In this video I want to go over the issues I have had with my Q50 and also talk about the maintenance cost. Hope this video helps out alot of you with questions!

Thank you for your information, I owned several Infiniti (I-35, Q50h, M37, and now Q70h), everyone one of them I drove pass 100K, except for normal maintenance (Oil, tire, brake pads), I have no issue with any of them, Infiniti is a very reliable brand, their engineering on the drive train is very good, but their marketing is bad, I am glad not too many folks know about this, and drive up the price as Lexus did.

Thanks so much for such a detailed layout regarding all the mechanical issues you’ve experienced with the car within a 20k mile frame! I just recently bought a 19 Red Sport with 13k on it and have only had it a week! At this point it’s a bit soon I guess for me to highlight any mechanical issues with the vehicle at this point as there aren’t any! I actually did have an issue with the key phob not being programmed correctly but other than that everything is okay as of now! Thank you for all the insight on what to keep an eye on with the q50! How much did you get the Q50 for? I’m thinking about maybe getting a 2021 Q50 3.0T but they going for $38,955 and I’m pretty sure the dealer has some sort of mark up so the car would be coming out to around $45k and payments gunna be around $700-$800/mo

@@marioe5421 my stupid Heater hose connecter on my 2007 g35 sedan rotted out and it overheated and probably blew a head gasket but I been driving like that’s for 2 years I jus dump the coolant reservoir back in my radiator once it pushed it out mayb it jus damaged the gasket a little bit
How many miles??? I have g37 sedan 3.7 2012 I've been having problems no seems to know what's the cause keep goin onto limp mode service engine always on
10 months in with my RS and I haven't had any issues. I don't drive crazy either. Only once I got her up to 140mph (in Mexico).

I have a BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe. Everyone kept telling me not to get a BMW because they’re just a headache. Got a second hand one with 60,000miles. 8 months in not one single issue. I dont drive crazy and I’m always on Eco mode. Lmao. Anyway, I’m looking to get this car now because I always wanted an Infiniti.

@@kennq507 I have a 2016 RS400. Get the RS400 if you don't plan on modding it but want the extra HP and performance bits. Get the Sport if you want bang for your buck and plan on modding it.

Same thing with my 2017 q50 had to change my ac compressor or get it aligned problem stopped. One thing they did without my permission is changed my screen for no reason now it be messing up on me

Yeah hopefully it stays that way. I think 2014 only came with the 3.7 engine. I doubt you will have really any issues if its taken care of. In my opinion one of the best motors out there right now for a NA v6

Haris Qureshi I was thinking about buying a 2015 or 2014 Q50 the miles are like 88,000 - 95,000 is that a okay mileage.? Prices range from $14,000 to 16,000
@@LT583 you'll be set. I actually just sold mine at 150,000 miles, only reason was it was leaking a bit of diff fluid and I had a great opportunity to hop into something newer (Acura TLX) So I took it, however, I miss the Q sometimes and would 100% do it again.

Im coming from an '05 g35 and was considering a newer model q/m with the 3.7, currently theres an awd 3.0 q50 with 35k miles available which im interested in now, but how would you compare the power / reliability between the 3.7 and 3.0t?
Stock for stock pretty much same in power unless you throw a tune 3.0t can get more power with less money. Reliability wise 3.7 as its a na v6

At 120,000 miles in my 2016 Q50 3.0. Infiniti had to replace the right rear wheel speed sensor around 95k miles and that’s it. I’m stock

Yeah its been an issue with the car.
That's exactly what happened to my friends q50 but it wrapped around the pulley and pulled it. He's in the middle of a claim with infiniti trying to get the engine replaced. I feel bad for him because he's only had the car for 2 months and he babies his cars as well. I told him should of opted for the 3.7l and he didn't like that 🤣
I owned J 30 , QX4 , FX 35 , QX70 x2 , currently Q50 ot . Never had any issue .

I'm looking at getting one. Only concern I have are the turbos long term but I don't drive too crazy (at least not in my truck). Haven't had a car in a while tho lol
I feel like the turbos won't last forever. I'm not to worried about it just because if I do have issues I plan to upgrade
I have a 2017 Q50 3.0T with about 28,000 miles. I have had 0 issues (knock on wood). I have taken a road trip with the car as well from Southern Cal to El Paso and it drove amazing. I tend to keep it in Eco Mode because I love how the car cruises. I am skeptical about the turbos but I assume if you don't beat the car up and or add a ton of mods without replacing crucial parts you should be fine. On forums I have had numerous people tell me they have 75,000+ on the stock turbos. My suggestion, save money here and there incase they go out. If they do, get bigger ones ;)

Update.. I Q50 back to the dealership after owning it for 48 hours.. I didn’t like what I was seeing or reading on the Q50 forums. Blown engines and turbos on cars with low mileage. I miss it but I’m glad it’s gone lol
@@kemicalx17 its all good brother its all apart of the game to be honest i feel like most of the bad rep comes from people who were running those jb4s and no heat exchangers... i have no problem with having to do a bit more maintenance on these plus i dont plan on adding a jb4 anyway. I have no regrets this thing moves quick 💀

