cans, they have known coolant consumption issues, and small cheaply made turbos. I put 15k into mine, then realized I’m burning half a L of coolant every month. Was time to sell. Good power potential, but you will start to have headaches eventually. Mine was 2019 Q50 Luxe remote tuned on ECUTEK on 94 pump making around 430whp/wtq on high boost. I had every supporting mod also.

Yup, seems like they don't hold their value really well. It's part of the reason I don't plan on getting rid of mine. I'll just keep it and drive it until it falls apart on me.
Most luxury cars suffer from high depreciation, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great car!
People complaining about seeing Chargers everywhere definitely don’t understand how many Infiniti’s there are everywhere you look. Yes it gets old too.

I considered a Q50 or Q60 before buying my F30, but at the end of the day, I couldn't part with BMW. I'm on my fourth BMW and the driving experience is just too good. I wish BMW would have kept hydraulic steering, but even that's not much of a con. Both cars are near identical in terms of performance and potential. The support is also everywhere for BMW's. The Q's are still good looking though and I enjoy seeing them around. Maybe next time I'll more seriously consider buying one.
