But honestly thats also true. Most manufacturers just want to do the job "good enough" and be competitive, but no one hardly ever put true soul and passion into these cars, often because they have a short 5-6 year life cycle at max anyways and the industry moves onwards so quickly. In that regard it's better to do more niche vehicles like small sportscars, supercars, very high end luxury and performance cars etc, as they can reap benefit of the hard work for longer.
Hey Doug, I doubt you'll see this, but just a couple of notes: The Q50 indeed does have Adaptive Cruise Control and has had it available since the car was released for model year 2014, but it is an optional package. If that car didn't have it, then the buyer didn't opt for it. The Q50 also went through a refresh. Upon release, there were three engine configurations: a diesel model (EU only), the 3.7L V6 carried over from the G37, and a Hybrid in the form of a 3.5L V6 paired with an electric motor. Those were all phased out in favor of the turbo-charged models (though I think the Hybrid is still available in Japan). That's it.

AlucardBRZ Yea cuz those actual full screen gage clusters won’t age too well. If it starts glitching after a few years you’ll be spending a good couple thousand bucks replacing the entire thing..

Agreed and its honestly a bit tedious. I'm not one to say all screens are bad, but come on if a screen is what intrigues you in a car, then you aren't looking to get a car. You're just looking to get a transportation device with some tech. WHen half the video is dedicated to screens and not much else, then you know something is not balanced
That's because that portion of the car transfers to like usage in cell phones. The only way to gravitate from this feature as important is embed chips in people's brains. Going forward to places and stopping is least important in car functions now.
The infotainment is what you have to live with if the car is your daily. Makes sense to me, this car is not a sports sedan. Despite how Infiniti is trying to brand it that way.
This would be such a better car if Infiniti actually put more effort into their R&D and continuous quality improvement. An improved transmission, improved steering system, and LSD would make this a far more rewarding car to drive, and better match its great engine. In the handling department, this thing has a lot of room for growth.
Yes Infiniti puts the money into the engine and everything else is an afterthought. It's like they can barely keep up. It's become the poor man's BMW wannabe.
Honestly I would rather take the Acura TLX with the A-Spec package over this. Performance wise the Infiniti wins against the Acura but overall the Acura is the better all around car

I have a 2016 3.0T and I think his review is pretty spot on. I love my Q50 as a daily driver, but compared to cars like the Stinger and G70 at the same price point, the Red Sport is completely out classed. The interior is comfortable, but nothing special, infotainment is super laggy, the transmission is unpredictable in sport mode. The motor is incredible though and with the Helmholtz exhaust is one of the best sounding V6s I have heard. Don't regret buying it at all, but will be upgrading once the warranty is up.
We got one in 2014 with everything on it. I completely agree with his review. This navigation debuted in 2006 with the new G35(turned G37 the year after). That’s terrible. The stereo is alright, but the ride is meh and the interior is a huge let down. The self driving tech was awful. They didn’t link the camera and radar, which is just laziness. The G70 destroys this car in terms of refinement, technology, and just everything else. Even the stinger does

I drive a 2019 Q50S Silver Sport. And honestly.....I love it. Yea maybe it doesn’t have every tech feature under the sun, but I’ve had mine for about 3 months and really wouldn’t change a thing other than the parking break. Infiniti states 300hp on the Silver Sport, but that’s incredibly conservative. Before I had it tuned, car dyno’ed at 296whp. So I wouldn’t be surprised at what the Red Sport actually produces at the wheels. And for what I pay a month for the lease, nothing could come close to it. I bought a used one for $30k with 10k miles on it. It is the perfect car so far. I couldn't find anything better at that price and mileage. In sport mode, it is a blast to accelerate and shift through the gears with the gigantic paddle shifters, and the suspension becomes nearly unbearable as if you've put lowering springs on your car, which I enjoy. Yet you can switch to Standard and pick your mom or grandma up and they'll see it as the most luxurious car. It's super smooth and quiet. The tech is great with the adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist, plus it doesn't bug you with warnings to keep your hands on the wheel when using it. For me, driving between Detroit and Chicago is so easy now with the assist features, 20 gallon tank, and 30 mpg highway efficiency compared to my previous compact car. The seats are comfortable and heated, the steering wheel is heated, the moon roof is nice, the seats and steering wheel adjust automatically, and the wipers and mirrors are automatic. An interesting quirk that I like is when you turn on the car, the headlights move back and forth. Oh and it also has a CD player and aux port. I like that it looks like a normal car and doesn't attract a lot of attention. I took all the badges off mine. People that are slightly interested in cars will know enough to ask, "is that the one with 400 hp? That's more than I got!"

