We still have it now in 2021 going into 2022, maybe we put $500-$600 into it for repairs since and about only 30,000 miles. But nonetheless, one of the best deals one could get. Great little runner, no engine light and no issues. With the shortage of vehicles we could probably sell it and get about $1400-$1600 for it, and maybe we will because wife recently got a 2017 tucson and Im driving her car and Im thinking of getting a corolla hatchback.

    My q50 was purchased new. I think out the door I paid 56k, 3 years later it was worth 19k and dropping. Fully agree with Scotty in car not holding its resale value. The one in the video here I think held up much better than mine. 3 years later and 50k I had a squealing ac compressor. They had had to do a gap adjustment (whatever that means). Still didn’t fix it. They changed belts and it still didn’t fix it. And inside the quality didn’t hold up well the areas held together by double tape where all coming apart. Blend door actuator broke. Infotainment full of problems. That’s when I ditched it for my current car. To me my q50 just felt like an over priced Altima.

    • @phillipjames453

      I would have bought a Toyota Camry instead in order to save money on the front end and avoid those problems towards the back end. One would probably still be driving the Camry as one's current car based on Toyota's reputation for reliability.

    • @leosthrivwithautism
      @leosthrivwithautism 2 года назад +11

      @@phillipjames453 believe it or not I looked at that car before I got the Infiniti. The problem I had was that Toyota financing didn’t want to approve me on the deal we put together. They instead said they would approve something with much higher interest and putting the car near the price I paid for the Infiniti. I was in a bad spot where I was rolling two cars with negative on each. The price they offered was for a Lexus level and if it was a Lexus I would of taken it. But not for a Toyota. Infiniti took in my cars in my current condition at the time and was able to offer discounts based on the fact that I used to be a Nissan owner in the past with great track record with them. So yes the price wasn’t great but it wasn’t too far off what would be reasonable for Infiniti. So I pulled the trigger. But after owning the brand considering the treatment etc and product quality it’s why I ditched it. But I actually agree with you. The Camry isn’t a bad car at all I liked it. It just ended up being a situational problem for myself at the time. 👍

To get it to open,I simply put a an appropriately sized object (a tiny metal container!),under the release lever inside the car and left it there until i fixed the problem. To fix the problem, i got a metal key ring,opened it out a little and inserted it in the fuel cap release door where the release spring had been....it works a dream and it cost nothing! The more complex a car is the more things that can and will go bad eventually. I agree, those low profile tires are foolish. Even without potholes there are curbs railroad tracks, road debris. You are going to regret it, for what? Looks? More expense? ROI.

  • @jeretso
    @jeretso 2 года назад

    Ive gotten stuck on the side of the road after hitting a pothole. My low profile tire got ripped. Changing a tire on a busy intersection with people going 60mph is dangerous especially if your back is towards the traffic side. Now I have to buy 2 new tires so that they ride evenly. Wheels can also get bent easier because there is less rubber to cushion the blow. Low profiles are high maintenance and cost more too.

    About the only "assisted" driving feature that I leave turned on is blind spot monitoring (which in Toyotas--at least the Camry's) it doesn't beep or make noise) and the adaptive cruise control. I've since turned off the lane departure warning system, as it's annoying. Of course some you can't turn off like the preventative collision systems but those only come on if you're going to hit something.

    It is very hard to co-ordinate a mechanic seeing a used car ... You would have to ask the buyer to drive it to the mechanic ... or some other hard to co-ordinate rendezvous ... do you have any suggestions ... you say all the time to have a mechanic check it ... but realistically this notion is almost impossible !!! You say "Find a mechanic Like me" That is impossible !!! People may only find a mechanic like you once in their lifetime !!!

      I look at and find cars for others... The best suggestion I can think of, is find a local mechanic you trust, ask how much to inspect a used car, then look in that area, & ask the seller, if a mechanic can look at it. I know what to look for when buying used......but the most consistent tell" that a seller gives, & shows to be true, are receipts, for maintenance & or repairs. I ask common questions, mileage? Is it snogged? how long have you had it? Why are you selling it? The last 2 questions expose the online used car sellers. That's not necessarily a bad thing. An honest reseller, will tell you, they got it at the auction, or it was a trade in. Car fax is also helpful. There are many used cars that are just ok, but with complete attention to a thorough maintenance, may last many years, where you can resell it, & move on to something new. The best used cars, are the best new cars. Without going into detail, I would stick with cars made in Japan. I have great respect for the integrity behind they're cars & motorcycles, however, with the changing climate, I don't know what those models are today. Consumer reports is a handy tool, in the past I've found them to be highly accurate in they're description portion of the cars. Honda, Toyota & Nissan would be picks for me. If it's just a good used 2-4 K reliable car you want, go with, older Lexus, Toyota Camry, Honda civic or accord. The car could have 200K miles+ but if treated right, the car can easily go another 100K.
      Oops one more question I always ask, if it has an (interference motor) the timing belt ( if not replaced when due) can snap, & that's pretty much the end of the motor. If it has a timing belt, most do, ask when it was replaced.
      Long winded I know. But actually, there's so much more.
      I'm really vetting the owners of these used cars, more than the car.
      Hope this helps
