The Lexus LS600hL is the ultimate Lexus luxury sedan. Today I'm reviewing the Lexus LS600hL to show you why it's so great -- and I'm taking you on a thorough tour of the LS600hL to show you all the quirks and features of the LS 600hL. I'm also giving a driving review of the Lexus LS 600hL.

DOUGSCORE CHART: docs.google.co...
Doug could literally reupload a video from 3 years ago and I wouldn't even notice
The best comment ever.
I going to go watch one. Now.
This is a more "old school" Doug video. A review of a cool and intersting car that normal people can afford.
You mean if he reviewed the same car?
I would, because 3 years ago he didn't state the Doug-Score and later the first Doug-Scores had some other data like "imporance" instead of "cool factor".
I've got this car and I'm surprised that he didn't mention some of the more unique things about the car, such as:
1) It was the first production car with LED headlights
2) There is a coolbox in the backseat that functions as a pseudo refrigerator since the A/C ports cold air into it
3) There are infrared thermometers in the back seat to measure the temperature of the passenger's skin and adjust the air accordingly
4) The insane sound system with 19 speakers
5) The performance of the car is significantly boosted when you push the "PWR" button on the center console, but it doesn't affect fuel economy much
Either way, still a great review and it was nice to see the car on here
I totally agree with you! He missed a lot of the amazing points. What about the air suspension functions (height raising and suspension modes), the hold function, the fact that the car can both parallel and perpendicular park on its own, soft close doors, CVT transmission, etc.
It's because it's a Lexus...meaning, most car enthusiasts aren't wowed by it even if you told them about those features
@@jordanbanko5347 This car has a CVT?! What the frick?
@@jakubzidek LS460 does not have CVT. It has one of the worlds first 8-speed automatics but maybe they used CVT for the hybrid drivetrain?

The surprising part would be finding a rich person who’s bothered to open the hoods of all the Mercedes, BMWs, and Lexus they’ve ever owned.

How did this not get a 10/10 value
@Lauren Anderson that's because non car people may not know what they are. Only the most knowledgeable car people will be able to differentiate a Maybach from a "normal" S Class.
he wants to make his high scores as prestige
Lauren Anderson honestly I don’t know why you’d take the DougScore that seriously. I like hearing what he has to say about cars but I don’t take it as law and wouldn’t use it as actual buying advice.
It probably costs a lot to maintain it. Expensive soundproof tyres, a high car registration fee and other luxury car expenses

As a car manufacturer, you know you've done something rather special when you've outfaced Doug with your owner's manual.

FINALLY! Love the LS. I own a 2013 LS 460 and here are just a few quirks Doug missed that I know he loves.
1) Front seats have a cushion between the seats and the center console to prevent coins and such from falling into the abyss.
2) Rear seat headrests butterfly folds to hug your head.
3) Air suspension: Normal and High Height
4) Heated and Cooled seats for all 4 seats have AUTO function to adjust the temp accordingly.
I mean memory seats for the passenger
im kinda tempted to aquire one (allthought i have to get the ls400/430 beause i would have to pay almost 280€ per month for insurance for a ls600h) as they seem to be great cars. used to own a is200 and i absolutely loved that car.

Although it's nice to have a more modern car with LWB with features not available on the 430.
That said, the 07-12 460 seems to have lost some of the feel and attention to detail that made the LS 430 such a special car. The 430 had better ride quality and was quieter inside.
You definitely cant go wrong with a 430. Its more for your money over any car ever made.
My GS460 has that cushion as well and man that is such an ingenious addition to a car, literally every car should have that.
The coolest unique Japanese quirk that no one would ever notice is that the windows when rolled up, slow at the last few centimetres intentionally to simulate the traditional way to close shoji (Japanese sliding doors).
I feel like every Lexus I've ever been in has done that, and now I know why. My 2021 GX 460 did it, as did my friend's 2016 RX 450h and my other friend's 2016 GS 350 F Sport. Thanks for sharing!

Bro nice 👊 just lower the car with 18 inches or bigger wheels with a slight modification it will be a bad ass daily 😆
I'll mention that the plastic engine cover is on the base model too. Probably for a few reasons: the engine is not much to look at, it probably helps dampen engine noise to the cabin, and Lexus has a very professional white glove concierge vehicle service dept and the probably want to encourage ppl to use it by discouraging ppl from servicing their own cars. That said, if you have the skills and prefer to DIY, the plastic covers come off rather easily by removing those little circular tabs. OH and the trunk is much more spacious in the base model.