Well he drives a lot of car and I have to agree. I leased Q50 back in 2015 because the lease was crazy at $320 plus tax and absolutely nothing else. I thought it was a great car until I drove 4 cylinder TLX and recent BMWs for long term period. 7 Speed transmission on Q50 was just THE WORST transmission in recent cars. TLX and recent BMW downshift effortless and immediately at 20-30 mph if I step on the pedal. Q50 I had often takes more than a full second to downshift if I floor it and sometimes it doesn't even downshift and just puts gas on the same gear slowly. I took it to the dealer and he reprogrammed ECU, but it didn't help at all. I have a Dual motor Model 3 now, so I'm not going back to gasoline cars, but if I have to choose I'll get 330i over Q50 3.0t even if monthly on 330i comes more expensive.
Just bought one. The car is comfy and fast. The main reason I got it instead of a Benz is money on maintenance and parts. Insurance was a big issue as well. Overall it’s a great car I get compliments on it all the time and the reliability of it technically being a Nissan is wonderful plus if you want there’s a bunch of after market ad ons and the engine is a perfect platform for tuners.

The Q50 indeed does have Adaptive Cruise Control and has had it available since the car was released for model year 2014, but it is an optional package.

This would be such a better car if Infiniti actually put more effort into their R&D and continuous quality improvement. A review of an early Infinti G20 would also be awesome
heres a review...
the g20 was just a luxury sentra.
end of the review.
A T actually not. The G20 was a luxury version of the Nissan Primera (not sold in NA, but very successful in Europe)
Said nobody
Why? Are you impoverished or something? He should only review super / hypercars, as in ones that I would buy. Not these piles of absolute dog shit.
A T it was a Nissan Primera with leather and an Infiniti badge.
Honestly I love the gauge cluster, I prefer fixed dials over full digital ones.
cause you’ve never had a car with digital ones
cause you’ve never had a car with digital ones
It was obvious that Nissan gave up on Infiniti when they stuck a CVT on their newest SUV. Infiniti is for people who want great lease deals.
True.. best bang for your buck
Their newest SUV looked gorgeous too. Sucks they messed up the transmission
Or non badge whores. Most people driving BMW'S,M.B AUDI'S ETC,ETC have a NET WORTH OF LESS THAN $25K let that sink in.

I find your review a little harsh..... I've owned a Q50 3.7 since 2014 and had no issues with it. Great ride at cruising speed + quiet ride at high speed and a very good BOSE sound system. Great handling and a tank in snow (AWD)..... All and all, this, for me, was a great purchase...
looking back on this review it seemed like he just wanted to get through the review quickly and didn't go too in depth
Even the stinger does
Thought Q50 was a great car until I drove others. Q50 had Extremely slow transmission response, horrible gas mileage, and excessive wear in tires, etc. C300 with 70 less hp felt quicker. No wonder why they are giving this out below $300 a month on a lease.
@@b1uezea1ot … Well, i wish you luck with your C300 maintenance fees….. and YOU WILL NOT FIND A Q50RS LEASE FOR 400$...… unless you put 15k down..
I put it first in class for price and value. You can keep your BMW Doug. I feel some bias on this review.
Did you hear the end he literally said "but it is the oldest" so technically he's being fair
They’re a really great bargain if you get one a few years old with 50,000 miles. I’ve been driving a 2010 Versa while I’ve been in school and I’d gladly take a 2014 Infiniti. Anything would be an upgrade from where I’m at. I’d like to have a more comfortable car to drive.