That's pretty close to the when we heard the noise as well. I would have the dealer check it out. They covered everything at my dealer under warranty
@@Chrizleyva had this same exact issue with my WRX, it was my AC clutch assembly for the WRX, that’s what fixed it for good.
I have 2018 Q50 luxe and I also started hearing the squeaky sound at 38k mileage 🤦🏽♂️😂

I have a 16 Redsport only thing that I had a issue happened twice when I would open my door it would make the unlock button but the door wouldn't open . It happened twice same day and never happened again 🤔
I know mine does that when I don't lock the car and I use my hand it will unlock but doesn't and have to use key or wait a bit for it to like restart its wierd lol

Depends what your goal is for the car. If you want to do alot of mods I would say the lux if you want it stock i would go sport or rs

Honest answer- in my opinion turbos are not supposed to last forever it's a item you eventually have to replace

The market is different right now fam alot has changed. When I had gotten the q50 it was a 2018 with like 30k miles for 25k. So in today's market it sounds about right but I'm not sure if the price may change later in the future.

I just bought a 2017 Q50 and I was wondering what type of gas all you guys use? I saw that it takes 91 octane but can I put 93 on it? do you guys recommended, shell, Exxon, Sunoco, etc...
You can use 91 or 93. I usually go to shell or chevron.
BP and I would put regular gas it's a cheap car
91+ a.k.a premium you can go higher but not lower or else you risk knocking your engine.

Damn bro, that Infiniti dealership trying to rip you off! I always opt for synthetic and the total cost always comes out to just under 75.00 and I live in Hawaii. I hope they at least vacuum and wash your car too!

It's depends how strict the dealer is and if the part caused the problem. I had the coilivers on and had things replaced

@@cjmitt1337 yeah not many people can fork out 20k lmao. Thats alot of money. I bought my 08 g35 sedan for 10k with 35 k miles mint condition. Eventually I want to upgrade to the 3.7 l q50s. Goals on the q50s would be new wheels, ark or motordyne exhaust if they make one, lowered a little bit for looks and other addons. I want the car to be reliable and looks good 👍🏼

@@cjmitt1337 yeah the vr30 is a bargain because it not as reliable as a 3.7l. It's harder to find 3.7l then the 3.0 twin turbo. My buddies vr30 belt slipped and pulled a pulley down causing him to have to replace an engine.

So question, you said you have an aftermarket exhaust and a heat exchanger, also your air intakes are the infinity colab? This doesn’t void the warranty at the dealership???
It depends on your dealership if they will void. I have had a few things covered under warranty with these mods. Some dealers are not mod friendly. The instakes and heat exchanger shouldn't be a problem since they are ams products and also are sold by infiniti. Now downpipes may cause problems. Exhaust should anything after y pipe but again it depends on the dealer

@@Chrizleyva im referring to the rear infiniti emblem. When you debadged it, how'd you remove the rear emblem?
Ohhhh its just glue. I used some go off ( adhesive remover) and a wire to remove the glue. If you use a razor you have to be careful not to scratch paint. Its not bolted or anything

It depends on your dealer some are cool some aren't. If you have ams it shouldn't at all since it's a product offered by infiniti. As for a shop I know that infiniti motorsports can do it or any local infiniti dealership

The VR30 in the Q50 is a flawed engine, no exaggeration to say that we should expect a class action lawsuit in a couple of years, especially when 400Z owners start having issues. The VQ37 engine in the Q50 is bulletproof.
What are the issues or flaws you are referring to? I've read mixed reviews. I'd like to hear a tuner's perspective and a daily drivers (stock) perspective.
@@DryLipJohn What part of my comment was difficult for you to read ? The VQ37 is bulletproof compared to the VR30. The VR30 has serpentine belt, accessory pulley, heat soak, turbo failure and a host of other issues that do not affect the VQ37 Q50.

If they replaced the strut your lucky, especially if you took it to the dealer with the oversized tires and lowering kit. If I was the service advisor that would probably be a automatic denial of a warranty claim. You should be bringing that service advisor a gift card......Cash is to obvious!
Brake flush is a good move but if you did the brake upgrade and changed the calipers the system flush should be part of the caliper swap.
For brake work going forward you should only have the pads and rotors from now on for quite a while. I upgraded my brakes on a different vehicle and even independent mobile mechanic charged almost $1100....NOT Including the new calipers, brackets, rotors and pads. It was not cheap but they had a lift and only took them a few hours which would have taken me probably a full day or two,
Lol yeah I agree and the car was on stock suspension when I took it in and believe it or not the stock wheels actually feel heavier then the ones I have now. Most likely cuz they are forged rays.