The 90 lexus ls has the motorized seatbelt adjustable.
Didn't even mention the most obvious way to distinguish the 600 from 460. Headlights and grill are unique.
Quirk about the silver engine cover: The LS460 has 8 humps on it for its V8, the LS600h has.... 14, because its better than a V12! Also the DVD remote takes 3 double A batteries, the two in the trunk are for the emergency light that is at the end of the spare wheel compartment.
My family had pretty much this exact car (2012 model) back in the day. Honestly a super underrated car that doesn't get enough love.
The 2008 Lexus LS 600hL was the first production car with full LED headlights (and you thought it was Audi), one of the first to have automated parking and so many other features. This car was ahead of its time in 2007. The W221 Mercedes-Benz S-Class was nice, but Toyota/Lexus had innovation that nobody saw coming back in 2006.

I wish you could review the LS430.
You can get the 600 in a short wheelbase. I have one! I drove both and settled on the short wheelbase (swb) version because I'm the driver and never likely to be a passenger so would get no benefit from the extra length nor the executive package in the rear. As an added bonus the swb version is considerably lighter. It accelerates with noticeably more verve and even handles better. Presumably more economical as well. Not that your buy this car for the handling but it handles ok. Better than I expected. I also managed to get one without leather. It has what appears to be some incredibly soft suede instead. Soooo much better. Not hot in summer, not cold in winter and not slippery! The seats are way more comfortable in this material because it has more give than leather. You sink into the seats instead of sitting on top. I'm stunned at how quiet, refined and luxurious this car is. (And fast in this swb version) More so given it cost $13,000 USD In New Zealand and the car has only traveled 43,000 miles. Madness!
Wow 😮 you lucky devil 😈

I'd take this over a European luxury car any day. At least I know this car will reach 500,000km and won't have any issues.
I wouldnt really say without "any" issues if I'm planning to drive it for that long, but i guess the issues will be more minor than you will get from the Germans.
Speedy - R
Honestly from what I’ve noticed, the majority of Japanese cars whether cheap or luxury if you drive them with care, warm up the engine before you drive, and amongst others they’ll rarely give you ANY issues. Apart from changing the oil and other essentials, Japanese cars are truly durable.
@@TheAprizzle92 That's mostly true, Though the thing is; Japanese cars also do need regular maintenance like every other cars - Germans, Americans, British, French - and i speak of this from personal experience. My family had a 2006 Toyota Fortuner and only 4 years the car stayed with us, the transmission failed because i assumed once we forgot to take it for a maintenance service. (just once, before that we never forget to take it to the shop for maintenance service) In 2010 we decide to sell it and buy something else from the German, an SUV, and it stays with less infuriating problem after 6 years of ownership, that's like 2 years more than the Fortuner.
I'm starting to doubt about Japanese Engineering a bit after that.
Speedy - R
Did you get the fortuner brand new? I ask this because you never know what previous owners have done with the car. Every single person I know that has a British or German car they encounter issues after a while, and the ones with Japanese cars seldom do. Any person I know with a Lexus or a Mazda, especially ones that have had it for a decade now haven’t had a single issue apart from regular maintenance.

I still see older LS400 and LS430 on the roads commonly, I can't say the same thing about some of the 90's Audi's, BMW's and Cadillac's...sadly.
The don't break down I had an sc400 stolen from me they tried to drive it in a lake. Bought I back from insurance for 300 dollars lol they gave me 8000
Its still driving lol. 470000 miles.
Always have been a huge Lexus fan, and it’s nice to see a thorough review of a great car
I loved that car when it came out and I still thinks it's an awesome machine.
Since you have reviewed the LS400 and the LS430 you should know that they all have the button that adjusts the hight of the seat belt. On linger trips it comes in handy.
leave it to doug to single handedly bring the value of a car up
Lexus is the best luxury brand, change my mind fools.
Toyota is better
Yes and RR makes bicycles
Hyundai/Genesis is up there, but isn't up there with Lexus quite yet, especially since it doesn't have any SUV's yet.
I would hate to buy a 100k lexus lx570 and when i go to use the druise control, have the same cheap plastic stalk out of a 2006 yaris. Or the same steerin wheel out of a lexus thats half the price thats based on an avalon. Or make real wood look fake. Or the cheap plastics that they use on the interiors. I see no appeal of buying a lexus
@@animalseed6422 isn't a luxury brand
Looks like a great car, and it probably is more reliable than the Mercedes or BMW's of it's time. However, since this is a hybrid there are more things that can go wrong with it than the LS460. The hybrid battery alone will cost upwards of $5000 and the inverter around $8000 at a Lexus dealership. And then also, they were known for bad control arms and faulty Mark Levinson Amps which required replacement. Suddenly it's not such an inexpensive option, but it looks nice!
Some of the reasons I kept my '98 LS400 that is still about as perfect as possible.
I have a 2000 Lexus ls400. Was thinking this was my next car. I know those can be expensive fixes, but what are the odds of those mechanical fixes and at what mileage?