incompetence has no borders
Modern Infinitis are for people who want a reliable power train with premium interior materials but don’t necessarily care for the latest tech (Not sure why that’s a hard concept for you to grasp).
Also, you imply the companies financial incentives are a drawback of the brand
I’ll admit Nissan isn’t as innovative as they used to be, but they’ve already made it known for several years now that their lineup will be overhauled by 2022
HAH a reliable powertrain
nice excuses
so true!
The VR30 is by far the least reliable powertrain in this segment, anybody who has done an ounce of google searching can figure that out.
Yeah you can tell how the haters have no clue on what they're talking about.
Personally, I think the Q60 is the coolest car Infiniti offers right now. Easily the nicest looking car the brand has ever made.
Thats not really saying much. Kind of like picking the cleanest turd out of the bunch.
I agree. The interior sux tho
Jonathan Gutierrez Hey the g35 is a awesome looking car.
GhettoMist it looks alright to me honestly.
I actually think the Q60 Red Sport is much better looking than the Q50 Red Sport, but great review.
This isn’t even the current one tho. They refreshed this one and it looks better
Bought a used 2016 Q50 red sport for my wife 2 days ago and it’s not as bad as what Doug sets it out to be. It’s actually a masterpiece from Infiniti. Coming from a Honda guy I’m impressed at what this car has and can do. Aggressive styling and man when you stomp on that pedal....I almost shit my pants.
“Coming from a Honda guy” of course Infiniti will be much nicer to you
@@FreeCoding-ko8vb Can you afford an nsx? I sure can’t. My dream car. You can buy 2 r35’s with one nsx. Bought my q50 for 35 k used. Masterpiece at that price point yes. Poor man’s r35. Dreamland man’s nsx.
@@freddie5744 I’m sorry your dream car is an nsx. From what I gathered you don’t mind having a subpar interior in a car, thus the reason you believe your Q50 is a “masterpiece”. I personally want more for my daily driver. Maybe Infiniti will upgrade their interiors soon to be more level with the staple luxury brands.
That being said, 35k isn’t bad though, but not your only option at 35k, at least where I live
Didn’t mean to sh*t on your dream car, but that’s like an obtainable dream car, that can’t really be your you can have anything in the world dream car
The more infinity is underrated and forgotten, the more likely that i can get a deal.
as someone who just bought an ‘18 q50 rs400, it’s a really underrated sleeper
The facelifted Q50 does not have those shift paddles anymore
And the screen feels 10 years old because the software is about 12 years old lol
Louis Win I have an 08 G37 and the top screen is exactly the same 😂
Ben Kelly I had an 09 coupe and it was the same lol.
And obviously exterior styling is all preference, but I for one LOVE the style of the Q50. I have owned Nissan/Infiniti for over 15 years and never had any major issues on any of my vehicles.
Grinding Knives read my post I totally agree
What’s wrong with the parking brake
My 2019 VW GLI will beat you.
Jeff Spehar I’m glad you think so, sorry but your little turd of VW wouldn’t stand a chance. I’ve had many of you attempt and all failed. But you keep thinking you’d have a chance 👍🏻🤣🤣
Grinding Knives wait till you go to sell that car. You will lose your shirt on it unless you leased it. The depreciation on the Q50 is abysmal.
Both Infiniti and Volvo belong in the obscure "underrated luxury brand that barely anyone buys but are still alive" category
Wow definitely harsh on this review. Other cars he would say the sleeper badging is amazing and understated...
He should of looked at the Q60 Red sport
He certainly has his biases.

@Enzo Morf 340i is way faster mod for mod
@Unknown dude wrong, VR30 are more problematic at high horsepower than B58
worth pointing out this is a 2016, doug. I’d say comparing the car’s tech to newer infotainment systems is pretty unfair
You'd think that, but this same infotainment (from 2014 models) is still on 2019 models. It's abysmal that even Nissan is out-technologying their luxury brand (save the 370z)
It’s my birthday today and papa Doug decides to review my car and then roasts it
Although the tech isn’t that great on the car the interior is still great and the way that car drives, it is amazing
No excuses, how can a car be almost the same for 9 years? (2014-2022), and worse Infiniti keeps paying mad money to senior designers for what?

you can adjust all of those performance meters..doesnt have to show fuel or compass at all
I know Doug mentions this as this best most potent car, but I believe it's actually the Q70S awd with the 5.6 l v8. I own the 2014 model with all options including the 20" wheels. It puts out over 400hp without turbos and is a larger car. Very fast. Unfortunately it also hasn't been updated since 2014. Also mine has adaptive cruise control lane departure etc. Apparently the model with the v8 is so rare my dealer is always asking me if I want to sell mine they have people looking for used ones. There is many with the v6 just not the v8
Could you imagine being the design team for Infiniti and watching this!😂
You would be correcting him,
and wondering why he has an older car comparing it to newer models.
They need a wake up call badly. Their cars are so far behind the competition in design and technology.
My Q50s is super dope. I see BMW’s all day long. Nothin head turnin. I live in SD, and I catch heads snappin everytime im on the fwy. Sometimes I see collisions in my wake cuz a foo got hypnotized look at my Q. Until I can afford a Cadillac CT6 Blackwing, Infiniti it is. Proceed.

Dude i own a almost stock 3.7 Q50 and i rape M340i’s i seriously don’t understand this review. One of the most biased videos i’ve ever watched. Why do you hate Infiniti so much, well built reliable cars , pretty quick no matter what model you get . I’d recommend re doing this review and actually try to be positive and point out the good things instead of literally shitting on the car the whole time
Such a fact! He really needs to relax a bit like bruh
